I think the belief is that it’s most likely a factor. Like other risk factors, being exposed to more of the virus increases the risk of more serious infection. It makes sense though

Someone I know works for the NHS. They tested negative about a fortnight ago but have had a persistent cough (but no other symptoms bar mild fever) since then. They’ve been back working on the wards (including a shift on a specific COVID-19 Ward at the RVI) since then. Despite contacting Occupational Health several times like fuck can they get another test (they can’t even get a response). Official policy is they need to keep working. And they’re working with patients who, mostly, would be deemed as being in the higher risk bracket.
