it's made for defoe. he's not happy at spurs and he'd be an ideal replacement for owen as he's like for like. i say test the water them with a cheeky £7m bid.

that's my worry. shearer lost a good yard of pace through serious knee and ankle injuries but he was able to adapt and remodel his game. owen's game is all about his pace; without it, he contributes little. he'll always be a good finisher but we'll have to wait and see just how much this injury takes out of him. you have to wonder if he'll be a regular come the next world cup - i doubt it personally. he'll be 30 by then. this injury could end up meaning that he stays with us for his entire contract, depending on how he ends up. i can't see the biggest clubs around queuing up for to sign him for a while now like.

5 months sounds wildly optimistic for this kind of injury. i think 7-9 months, or even a year at the worst is proably closer to the mark

defoe would be the ideal and obvious replacement. he'd be a great addition. we could do worse than get him in alongside someone like fatty viduka. then play defoe and one other from viduka, shola and luque.
