i'd like to see him given a few games alongside owen next season. he's done well this season despite playing for the majority of it with a hip injury. i still have doubts over whether he'll ever be good enough to play week in week out but he's certainly not as bad as some make him out to be and in my opinion is a decent squad player to have.

they're two good players. i'm just not sure they're ideally suited to play together in the middle of a 4-4-2. i think they would both perform better if they were in a 3 man midfield. put an out and out holding player behind them and let them both play box to box and i think we'll see better results. parker didn't have as much defensive responsibilty when he was charlton and looked twice the player he has for us. that's not to say he hasn't perfomed the holding role well, just that there's more to his game than mopping up...

i agree about the lack of pace up front affecting his game. i also reckon he'd do better in a 3 man midfield, which may well happen if martin o'neil takes over.

a few dubious valuations up there like. personally, i'd be looking to sign a new centre half, a couple of new full backs - preferably ones that can also play at centre half - and a couple of new strikers. i think we've got enough quality in midfield but we're weak as piss up top and the less said about the defence the better. i'd get rid of boumsong, bramble, bowyer and elliot to anyone stupid enough to take them off our hands. god knows if we'll have to money left over to get the right players in. something tells me we won't be caining £5m+ on the likes of barry, petrov and anelka, or getting £8m for emre.
