3 year old girl gone missing in portugal
Howaythetoon replied to Smooth Operator's topic in General Chat
I was listening to the radio the day and the bairn's grandmother was on or someone related to the family feilding questions about their criticism of the polis in Portugal. Sorry but you should be having a word with the fucking parents pet and thanking any help that comes your way or better still just keep your gobs shut. Fingers crossed for the safe return of the kid. -
Just a bit of paper. You need one if you own a television to watch television. The Beeb are funded by it because they aren't allowed to show ads. It's a good thing imo as no one else makes some of the programmes like the BBC. It is a bit of a strange concept I suppose. Without wanting to go off topic, I personally think the whole TV licence thing is a disgrace, the fact you can go to prison for non payment is pathetic and so is their bully boy tactics, they get told to fuck off when they knock on my door. Boils my piss all that. Check this out: http://www.spiderbomb.com/tv/womenprison.html They make fortunes BTW selling their DVDs and such, not to mention their programmes to other countries.

Skol Heighway is someone Rafa has criticised and who many Reds regard as someone who isn't doing a good job at their own academy, incase you don't know. What gives you the impression he's any good BTW, out of interest? Can't remember Liverpool producing many good youngsters not since Gerrard really. My own choice would be Simon Clifford <link: http://www.icfds.com/content2/index.php?op...&Itemid=125 > (as football development officer which would covere the development of all players, youth up to senior level and of course community level), sadly I doubt he will join us but we are guaranteed to seek his advice as Sam did at Bolton, which is better than nowt. Edit: Clifford is rumoured to be the man Big Sam wanted to oversee player development for the FA across the country had he gotten the gig so you never know.
-
Using us to get what he wants at Hull IMO, has always wanted to be a manager that's why he left Bolton in the first place. Doubt he'll join us. Very good number 2 though.
-
Yes please, very good player who Big Sam has shown can handle and get the best out of. However ideally I'd prefer it if we looked elsewhere first but if we do go for him and get him, I'd welcome his signing. Can see him moving abroad though myself.

Not being funny or owt but if some of you are that unhappy in your job why fucking do it?

In what world does a director of football report to the manager? Behave. Ask Baggio, he'll confirm for you. Pretty sure they will have to at some point.

Remember my managerial appointments theory?
Howaythetoon replied to Lazarus's topic in Newcastle Forum
For other omens. KK - success Dalglish - failure Gullit - failure Sir Bobby - success Souness - failure Roeder - failure Big Sam - ?? I actually liken Big Sam's appointment to KK's, someone who ticks all the boxes or most of them and not someone who is a direct opposite of the previous manager. -
I think many of the problems with some of our players is a lack of leadership and direction, without that any group will break down and go different ways or become disenfranchised with things. In Big Sam they will be lead and a new direction will be introduced. Those that aren't up for it will quickly be peddled, unlike under previous managers, and this in itself will make the group tighter, more focused and much more together than it has been. It won't be easy for the new man but I expect this to be one area that won't be of concern in the coming months and years, once he has his feet under the table and has assessed everything.

Shearer - Owen is staying at Newcastle United
Howaythetoon replied to smoggeordie's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think he'll stay like although I'd like to see us get some money for him, even at a loss, as he'll be worth next to nowt soon and I doubt he'll renew his contract, after all he did the dirty on a club he'd been at since he was a bairn, a club where he won trophies at. He won't think twice about doing the same here at Newcastle in my opinion if next season is no different. That said, it is up to us to keep him if that is what we want and the only way to do that is to achieve success on the pitch and being the player he is, he'll be a key factor in whether that happens or not. /best scenario -
We looked at a whole host of managers after Sir Bobby and not just Sam Allardyce, so your point is pretty meaningless. Bruce was our first choice BTW.

