  1. Did you have the radio ablation for pain relief KCG?
  2. If the surgery takes much longer than anticipated then it can start to wear off in which case we have to put them off to sleep with a general anaesthetic. There's never a case of "one minute it was working and the next I can feel everything" It's a gradual regaining of nerve sensation so we've always got time to do a GA.
  3. Spinal anaesthetic is a marvellous thing. Injection of local anaesthetic into the spinal fluid makes everything from that level down totally numb for 4hrs. We do hip/knee replacments/foot surgery/caesarians and lower limb amputations with the patient awake but unable to feel anything. We give sedation if they don't want to remember sawing or hammering, but some of them don't want it. We don't make them watch the surgery or anything
  4. Some people do cos they're awake when we do it
  5. 2 laparoscopies for girl stuff with another one on the cards. Can't beat the opening post but I get to watch surgery every day of my working life. Nowt like seeing bowels all over the table or a leg amputated before you have your dinner

  7. The old ones are the best. And I don't mean nurses!

Cherry choc-chip flapjacks have just come out of the oven if anyone wants one....?
  10. I have the urge to open more of the LEGO the bairn got for his birthday and make some stuff. He's at school but I'm sure he wouldn't mind
  11. For any space geeks there's a documentary on C4 tonight at 9pm about life on the ISS. Really looking forward to it.
  12. And you continue to be a complete arsehole.
  13. I really don't want him to be guilty and I don't know why - just an absolute gut feeling. The evidence from the post-mortem today was censured from being televised as it was so horrific and Pistorius was vomiting in court on hearing it. It's just so horrible
  14. Ouseburn might be the place. You can still do the sights along the river and it's far less pretentious and tedious than the hen/stag do route. http://www.barcrawl.co.uk/pubcrawl.aspx?Crawl=1856

    Blimey! What did he make?
  16. Okay, for you Gogglebox doubters it's on at 9pm on C4. Try it
  17. Well looks they really DO come in 3's. Yesterday I ripped the back of my hand open on a nail sticking out of the base of the bairn's bed, today my back has gone and the pain is horrible and tomorrow it's the bairn's 5th birthday complete with party for 30 of his friends. Gah.
  18. They come in three's so that should be you done for a while
  19. Not such Good News for Russell Howard after all then?!
