  1. Agree with what she said there but the views you highlight above I can’t get along with at all. I don’t know who she is as I’ve checked out of following this sort of thing to a large degree. But I think Baddiel is 100% correct in highlighting the various ways in which antisemitism is downplayed (and how he argues it should be considered to be exactly the same as any other form of racism - because it’s about ethnicity not religion). Putting that aside, it’s refreshing to hear a commentator espousing the sort of views shown in that clip on QT. Not that I watch it and have struggled to view more than the odd clip for years. But it appears to have been stacked with right wing cranks spouting bollocks for ages now. Maybe the BBC sense which way the wind’s blowing now.
  2. They always had a terrible (but deserved) disciplinary record going back as long as I can remember. Wenger didn’t even try and sort it out, because he never saw any incidents and never watches recordings of matches or replays of events within games
  3. The driving bit is ok but you shouldn’t be drinking. The first bit only applies if you’re a bloke
  4. I’m not sure how people know but a few people at work have said he was just over the limit
  5. I knew someone who used to keep referring to Lomano Lua Lua as Lua because they thought Lua was his first name and his surname
  6. Well they like false equivalence as much as they like faux moral outrage on there
  7. Agree with that but TP is right too. Punishment should fit the crime. It’s fucking stupid but relatively minor due to being just over. The magistrates will act accordingly, ie 12 month ban and fine. I.e. the minimum sanction. Although I think the fine takes into account earnings (which is fair enough). I think he’ll be sanctioned by the club, as he should, but also in line with the seriousness of it, so Howe won’t throw the book at him but will fine him and warn him about his future conduct
  8. Aye. Although no one really knows what it was like, it standing astride the harbour was impossible from an engineering pov and for other practical reasons and based on existing evidence etc. Unless HMHM has a bit of Greek ancestry
  9. A boring factoid followed by copious amounts of smutty schoolboy humour. A microcosm of this place tbh
  10. Did you know real Colossus of Rhodes didn’t stand astride the ancient harbour at Rhodes town? That said, that image definitely looks better on a souvenir t-shirt / ashtray / tea towel than the reality.
  11. She’s got a face like the Predator’s face
  12. What an idiot. Thankfully no one was hurt
  13. 5, I mean 4, I mean 3 , I mean 2 reasons Sunderland is better than Newcastle
  14. Was an abysmal match too (the Fulham one). Chez’s Bolivian marching powder couldn’t even hide that
  15. I spent a fair bit of time there in the 90s. When I’ve gone back recently (mainly pre-covid) and spent a lot of time there for work. I dunno. I still like it but, but while I know everything has changed, it’s so fucking synthetic now in loads of parts. I quite liked one time I couldn’t get a hotel near Whitehall and stayed just off Euston Road. At least it had a bit of an edge to it. Not that I fancy getting stabbed but you know what I mean. Peckham seems canny these days
  16. Take no notice of Isegrim. His Bach is worse than his bite
  17. Yeah, I knew what he meant, ie they’d get stuffed. Just thought the performance was worthy of a mention. They even had a couple of excellent chances before their first goal. And they looked like extending their lead more than anything 2nd half
  18. I like how they keep having a pop at our owners in the Southampton v Man City thread but were desperate for City to win
  19. He knew what he was doing. His ‘what?’ reaction. I’ve seen him do that / similar when he was here too. If he’d done that by accident he’d have been a lot more contrite imo.
