I remember when they invaded the board. That was hilarious. -

The year they won the league had a really good system with 3 at the back iirc. Including Aldair and Zago. Cafu and Candela were the wing backs. The latter could play on either side and was class but couldn’t get a look in for France with Thuram and Lizarazu. Capello played a 3-4-1-2 with Totti in the hole. The final bit of the jigsaw was Batistuta alongside Montella (usually I think) as the former had gone there when Fiorentina got relegated and had massive financial problems -

Tbf we played well against that Roma team given the side was in disarray after Gullit had been sacked and SBR had just taken over iirc. I think they won 1-0 over the two legs. Good side though and I think they won Serie A the year after that pipping Juve on the final day. -

No but it was nice to see Zago shit himself after acting the thug over the two legs prior to that -

Zago’s hard man act seemed to disappear a bit after Big Dunc did the wanker sign to him and basically offered him out on the pitch. Funny that -
Relatively nice then

I’ll tell what’s quite nice. Going into the office and on the display screens, when it scrolls through our new ministers and not despising each and every one of them.

Watched that and was just in awe of the level he can still perform at. But then saw the interview after and even by his prickly standards it was a completely WTAF? moment. He’s an odd one like.
-
Much higher standard though

Seeing how good Cannavaro was in the flesh almost made that game bearable -
ASM must’ve made a fucking fortune with his last 3 moves. Pleased for him if it happens as it’s a much more competitive league and he’s too young to be seeing out his career in Saudi Arabia

Aye, he was completely skint before the Burnley gig apparently. You have to wonder what might’ve happened if we’d appointed a decent manager instead of Souness back then. It started a decline the club never really recovered from until the recent takeover. The period where it seemed to be just about Shearer breaking Milburn’s record, to the detriment of the team was quite embarrassing imo. Bellamy wasn’t blameless, his not really having a long spell at any other club tells it’s own story. But Souness and his bullying tactics were never likely to work in the younger players. And it was galling to see Bellamy sold for peanuts only for Souness to be allowed to waste a fortune on lesser players. I do wish Bellamy luck and wonder if his hard times have given him a new perspective. Kompany obviously rates him. What I always admired about him was the way he played. Football would be better if everyone played like him. I would always argue with opposition fabs who hated him. The worst thing he ever did on the pitch was being a mouthy prick (so what?) He always gave 100%. He wasn’t a dirty player who left his foot in, he wasn’t a diver. He wasn’t a cheat at all. He actually played the game the right way imo -
The other side says ‘Are so fucking shit’

It’s true what they say about there being no funny right wing comedians

Delighted that Brendan Clarke-Smith lost his seat btw.

Doesn’t mean Reform’s lies shouldn’t be highlighted. I get that ‘Sharp’ is just a terminally dull WUM and that an explanation won’t be forthcoming. Because there isn’t one

Explain how a party that would slash public spending to fund tax cuts (that are even then completely unfunded and would cause a larger financial crisis than the Truss administration) are then going to be able to fulfil any of their promises.
-
Possibly the two who the members might go for but who are also power mad (and just actually mad) enough to take it. Hope so as a lurch further to the right isn’t what they need. And I’m all for the Tory party destroying itself even more

I’d be sorry to see him go in many ways. But now would be the time if the club wanted to cash in. And the FEWM from down the road would be incredible. You’d also have to think it would be player we could demand a decent fee for. Current England international with a year left on his contract. Coupled with premium their clubs have been willing to pay for other players
-
Sounds like him or his agent is trying to force the move of that’s true. And there’s a canny few footballers who’ve needed to raise substantial funds for a divorce settlement in the past, so it would make sense.

It’s done really well out of the levelling up agenda
