There was some great stuff at the recent wine festival Aldi had on. There's still some stock left at the one next to mine. Their wines are normally really nice anyway but they had a lot of less common stuff like a dry white made from Tokaji (normally makes a sweet, fortified wine from Hungary) and Gruner Veltliner from Austria. Think the nicest ones I got were a Tasmanian Gewürztraminer and a lush Syrah-Carignan blend from Chile. The most expensive one was about £8.99

Nesta was fucking brilliant back then as well. Basically reduced to trying to kick lumps out of him. He struggled to even get close enough to do that
-
His performance as a whole in that match was ridiculous

You see I had a bit of time for him at first but it's bollocks like this which makes me despair. Analysis on sites like Electoral Calculus suggest a General Election today would see Labour with even less seats and the Tories with a very comfortable majority of around 100 seats. I know you could argue he has to say things like that but I worrry he actually believes it He's got absolutely no chance.

It's going to go down the Corbyn wins - war of attrition route

Messi and C. Ronaldo both win it on longevity but, a bit like Tyson in the heavyweight boxing division, he was, literally, a phenomenom at his peak.

Yeah, imagine people commenting on stuff they have no knowledge of and haven't even seen

Aye

Eh? How's that a revelation btw? It's been common knowledge for ages that she was diagnosed as a kid and took up the sport after doctor's advice.

My mate used to love it. I can remember sitting round his doing buckets being bored to tears with it. On the back of that he rented a film starring Patrick Stewart called Dad Savage. It's meant to be a gritty modern day British take on a Western with Stewart playing this tulip grower who's into line dancing. Can't remember much more other than there being some murder(s). It's about as good as it sounds. Remember when you used to just go to the video shop and take pot luck with something you'd never really heard of?

Me and Tooj were talking about going up to the Kielder Observatory one clear winter's night to see the Milky Way etc. (not a euphemism) as it's amazing what you can see once you get away from light pollution. Dweebs!!!! Used to go there quite a lot when I first learnt to drive and just look at the stars before the observatory was even there.

Had a look and it was a Roman World based on Pompeii (seem to remember a malfunctioning Yul Bryner getting into that bit) and a one based on Medieval Europe as well as the Wild West. Incidentally, remember when the shit Star Trek (the one without Kirk, Spock and co.) basically became every episode with them in the Holodeck?

Yeah, that's great. Hope it stays that way.

It's possibly the early onset of dementia (or perhaps not giving much of a fuck in recent years - or watching us much for that matter - or a combination of all those things) but I have much better recollections of goings on at the club a lot longer ago.

Had an eye for goal as well yet that goal the other day (which was a beauty, obviously) was his first in ages. Had a decent scoring record before he arrived too, given he's not an out and out striker by any means. Had a quick check and he's still only 30 as well.

Obviously my memory is playing tricks with me, but I think the general point still stands. He looked a canny player when he first arrived. One thing that stood out was his movement was quite clever. His confidence drained away for whatever reason. Don't know if that's all down to Pardew, in fact it's not because he hardly did any coaching when he was here. Not that that reflects particularly well on him mind.

Assists the mackems in looking a bit less bad.

When Gouffran 1st arrived he looked like a useful squad player, at least, in a division above this. One of many that lost his way since we came 5th. How long ago does that seem btw?

Remember a scene from Westworld where a bloke fancies one of the androids and she says to him something like "Oh, I'm not programmed for sex". She was more of a air hostess / waitress type iirc. She was greeting the arrivals. Obviously had a profound effect on me as I remember watching that at me Gran's in Burradon and she's been dead about 30 years. Wasn't Westworld only one part of the theme park? Anyhoo, the things you remember...

Not quite sure of the appeal like If that's what keeping off the drink does to you I think I'll stick to being a reasonably high functioning alcoholic
