You are so tragic.

This is it, the silly escalation. "That's nowt. A was walkin down Rurker beaych and a sees 10 thousandz of the curnts all wearin gravey stayained sawdi tops, including the dogs. So ah windmilled the lot of the scruffy curnts, arms, legs and heads flyin everywhere. Well, ahh looked at one of them anyways, and he didn't say nowt back. FTM".

Now steady on. LTA was never hated anywhere near as much as CT and unless we go unbeaten in the league she won't achieve "national treasure" status on here like CT either. Apologies @sammynb. Us Gen X cunts are dying out, I think the boomers have already left the building @Noelie @Rob W.

We're a microcosm of society. No young blood to replace the aging boomers. Too perpetual or something, and not enough sharks. I can only think of @Dazzler being a meaningful recruit in the past decade! Oh well, I'll continue, even if I'm talking to myself surrounded by the closing entropy of the Universe's heat death.

Ahh, so you're taking CT's advice on the taxiing then? 👍

Naah, that would have been NJS and his Audi TT I reckon. A successful hairdresser, but a dresser of hair nonetheless.

. Your links are too dodge for me to open on this PC. Have you got any more mainstream links to try? Or just give a brief synopsis, i.e. bascially are we paying for Ukrainian liabilities? On a realted note, I read that 15% of the Russian economy is now spenton the war which can't be sustainable (as well as the loss of life).

That's the Mazda MX5 surely? Tbh I reckon Gemmill might favour one but probably goes for the good old focus for storage space which can be sound proofed and because it ticks all the boxes on his value for money checklist.

Just make sure you've ample supplies of cable ties and chloroform in the boot.

Yeah, Mrs Rents chisseled a bit of the Berlin wall herself when she was inter-railing. We've since lost it but it was just a chunk of graffittied concrete. This is my favourite use for the Berlin wall, as a homeopathic cure: "drinking a solution made with the crushed concrete of the Berlin wall can cure physical symptoms including asthma, headaches and insomnia resulting from depression, grief or oppression among other things". https://withberlinlove.com/2016/07/01/berlin-wall-homeopathic-remedy-murus-berlinensis/ This quackery actually got royal approval from none other than our glorious king sausage fingers himself. so is obviously a bargain! https://www.thetimes.com/uk/royal-family/article/homeopathy-remedy-using-berlin-wall-has-royal-approval-ffngh5wm3

But bear in mind that as an NHS worker your pension is relatively gold plated so you really want to maximise that benefit to make up for all theother shit you have to contend with. And don't think "I'll be dead by then anyway", given you're a straight edge warror you might be talking about 40 years of lost benefits!
-
Aye, I think I remember you saying. Was that the one where the prospective buyers were complete twats who gazundered you, so you salted the lawn, shat under the floor boards and sewed some kippers into the curtains?

Fucking hell. No way you're going to recoup the fuel cost on those prices even if you drive 24/7. Easy for me to say not being able to afford it but Tesla can get fucked given their cunt of an owner.

I completely agree with that. Absolutely if you invest in infrastructructure it will pay future dividends, its a no brainer. There's only so much planning you can do in opposition though. So I am going to give them time. My expectation is they will relax the fiscal rules for capital expenditure (I believe they are already working on changing definitions) and we'll see benefits later. You might have the impression Labour are running the country like Ashley but you don't know what is happening behind the scenes. I think what they have done in the limited timeframes is quite impressive, but I think they are very poor at explaining their rationale for policies.

I don't disagree really. Although I did post questioning the consequences of increasing the GDP/debt ratio above 100%, without anybody answering. I guess maybe where we differ is our trust in the current Labour party and their motives. I trust Reeves and don't believe she is another tory. The other thing about joining the SM etc is we really don't know what the EU thinks about this. Would take a single veto from one of the EU27, and maybe even some of their internal states, to scupper this. I always felt during the Brexit debate we completely discounted the position of the EU as if they didn't matter. Now we are out, we have no say on the conditions they could set for us to rejoin. Neither of us have any sight of this. Maybe Starmer does and is playing his hand accordingly. It's still incredibly early days.

I think you've got the wrong idea about "looking up here" mate. Talking of which, that reminds me I need to talk to my patent lawyer about my latest idea.
-
Oh fuck, you've done it now.

You can't compare the UK, with a population of 60 million and huge issues with geographical and social inequalities, with the nordic countries though. The comparison has to be with the countries in your graphic, surely? Who are experiencing similar problems. "Tax the rich" just seems to be a bit naive and sixth form politics to me, you've not exactly given much detail onhow you would do this. One off wealth taxes won't touch the problem structurally. Higher top level PAYE taxes may help but the super rich will get around this with their accountants like Gemmill. Inheritance tax and capital gains tax are legitimate targets which I think Labour have their sights on, but it will take time and neither will be popular.

Aha, youse let it slip there marra. The sawdies put rockets in the ball and guided it in with remote control.

And aye, he's always telling shit jokes and says "are you having that?" (paraphrasing here mind).

Leonard, by Peter Kay. A pilot episode chronicaling the life of a mentally ill man in Bolton. Having had a mentally ill sister at the same time, I can vouch he got it spot on. Obviously he went with Phoenix Nights which had far more scope, but this episode is touchingly brilliant imo.

10 pence for anyone getting this reference.

Yeah, this. It works because they're just incredibly believable characters. Everybody knows an Oz, a Neville, and a Barry, also all the others. Don't think I can recall a series ever which got the casting so perfect as well. Add in the humour and the first two series are untouchable. Fucking hell, I've just noticed something. The hiatus between AF2 and AF3 felt like a lifetime, with all the characters aging and having grown up kids etc. Not only is the gap in years between AF3 and now greater, it's also even greater since AF2 pile of shite AF4. Jesus.

Why are there no exceptions to this rule? Why are there no successful further left wing parties to break the cycle? I mean you've got most the liberal democracies in that cycle. See my posts above about managing national debt, how do we do this? If it's just as simple as tax the rich more, why's nobody done it?
