  1. πŸ˜‚ Yeah I have no idea why the text was in bold. I recently added a dark mode to my browser so that might have something to do with it. No need to add bold to my comments obviously; they speak for themselves πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  2. It will be interesting to see where Depay and Thuram end up given that they're both in the final year of their contracts. Not saying we'll definitely get one of the two given the competition involved, but Thuram especially could present incredible value. We much like Arsenal need to invest in a least one quality attacking player to help push us over the line in the second half of the season.
  3. We'll need to be considerably better away to Leicester, who were on a decent run of form before the break, and won 3-0 tonight albeit against MK Dons, to get anything. We're crying out for those transfer additions in midfield and attack if even only to freshen things up, even if you factor in being rusty tonight. Hopefully Isak will be back soon and firing to give us another option.
  4. Our pressing and closing down in packs of three or four has been poor compared to our usual standards. Understandable I suppose given this is the first competitive game back.
  5. πŸ˜‚ What do you mean stop it? I was literally relaying the FA's rules on interfering with play. That the ref says he disallowed it for that doesn't mean that Willock wasn't also possibly making other infringements. Again I'd need to watch the clip again, but the rules I mentioned are legit. "Offside offence interfering with an opponent by: preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent's line of vision or. challenging an opponent for the ball or. clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or."
  6. The commentator just confirmed that the ref said he saw a very slight touch from Willock for the disallowed goal. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  7. Wilson took the ball under and through Willock didn't he. It's a fairly subjective rule, but I've seen worse calls on interfering with play.
  8. If you obstruct the keepers view, prevent him from coming for the ball, or even attempt to play the ball without actually touching it when in an offside position, it's interfering with play. The ball went under Willock as far as I recall and he attempted to play it, so it he could be said to be interfering on all of the above counts.
  9. Yeah I'd need to watch it again, but that appears to be what the officials ruled it out for in any case. If Willock was offside even attempting to play the ball and obscuring the keeper's view and ability to come for the ball counts as interfering with play.
  10. It's the video down the bottom of the page, and I assume your head will be wrecked with pop ads unless you have an adblocker. Motor News - Stream 2
  11. Well we've repeatedly been linked to left sided players for big money, so I'd say it's looking like that. Plus I think it was Craig Hope that reported that the club told ASM that they would have taken 40m+ for him last summer but we didn't get an offer in that bracket for him. So whether it's January or next summer ASM will most likely be sold unless form or injury bring down his value to such an extent that we can't sell him for what we want. I think ASM is too erratic of a player for Howe's tastes regardless of his undoubted skill on the ball.
  12. Probably, at least in the sense that we have a chance of signing him in the near future as opposed to not even being interested. Their chairman is notoriously difficult to deal with. Having said that they signed him for 10m so they might be tempted to cash in early depending on the offer. I have heard that given his talent and only being 21 they value him at over 100m, so they probably think they can keep him for at least one more season before selling for something close to that. But again a lot can happen with form and injury in a season or two so they might be tempted to sell depending on their current financial situation.
  13. You need new material mate. It would be a very quiet and boring transfer thread without rumours. Plus I think an article in the Times should probably pass the sniff test of being of a decent source and therefore of interest regardless of whether anything ever comes of our supposed interest in the player. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  14. Having looked into it a bit this Georgian lad, who I'll call Kev, would be cheap at the 50m that Hardy is quoting. I don't read the Times so I don't know how often Hardy makes claims about players that turn out to be false. Of course Hardy could be spot on in terms of us scouting him extensively, it just remains to be seen if we'd pull the trigger and how difficult it would be to do so if we are determined to sign him.
  15. Newcastle identify Β£50m Napoli star as β€˜major transfer target’ - The Times | NUFC Blog It would be nice to have our own Kinkladze. If we sign this fella I think ASM leaving in the summer is a forgone conclusion. He'll perhaps even leave in Jan if the right offer came in.
  16. Great experience for Kuol. If you can come on in the last 16 against Argentina and be unfortunate to not score, then the spotlight of the premier league shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  17. Who's Lawrence Fox, and what's he got to do with Saka and Rashford? Was he caught sending them racist messages?
  18. Iranians could be excused for being out of sorts given there's a civil war ongoing in their country where innocent civilians are being shot in the streets.
  19. And if Wilson doesn't score a goal for the rest of the tournament and never plays for England in a major tournament again, will it still be the right decision to pass to Grealish when they were 5-1 up near the end of the game. And my response in the last comment was meant as a joke as well πŸ‘
  20. The gifs are out so you win the argument obviously πŸ˜‚
  21. I'm not having a go at him, I wanted him to score so he could have enjoyed that moment.
  22. You're 5-1 up and it's probably going to be your one and only World cup, of course you go for it. Even Lineker and Shearer were baffled given both their mentalities when it came to scoring goals. If you're playing better opposition later in the tournament, and it's a tight game, then yes I can see the case for playing the percentages.
  23. I wish Wilson had of just went for it. The game is well over by then, just belt it. People saying well he maybe just wants ingratiate himself with Southgate, but if I was a manager I'd want my striker to be a bit more greedy given the context of the game at that point. Obviously I couldn't care less what England do at the world cup, but I still want to see Tripps and Wilson do well, and Pope of course in the unlikely event he gets a chance.