I'll put in on record that I prefer Big Sam than the other two. Take a look at Houllier's transfer market record when he was at Liverpool. Bloody atrocious. Cisse, Sinama-Pongole and add another 6 or 7 French players to that list totalling about 20m. Waste of money. He's doing well in the French League, because he knows the French system back to front and he's managing the strongest French team at Lyon. If he came to Newcastle I'd have absolutely no confidence in him when it came to bringing players in. As for Sven, he was on a ridiculously high salary when he managed England. His aim was toi build for the World Cup last year, and he did absolutely nothing. Some of his selections were mind boggling. How the hell do you pick a 17 year old (Wallcott) with no Premiership experience over one (Defoe) with a proven record playing at the highest level? Why did he rely on a player who was unfit and played no games leading up to the WC (Owen) to score you goals? Why keep faith in a player who broke his foot (Rooney) and wasn't going to be fit enough to do any good anyway? All the decent teams in the WC started slowly and progressively got better as the tournament went on. England didn't. If anything we got worse. As for his days at Lazio, yes he won the Scudetto, but he had money to spend. Lazio had to top the spending list in Italy at the time to achieve what they did. I think Newcastle and Sam are a perfect match. The 4 year contract he's about to sign suggests that the club will not be able to fork out the money that has been made available to previous managers. Hasn't Fred released something like 300m to 5 managers??? Most of it bloody wasted. We are in debt to a tune of something like 80m. Haven't studied the facts and figures but it'll probably take 4 years to clear the debt we have. In saying that, 15-20m will probably be available to Sam every year. 15-20m is a huge amount considering how much Sam was able to spend at Bolton. That's a goldmine for him and he'll spend it wisely. Aty least with Sam he won't buy another Luque for 10m ffs. Sam and his backroom staff also have a proven record when it comes to injuries. Bolton have the best record when it comes to keeping players on the field. Newcastle have the worst by a country mile. Again, a perfect match between Sam and the club. No more getting crock players like Babayaro (who was always injured at Chelsea before we were stupid enough to bring him to the club ffs). If the current training regime and recuperation methods have flaws in it (which it must have) then Sam and his backroom staff will pick up on and fix. Considering where the club is right now, Sam is the perfect manager. I just want to see the club heading in the right direction, like everyone else and I'm sure he's the man to do it. In a perfect world we'd all like to see changes in the boardroom or at least a change in the chairman, but this won't ever happen. Not for a long while anyway. Freddy wants the Hall family to sell up there shares so he can buy them and take full control so we know Fred's at the club for the long haul. What can be fixed though is the coaching methods and the players who are too comfortable at the club. It's the next best thing possible. Couldn't agree more, spot on. For once the club have looked at all the areas within the club that either don't exist, need fixed or need implimented and went for a man not only capable of identifying such things but also implementing them and acheiving success in those areas too. Furthermore a man who has on a limited budget, achieved a higher average finish in his years as a Premiership manager, than we have, despite some £250m spent compared to -£££ at Bolton. He is clearly the right man for the job, a manager neither Souness nor Roeder were or were ever going to become. We can now look forward with some degree of confidence, excitement and whisper it... hope. Something distinctly lacking over the past few years.

It's the scraping of a barrel Come on though, how can he honestly have 28 staffers, if he's not counting the tea-lady or PA's? And how many of those have we not already got? How many are actual experts in something we don't have represented at the club? I know we were hiring nutritionists 10 years ago, because we got stung for hiring some daft bint who'd forged her credentials. I just dont think people know what they're on about with flowery statements about backroom staffs etc. Hmmm 28 staff specialising in specific jobs compared to Terry Mac and Clarkey? decisions, decisions But you're meant to name them. Play the game! I thought of another one he's probably included: Cheerleading Coach Give us a B, give us an S, Whaddya got!!!!! Boring sod? Bull Shit?

Shearer was saying pretty much the same thing on MOTD the other night - something about "big egos" needing "sorted".
-
Dry humped him tbh. Pre-dated him tbh.

Don't really rate Sidwell based on what I've seen, OK player but nowt special and not an improvement on Parker or Butt and I'd prefer any new player that does come in to be bought directly for the first-team meaning that player pushes the likes of Parker et al down the pecking order thus improving not only the first-team but the overal squad too.

As long as it isn't diving then I would have to agree. Aye, I hate it myself and that would turn my face. But it wouldn't have any bearing on my support or anything like that.
