  1. Like you say it's moot as he'll only arrive if he's prepared to take a wage cut (about £50k a week at a guess). I think it might happen like. Especially if they get Dempsey in. LFC can say they want £20m but I don't see anyone paying that and if he goes elsewhere, (West Ham are meant to be interested) then I reckon the buying club will need to match the £80k he's on now. All bodes well for us getting him late in the window imo.
  2. Paying Carroll £80k would mean you'd need to pay about half a dozen other key players that to keep them at the club though.
  3. You tried peppers and eggs? I think it's just an omlette in a sandwich. Junior Soprano likes them anyway.

    FAO Leazes

Something we can all agree on.
  5. You obviously included Blatter as well though. And it's got fuck all to do with him. And Uefa may be corrupt but they're not in Fifa's ballpark tbh. Largely because, thanks to the CL, they don't need to be. Fifa, on the other hand, need (in their eyes at least) to squeeze every drop of blood out of the World Cup that they can, because it's basically their only source of income.
  6. It's a bit steep when it's £20 to see them in a competitive match in the same part of the world (more or less) though.
  7. Just reminded me of the bloke at the DSS I worked with who had one arm. Was referred to as Slot. To his face, I might add.
  8. I knew a lad called Bob went by the nickname Horse's.
  9. Garth Crooks He's been on since the mid-80s as well.
  10. What about Seville-Cordoba-Granada? I've only been to Granada to see the Alhambra Palace but I'd highly recommend it. Should've cooled down by then but still be warm. Plenty culture, especially Moorish, obviously, which is a bit different to your Greek / Roman ruins. I think you can get the train between all 3 from Malaga and (iirc) EasyJet fly to Malaga from Newcastle every day of the year. You could drive as well as they aren't that far apart (especially if you're going for a week). You could even watch a football match if you time it right although I don't know what your lass would have to say about that
  11. Was it Gary or Phil Neville who was meant to be great at cricket btw?
  12. That's just them protecting their own sponsors. Still though....
  13. It's 606 because it originally came on at 6:06 pm on a Saturday, i.e. after the full second reading of the classified results (at 6pm) finished.
  14. The FFP rules are Uefa regulations so Blatter had/has no real involvement in them.
  15. We know he's a wanker. Does it really matter what type he is?
  16. Sums BBC Football up for me. You could tell they were grooming him for the role while he was still playing. He's turned out to be shit so what have they done - persevered with him instead of getting in some more interesting guests. Same goes for Savage on Radio5 imo. Someone in the BBC has obviously decided he's a good presenter / radio host and they're sticking with him regardless. Have you heard him on 606 etc.? If anyone disagrees he basically shouts them down / comes back at them with - "have you played professional football?" What a clown. I quite like Mark Bright as it happens.
  17. I'd avoid Cyprus if you're looking for something different to Greece like. If you end up in Turkey Ephesus is worth checking out. It's technically Roman ruins rather than Greek as well
  18. Tbf, while I agree in part, the ref was entirely to blame that night. Dixon used unfair means because Ginola was too good for him. Not really defending Dixon but it's naive to think players won't do what they can get away with. I remember Ginola being book for a 'dive' after Dixon or Winterburn basically went right through him.
  19. Aye, Souness is good but he has (not the only one like) done a few history rewrites about his time up here at the same time. I think the main problem with the Beeb is that it's such a closed shop / old boys network. It might seem inconceivable but Lawrenson and Hansen used to be really good. The reason they're so crap now is because they've been doing the same job and trotting out the same cliches for years. That's why Lee Dixon or Martin Keown seem decent when they're on, i.e. because at least they're a bit different. Shearer's always been shit since he first came on like. I just hope, like someone else said, Savage doesn't get on the show, because he's fucking dreadful. He seems to be the Beeb's latest pet project as well. Anyway, what I'm getting at is, it's not just who you have on, it's about keeping it fresh. Something the BBC rarely seem to do.
  20. The Algarve can be like that but it's still nice in parts. Up Estoril way is meant to be lush but I haven't been that far. I'd say you're much safer weather-wise with the Eastern Med in October though (or North Africa as you've been looking at). Cyprus or Crete would fit the bill and would also have plenty cultural shit for you to do. Personally I think Crete is a lot nicer than Cyprus though. The latter's too British for me.
  21. Surely all Ashley needs to do is SHOW SOME AMBITION.
  22. Good luck with the marketing on that first one. And I was thinking more of a Rohypnol flavour for the latter.
  23. I was in catered halls in the first year when I was at university so had what you'd call limited kitchen facilities (toaster and a kettle in other words). I did a few Pot Noodle sandwiches in like. 'Chicken' and mushroom with extra soy sauce. Made with Tesco Value thick sliced stodgy white bread. Lovely
  24. If he makes a whisk(e)y I think I'll give it a miss.
