As a 'for instance', I went to the Shearer testimonial, and have no memory of Shepherd being booed (not saying it didn't happen but clearly it was not important to me). In fact it was my favourite game of that year, as the football under Shepherd was fucking awful at that time (worse than now in fact). I bought a 'Shearer' shirt (one of two replicas I own) and felt pretty good that for once the prfits were going to a good cause. In essence, it was a great night out in a fucking horrible season.
