  1. So did Wor Jackie, as did our reserve team coach Lee Clark. Sir John Hall the man who along with KK saved us, used to own a season ticket for Roker Park. Stan Seymour Snr, a man credited for being "Mr NUFC" and a key figure in our club's history - was a mackem. Shay's only winners medal was won at sunderland. Sir Bobby Robson used to go to Roker Park to watch them play, as did your grandad most probably, or certainly his father. What does this mean? Nowt. And nor should it. Anyone who refuses to accept a player or manager because they have played for the mackems, or are one, is a cretin, simple as. PS Dabs on longest thread title award if there ever is one
  2. I'm hardly being an extremist here in my opinion, and from opinions when talking to mates/general randoms (obv. not internet randoms). I would take Fergie, I wouldn't take Mourinho. I think he has pushed the limit too far and there is a clear difference between him and the rest if you're not blinded by the sparkle of trophies. People have tried to generalise this, but all I ever said was I don't want Mourinho anywhere near this club, nothing more nothing less. Aye, fair enough then and fair play to sticking to your guns/principles as well. Still think you're an idiot mad though
  3. Wartime football, played a few times for the mackems. He also claimed Roker Park to be his second favourite stadium after St. James' Park and that he could only ever play for either us, or them if not us, and no-one else. Don't go spreading this though, as the "stan up if you ate sunlun" brigade will be livid
  4. Steve, having principles are fine but when they clash with realism too much like yours... Where do you draw the line BTW? You'll never get the perfect team managed by the perfect manager.
  5. For me Allardyce is the best manager outside of the top 4 and streets ahead of Roeder in almost every aspect. I'm not bothered by the lack of trophies on his CV (Souness had loads) or his brand of football (yet better than what we've churned out for a number of years) or whether he talks crap in the media (they all do, even KK did) or the fact he once played for the mackems (so fucking what, so did Jackie Milburn and Sir John Hall once had a season ticket there). No, I prefer to look at results on and off the pitch - the things he has achieved at Bolton - and his own personal skillset which includes all the right things like good grasp of tactics, discipline, motivation, talent spotting, man management, high standards and work ethic. Ideal in every sense.
  6. You wouldn't catch me walking along that road, the West Road or Elswick late at night. Getting worse around that area, won't be long before this kind of thing happens again.
  7. Parents want slapped for this, heard it on the radio the day, shocking. Says it all when I'm more shocked about the fact they left their kids alone, than someone taking one of them. /if true Also, still feel for them though, poor bastards.
  8. Aye, lets not consider a manager who has all the required skills, is available and is more than good enough for us, because he once played for the mackems, talks shite in the papers and because his football team doesn't play like Arsenal. That should narrow it down a bit like. PS Using his mackem link is so like the mackems, how small minded and silly. Bit like not wanting Mourinho because he comes across as a cock on telly, really.
  9. "You don't sack Sir Bobby Robson" FS a few weeks before he err, killed Bambi.
  10. Anyone who wouldn't like Mourinho as our manager is an idiot, and more so based on something as silly as "he's a cock". And you know him personally? Jesus wept. Mourinho may say some disrespectful things and may appear arrogant but you don't achieve what he has by being a cock. And even if he is, who would honestly give a damn? He doesn't beat people up, hasn't killed anyone or is some kind of scum. What next...? "Take those three points back Mr FA, that was never onside that winning goal from Martins"
  11. To be honest, I think the 10 point deduction for going into administration is ridiculous anyway. I know Leeds' situation is different but most of those clubs who have struggled in recent years have not been helped by the ITV Digital fiasco. They've been relegated so by default, they're going to suffer financial losses and given the situation they were in, there was that risk. And I can't say for certain, but if they are allowed to apply it this season, I don't think it'll be unprecedented. Agreed, daft rules. I know why they exist, to force owners to run their clubs properly but howay man, the Football League, FA et al aren't even run properly. I imagine, straight or otherwise, it to be bloody hard to run any club outside of the top-flight financially well. If the top end of the game (Freddy won't like this) actually helped the lower end more, what with all their billions... I think this rule should be abolished. Persecute the owners not the club and fans.
