  1. Used to love the Duies of Hazard and the way every episode involved a pointless car chase with the General Lee doing doughnuts in a field. RIP
  2. Pretty much the way I feel which is why I stopped caring. Im pretty philosophical about the club. It's like getting irate at some shit driver who's just cut you up and is either oblivious or couldn't give a toss. You're the one raising your blood pressure. Much better things to do with my time really. I do think it's very sad but I'm way past the point of letting it have much impact on my life. Fuck it, tbh
  3. I agree with that in that it's a potentially risky policy. It's offset by not trying to win a cup though. Also, he's shown that when it's looked dodgy he's splashed the cash in the January. Gloom will bring up Ashley's past record when it suits him but, since we came back up, there's nothing to suggest the owner only wants to do just enough to stay up or that he has done just enough to stay up. That's not a defence of his record because I hate the fat cunt and he's destroyed my interest in and just about any enjoyment I derive from the football club, but the facts don't match up with a lot of the hysteria. He took a calculated gamble this season because plenty of points were already on the board, hence Carver being given a shot. If he'd done great then then Ashley would've had a potential manager. If he completely fucked up then relegation was still extremely unlikely (which is pretty much the case). Barely staying up is/was worst case scenario stuff. You can't really point to the summer signings and say barely staying up was the objective though. So why would it be the objective next season? If you say that might be the way it pans out then, aye, fair enough. But since we came up we haven't really skirted with relegation. Even when we came 5th bottom the 3 that went down were miles behind us in terms of their points per games average (which is surely a great indication over a 38 game season).
  4. What you're probably looking at is a new manager (possibly with a bit more say over coaching support than Pardew had - not saying a lot) and enough new players (with a few leaving) to make mid-table obscurity the most likely outcome. That's what he's after. Just surviving is certainly not the aim because it's far too risky a strategy.
  5. I could go for it if I thought it would work out like that. Don't see it unfortunately.
  6. Can't honestly see there not being one. Not exactly a land of milk and honey over the horizon but I find it inconceivable Ashley won't take steps to protect his investment. He's shown in the past he's done this when he's had to as well.
  7. Just back to the same cycle when we get back if he doesn't fuck off though. And he'd want the money back and would no doubt come up with some other plan as to how to get it. Can't see the positives in the long run although the idea of his being massively out of pocket is pretty appetising.
  8. Aye. Good spot. It's the constant shite like that from the likes of Merson, Savage & Claridge that so few journos and pundits take them to task about as well
  9. What a fucking tit Carver is. Trying to deflect criticism with something as insubstantial as that
  10. Burnley are going to struggle to get 35 points. Hull probably are too. I could see 4th bottom and it's not a defence of us in any way but two wins and two draws from the last seven would be great form by Burnley's standards and still not enough. Next season is worrying without a major shake up on and off the pitch though, obviously. Wonder if we've got the ability behind the scenes, let alone the will, to bring in some proper coaches and the players needed. Take that bizarre run this season out of the equation and we'd be fucked now as well
  11. I think his dying is the best option. Cue Monroe Transfer and one of his PMT posts
  12. Won't need anywhere near that many points to stay up. You can get 150/1 for us to get relegated so get on it you think there's any chance.

  14. Anita's been rubbish, albeit with some excuses perhaps, the other two are completely unproven. They could have conceivably performed better but you couldn't honestly say that's based on anything but wishful thinking. We'll have to disagree about the back four too. Either way saying Carver wants his arse kicked, or words to that effect, for not selecting your side is pretty harsh as he would've rightly got slaughtered had that side played and lost (which seems likely). Carver's not good enough but his hands were tied in terms of selection choices yesterday
  15. It's not like Carver had loads of options. Look at the bench, man. Not a defence of Carver in general as he's out of his depth but the side practically picks itself but it's not good enough.
  16. It's difficult to blame the players too because they're either shite and can't believe their luck or decent and hoping for move sooner rather than later. Not approving of the attitude but it's inevitable they aren't going to buy into the club if they're the latter. Also, re the coaching staff, I've mentioned it before but I know the club doctor. He'll be on more money than Stone and, quite possibly, more than Carver too. Crazy state of affairs. Two more who can't believe their luck
  17. That's where I am now like. Not even particularly arsed about losing to them lot. I resisted the temptation to watch it. The club's moribund and it's not going to get ant better under this owner. If you want to go that's one thing but don't bung him the ST money upfront and lose what little power you actually have
  18. for a fiver bet.Nicely summed up in general.
  19. Do yourselves a favour, man. They don't deserve your attention let alone your support.
