Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Alex replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
The amount of expectation it puts on these players too when they are overhyped and get international call ups so early is really unfair. -
I got the idea from an actual article Craig posted in general chat. So yours was funny and original

One of five out of England’s total resident water sommeliers apparently.

That’s the Don, Howe to you son

I think the verdict is like our takeover. The PL is just hoping they can keep kicking it into the long grass. Because that’s what the cartel wants and Masters is in their back pocket.

Rugby players started diving as soon as you could get opposition players sent off for high tackles as well. -
You know what? I don’t fucking care if it looks bad and we appear to be hypocritical if we get Wissa and don’t let Isak go. Fuck Isak, fuck Liverpool and fuck all the sycophantic cunts doing their bidding.

I hope the daft cunt got it off DHGate -
I don’t really know to be honest. But it wouldn’t surprise me if the option has been mentioned and those looking for a bigger story have assumed it’s purely the club’s decision. I mean, why wouldn’t they have already activated it and done so as soon as he had suitors?
-
I think the situation is the extra year can only be triggered if Wissa agrees to it. I’d be surprised if that wasn’t the case
-
Agreed apart from the two year bit. See OTF’s point above. That’s just the papers making more of a drama out of this. Why would the player sign the extension? I do though think that we should pay more than we’d previously been willing to (say £45m as a compromise). Apart from it being relatively little, what’s the alternative? Wrecking at least half of our season? Also it greatly strengthens our hand re: Isak and being less over a barrel but also when trying to sign another striker.

Playing his thistle whistle

Ideally, not that I have any faith in it happening, we sign another forward (even someone like Toney until Jan). Brentford know we’re desperate. If we could manage that then you’d see Wissa arrive for more like £35-40m imo
-
Good. It’s obvious that here was a much better bet for development whereas Chelsea was from a financial pov. He’s now stuck there because of the wages.
-
It’s just another way of making UEFA millions of pounds every year as the clubs only get fined for breaches
-
Who’s going to vote to change things? Man City, us, Villa and Forest? The cartel obviously won’t. Then the rest are happy with the status quo. Especially as we’ve not seen any promoted teams stay up for about 3 years. So you’ve got what? 8 clubs that are happy with being in the premier league without rocking the boat too much because the risk of going down seems to be diminishing all the time. I expect any ‘independent football regulator’ to be utterly toothless too when it comes to this. All you can hope to do is slowly build and try and beat them at their own game.
-
Not that I watched it, but even if they did play well they used up about 15 years worth of good luck in the first 2 seasons under Ten Hag
-
That’s fucking bang out of order. He was a dad and a CEO

But we’re not mates with them. Because of Oasis
-
Have we not signed any cunt yet? Oh, I see we have

I agree with Craig because the other ‘big 5’ seem as though they’re doing all they can, with a complicit PL, to restrict Man City. I also agree with what Toonpack said earlier. It’s one thing having a clause where you get a percentage of a future sale on a player. But having a clause where you can buy them back at a certain price in the future just seems wrong. If you’re prepared to actually sell the player you should have to take the risk that you can’t control where they go to from then on

It was mentioned a while back as a rumour going around. It was pointed out he was on penalty duties too. So Howe / Isak’s teammates couldn’t have thought Isak was trying to sabotage things. I suppose a more likely scenario is a middle ground where he’s still trying to put away the chances he gets but he’s keeping himself right and not busting a gut and prioritising his own fitness. I.e. so he doesn’t spoil the potential move with an injury. I also think his being tapped up by Liverpool and them telling his agent they’ll pay the asking price is more likely than him being promised he can leave by NUFC
