I think, with the PSR predicament/still trying to slowly build a top class squad, the longer term risk of not being able to sell them down the line far outweighs the shorter term risk of them not being available for the rest of the season. I agree with argument for keeping Longstaff as he allows midfield rotation and a decent option off the bench. But with Targett, he can only really play in one position and there’s probably 4 players - Hall, Burn, Livramento and possibly Kelly who Howe would prefer there. Similar with Almiron and Murphy, Barnes, Joelinton and Gordon. I get what you’re saying though, selling 3 players who’ve featured this season might be pushing our luck.

As well being run of the mill lazy journalism, the Thierry Henry comparisons are a reminder that Isak is the sort of player that should be playing for Arsenal / Arsenal are the sort of club Isak should be playing for.

I’m guessing that’s an arrangement which also suits his colleagues. I bet it’s a nightmare being his line manager.

I think he recently retired. I occasionally look at his blog. It veers from the sublime to the uncomfortably ridiculous but he mentioned it on there a while back I think. I did used to sometimes see him there though.

Yeah, or go to the Newton for an hour and do the same

Pure accidental Partridge. And there’s a legion of fuckers who think he’s profoundly ‘dropping big truths’

When my dad worked there you were allowed 45 mins per week (maybe a fortnight) to visit the onsite barbers. So obviously every single male employee there used that to go whether they were getting a haircut or not. I.e. if not just go and read the paper. I also remember the staff canteen with the bar next to it. With subsidised prices. A woman I worked with who did 3 days a week had 4 or 5 bottle of Lowenbrau Pils every lunchtime she was there. Whilst only taking a 30 minute lunch

I never actually take flexi leave although I do appreciate being able to work flexibly. I struggle to take all my annual leave. But the flexible working arrangements are more flexible than even back then. You don’t clock in and out with those plastic keys anymore though. That was incredibly open to abuse

Probably decided they no longer have the funding for the role and haven’t got the balls to just say that.

And what Renton says

Yeah. What ewerk says. The lack of professionalism around something as straightforward as this (ie even just getting back to you as a courtesy) doesn’t bode well for what they’d be like to work for imo.

I’ve got both on mine Tbf in this spell at Benton Park View (as it’s now known) it’s nothing like it was nearly 30 years ago, when I last worked there. Completely different department and type of role now too. Back then it was ridiculous like. People used to just disappear for hours and getting just pissed enough so the boss didn’t have to get involved was commonplace of a lunchtime. It’s still an odd place like

heard that one before and also seen it applied to the Ministry

Similar experience for me. Only I stayed in, ended up watching Final Score and was convinced Ray Stubbs had become an anthropomorphic rhinoceros

Tbf they celebrated our league cup final loss like they’d won something, so I suppose they might as well do the same for one of their own Wembley defeats

Lots of water under the bridge and KK and Ashley were never going to see eye to eye. But the tactical astuteness of KK is quite underrated imo. Especially by the time his second spell at the club came around. People also forget in terms of his ‘naivety’ that NUFC was his first job in management. I know we get it on here but a lot of people just go off cliches. Re: his second spell here, in that first part season the Owen thing was more than just man-management. The media had made a big deal of Owen’s criticism of KK in the former’s autobiography* and KK making Owen captain was a great hit of psychology. But getting Owen to play deeper, in a sort of old fashioned inside right position, with Viduka as the target man and Martins terrifying defenders with his pace wide left was really effective. And no fucker was playing a proper 4-3-3 in the premier league then. Don’t give me Mourinho with his 4-5-1. *Tbf Owen wouldn’t even have read it, let alone written it. The little cunt

used to have a really nice Santos top. Made by Kappa and no sponsor as it was some anniversary that season iirc. I went for the number 6 for Nilton Santos. Because Pele was too obvious and I was a proper football hipster back then (it wasn’t because it was the only one they had left in stock, honest). I wish I still had it but that early 2000s tight fit that Kappa had would probably cut off the circulation to my head and arms these days. Didn’t they win the Copa Libertadores 3 years running with Pele? I think they stopped entering as it was more lucrative to tour Europe and play friendlies against sides Real Madrid and Benfica (and NUFC iirc). No wonder Pele was past his best before he made 30. He’d spent well over a decade playing almost non stop -
I’d take it with a pinch of salt. The Times is nothing like the publication it once was and is more in line with Mail and Telegraph now

Just seen this but I knew them all bar Liam O’Brien and Kevin Scott. There’s a few on there who look like they’ve imbibed a fair bit down the years but I’d never have gotten those two off that photo
