  1. I think Frampton won on points like. But Quigg will totally regret not making it a brawl earlier. When he did, Frampton couldn't handle him on the whole
  2. I agree but he only looked good when Quigg was overawed early on and did nowt. Looked like a shadow of his normal self when the fight caught fire. Could easily win on Pts and probably rightly so.
  3. Frampton looks like a fucking fraud tonight
  4. He's had a lot more than a few weeks to work most of the players including some of those signings though
  5. Think the respective egos are about the only things that are comparable
  6. Think Frampton has looked absolutely top class bar that fight over in the states against that journeyman Mexican. He was floored two or three times and even though he won a unanimous decision it showed a bit of frailty. The Mexican had a big height and reach advantage and Quigg will have that too (to a lesser extent). Frampton has a short reach even for his height and while that gives him great power at that weight it might cause problems if Quigg can keep him out of range. Not sure Quigg will do that though as I think the needle pre-fight will mean they'll both be after a KO. Frampton has also fought nearly all his big fights in Belfast and, while he'll have a lot of support, it won't be the same as fighting in front of a full house at the Odyssey Arena. Think it's a pretty even fight tbh
  7. Is it in Sunderland? Because, if it isn't, that'll explain why he's got his facts wrong.
  8. You're often going on about how shit Pardew and Caver were, or words to that effect. Not that I particularly have a lot of affection for either of those but don't you think a change of manager and the coaching set-up and £80m worth of new signings should see some upturn in terms of results on the pitch? And don't you think that the manager has to take a large degree of responsibility if that's not the case? And, if not, why not?
  9. Well he reckoned it would take 3 transfer windows. Making the assumption we don't get relegated and he doesn't get sacked (think the former is more likely) then he's got one left. Judge him after 10, erm 15, erm 25, I mean 38 games, or something.
  10. Just thinking, with the mention of Ronaldo. Made me think that Van Gaal achieved at Barcelona what SBR couldn't. And SBR had Ronaldo at his disposal whereas I think he'd gone to Inter by the time LVG took over. Not belittling Robson or bigging up LVG but the latter did very well to win back-to-back league titles there up against the sides around at the time. Think he's been on a bit of a downward slide ever since though and that was about 15 years ago now. Also seem to remember reading that the Bayern players had a big party when he left
  11. I want to see that. Mentioned it before but the book is quality. Widely regarded as the best he's written. I couldn't comment properly as I've 'only' read about 20% of his output but it is excellent.
  12. Sorry, missed this reply. Checked with my Dad. It was that era, aye. Bloke in question never actually played for the first team in a competitive game but blagged his way into the set-up due to lying about being a former Newcastle player (played for Newcastle boys ) and the Geordie connection with Rocky Hudson. Did play a decent standard in the indoor leagues though and the level below NASL at that time. He played against quite a few players who played in various World Cups as there were loads of them went over there who went to the US at the end of their career. He ended up working as a maintenance supervisor for Princess Cruises.
  13. Which is tame compared to what Scoobos would have in mind
  14. Chez, you know for a fact if we were sat in the pub I could talk you through those La Coruna and Valencia sides and the same goes for the Real Madrid finals against Juve and Valencia. I knew the point on about La Liga being not being competitive back then wasn't the case. Anyone who knows a bit about continental football at that time would know that. I confess to googling to check the facts but you can't really call me out on that since you went from knowing nothing about Real Madrid at that time to quoting the respective players in the Barca and RM sides and mentioning the date when Figo moved between the two clubs. When I mentioned the final in which Mijatovic scored I hadn't done any googling. I've barely missed a CL final since I first started liking football as a young kid and I clearly remember that one. Juve were favourites as they had the likes of Zidane, Davids and Del Piero playing for them and it was (I think ) their 3rd final in a row. Real were the underdogs but still had some very good players like Seedorf, Raul, Roberto Carlos, Redondo and so on. Anyway, I think you know me well enough to know I could recall all that without resorting to google.
  15. Which backfired spectacularly because you didn't know what you were talking about
