  1. It is a trick question: the answer is the boxing world champion Joe Louis. He was stationed near merseyside during the war, and 'signed' for liverpool as a PR / morale thing in 1944. He trained with them to keep his fitness up but never actually played.
  2. Does this involve wartime appearances? At risk of blasphemy, was it the Unwashed? Aye... on both accounts Played twice for Sunderland during 1944/45. Albert Stubbins did too a few years earlier and scored a wartime cup final goal for them! Check out the bottom of this section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyne-Wear_der...sing_the_Divide For Wor Jackie's admission of favouring the Mackems as a kid, look here: http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcast...-name_page.html Thing is, there are pockets of mackems all over Northumberland...theres a pub in Seahouses thats a shrine to the filthy fuckers and Berwick is chocka with them. Someone once told me it was something to do with them being from County Durham and the influence that Durham Cathedral had all the way up to Scotland. Fuck knows if its true and how its supposed to work but this bloke (I think he was a Berwick mackem himself) reckoned that was why. Maybe the Milburns/Charltons were part of that clique because Bobby Charlton has said he watched them as a kid too, although he stops short of saying he supported them. It was in his last book. There's a little place called North Sunderland just outside Seahouses as well which doesn't help. Do Jackies family have something to do with the Victoria in Bamburgh or am I just imagining it?
  3. Trick question this one, but anyway: Who was the first black man to sign for Liverpool?
  4. I can't make it out either. The one that sees off the alligators is quality.
  5. Scored for both sides in a merseyside derby? Bonus question, can you name the first? The only other players I can think of who played for both are Barmby (who was obviously after Pedro) and Steve McMahon but he wasn't exactly prolific was he?
  6. Scored for both sides in a merseyside derby?
  7. Very surprising that. They always seemed to have a decent season followed by a terrible one. Who's scored in a merseyside, a Manchester and an Old Firm Derby?
  8. Was their away record better than their home record?
  9. Ron Saunders resigned after the quarters or semis, Tony barton took over for the final iirc.
  10. Lineker shat himself against either Ireland or Holland at Italia '90, can't remember which.
  11. Why don't you sleep on Leazes sofa?
  12. Go to 'My Controls' then look for 'Edit Avatar Settings'.
  13. She's grown on me. Always very well presented. She looks canny tidy enough on You're Hired now.
  14. Aye we played Sporting in a tournament at home. There was us Sporting, Boro and someone else who escapes my mind. That was the final on the Sunday, we were 3-0 up at ht, but lost 3-5 and Figo was magic. Canny bit of trivia that. Any ideas of the highest goalscorer ever in world football? I genuinely don't know. I've heard Pele and Romario but apparantly Romario classed a lot of friendlies etc. Any actual stats about? Here's one though. Leading scorer in champions league history? That's Raul isn't it? In world history? don't talk shite CL History it's Raul though. Pele counted kids games, friendlies, testimonials, exhibition games, all sorts in his total.

  16. When they play that orchestral version of Sigur Ros it reminds me of Bobby getting his lifetime achievement award, and a year or two after them playing it again as part of his memorial. Can feel myself filling up, soft shite.