  12. Don't know about top 10 lists but Kirsten Dunst would be top of my list, seen her on Jonathan Ross the other night.... Give me a bonny understated lass over some big titted obvious FHM bird.
  13. Watched something on TV about them the other night, he seems a canny bloke and she seems OK too I like them and say good luck to them.
  14. Anyway, to the real reason for my presence. Anyone wanna help me set up campaign website....
  15. The fact he's went out of his way to bring technically gifted players to his club once he established them is more than a sign that he at leasts sees another side to the game other than lumping it forward. BTW - no - we are the extreme too far and have been since SBR left.
  16. When you're unemployed like me, you do what you can.
  17. Well said Grassroots the kids a cock I try to resist taking a bitter stance towards ex players of ours or any footballer really, but where Bellamy is concerned I'd piss myself laughing if he missed a year of football or something through injury, or was ran over while out getting pissed. Fuck him, feel angry just thinking about what he did. *ok I wouldn't wish that on him, but he'd get no sympathy from me*
  18. Like others have said, there are only really two good footballing sides in England, Man Utd and Arsenal, the rest are a much of a muchness. And even then Arsenal or Man Utd don't play like that every week, we didn't even under KK as I can remember a few abject games (although we always tried) so I think fans need to knock that idealism on the head, much like us wanting much better. There aren't many much better, not who we could attract or have the will to try. I'd take scrappy football for points on the board like, if that's what it will take to be successful. We've been entertained and still won nowt. A few seasons of Bolton style football will be find with me... they aren't that bad anyway. No different to Chelsea and Liverpool.
  19. Unless the reason he's left is because he already has a job lined up that isn't us, or because he needsa break from management for a while then i think he would defiitely take the job. He came close to taking it the last time it was offered, finally deciding then not to. There won't be a better job in the prem available as the top 4 don't need managers, and the likes of Spurs, Everton etc. will be happy with theirs (for those who believe they're better jobs than here), so if he's wanting to stay in the prem here then this is the one for him to take. This is make or break time for him like, I agree. He turned us down once (twice if rumours are true) for whatever reason but much like us, this could be his one and only chance to do it - be the manager who thinks he can be and do the job he is clearly desperate to get stuck into. Can't see England come calling, think the bungs thing and some of Big Sam's comments about their process burnt a few bridges and while City could be a good job for him, I know which one I'd choose, Toon or no Toon bias. Very strange all this though, he's not daft so a few things don't make sense. I'm not buying the Man City promise thing, he turned us down because there was no guarantees about full control etc. (again based on rumours) so why would he jack in his job and life on the off chance some people will but City and install him as manager. Anyway, sadly I can't see him here like, as much as I'd like to see it happen. I think he'll take a year out and see what happens with McLaren with England.
  20. Not me, good player (not as good as some claim though), but not worth the hassle. We did well with Bellamy in the side of course but we never won anything and it wasn't as if he was our most productive player in that spell. I.e. someone who warrants hero worship or bumming as has went on. Bloke's a little cock end who I personally hope breaks his leg or something. Deserves it because he has zero respect for anyone or the game itself.
  21. Aye, that's the way I see it myself Papa. Like most I guess, I'd prefer someone whose football principles are a little more expansive and someone with all his skills but with some European and trophy success (not Sven) but that's like asking for someone that doesn't exist given the way our club is ran and to be honest, no such manager would touch us. Big Sam is the best British manager out there and significantly much better than Roeder, and now he's available, why not. If he says no, fair enough. Then stick with Roeder. Furthermore, if the board really do see Shearer as the one then him taking over a well ran club would give him and us more of a chance than him taking over from Roeder or some other crap manager. Imagine Shearer coming here and having to restructure the whole club, and learn the ropes at the same time...
  22. I won't laugh, could happen to anyone outside of the top 4 to be honest and given the way we are ran which isn't too disimilar to how Leeds were (spending money we don't have and the wages getting out of hand etc), we are more likely to do a Leeds than win the league or even challenge for it. Under these idiots anyway. Mind, you could also say, well at least we aren't Leeds and for all Freddy's faults, he's no Bates/Risdale...
  23. Not really fussed myself. Could actually work in our favour. They will need to spend big mind and even then, there is no guarantee. Next season suddenly becomes a tad more interesting anyway.
