  1. Still can't score, even in League 1. Funny that.
  2. If level of spending is the sole measure of ambition then we should all take our hats off to Rangers and their efforts!! If there is any justice then they should win champions league next year! What is the net spend if you remove the INSANE £35 million for Carroll??? how does the 4 year period you have imposed look then?? Interesting to know that in 19 years Arsenal have a net spend of around £20 million.... wow!! I for one could not give a flying fuck how much the net spend is, I gauge success in the transfer market by how much improvement i can see in the team/squad/club. Given that mistakes have been made, i think the improvement in the team is a mark of how a different approach is (at this moment in time,) getting results and improving the club. If we improve the team and squad AND somehow make some money on transfers, how can that be a bad thing?? Granted i'd like to see the money reinvested, BUT I am showing some faith in the policy of getting value in transfers. Yes, Ashley will not spunk 5 years worth of sponsorship on one player, but how is that wrong, given that the previous approach won us fuck all!! this this and this! It doesnt matter how much we spend on a player. As NUFC fans we should know that, it matters about who we bring in and recently we have brought in some great players! plus Gabriel Obertan
  3. Baffling. I wonder if this about money rather than success. Perhaps Clarke was taking a 'back me or sack me', on the basis he was demanding money for signings/loans to take the club to the next level? Perhaps a Keegan-esque flounce about it 'not being like the brochure' and the chairman's stared him down. Failing that, some personal indiscretion which makes his position untenable (but that being the case, you'd probably expect Clarkey to go quietly). I can't believe it's about results, that would be mental.
  4. Agreed Gem, if you're going to troll a MB at least be subtle or amusing about it. This lad's 2 and 0 It's hammer time, Ant.
  5. I doubt there's a special 'pocket' for transfers, just a bank account. be interesting to see if any of Ashley's loan has been repaid as the club's financial position has improved, anyone know the position on this?
  6. * sigh * You reading this Ant?
  7. Setting the league alight.....
  8. Could be the case but do you not think that could also decribe at LEAST half of all footballers (and us normal folk as well?) ? Also, if he's a jimmy no mates at Liverpool and has taken on the life of a nun then it does not seem to be helping? I personally think living a little helps! I think there's living a little and then there's pissing your talent up the wall, and I suspect he's doing the latter. Probably not an issue while he's young but it'll catch up with him sooner rather than later. And I'd expect LFC would expect him to be ultra-professional for the wedge he's on.
  9. I'm sure that's exactly the sort of thing Ashley would have turned up during due diligence. Oh bugger.
  10. Dalglish won't sell him imo because he would have to admit he'd made a 35 million mistake. I suspect (but can't prove) that we sold him not just because the money was too good to turn down but also because off the field he's a pikey beer swilling burger munching party-till-dawn kind of guy. I suspect he's already hit the high watermark of his career as a result.
  11. as long as you're not epileptic

  14. Does anyone care, really? If anything it gives mccoist an excuse for coming second, which looks likely anyway given Rangers' form.
  15. I reckon Bendtner and Cattermole on the night could do some real damage in the centre too
  16. If I could turn back tiiiiimmmee If I could find a wayeeeee

    The Falklands

You're right about the junta. Of course we've been happy to do business with evil dictators before and since, scruples don't usually play a part in most countries' foreign policy....... Like Pinochet. Exactly. And Saddam Hussein, probably
  18. More like the next Stephen Glass. I'm sure he drew the odd flattering comment too when he was breaking into the first team........ The new Tony Green. I shit thee not. I think it was Alan Oliver who said that though. Fucking hell
