  1. Messi was never a step over, tricky type of player though. When prime messi was on a run the ball was literally glued to his foot, and he was incredibly difficult to knock off the ball. He used to go past the full 11 opposition players on his way to goal. Probably, still does but in the MLS it doesn’t count. So he did it just differently to Pele, the kid is a fucking wizard. I honestly don’t get the greatest arguments though (even though I tongue in cheek involved myself in one earlier) because it’s subjective and everyone has a different reason for why they feel it’s Pele, Maradona etc. You could argue that Pele couldn’t have hacked the modern game as defenders are fitter, bigger, stronger and faster than in his day. Then again, he was intelligent and could adapt. Maradona would have done an Eriksen in his first month in the modern game as the intensity and the Charlie combined.
  2. Tested himself in France, and finished his career stealing a living in America. Similar trajectory to Pele - only with an extra layer of complexity
  3. Looks shit. Give me pissy rain and unseasonably cold for May any day of the week.
  4. Twist, but not too hard or his knees might go again.
  5. It doesn't matter anyway, because both are second and third to Messi. Only people wearing the rose tinted spectacles that went out of fashion in the 70s and 80s would think otherwise
  6. The twitter response from them should be exceptional.
  7. For their countries they are probably neck and neck - with Pele coming out on top, but overall Maradona has to go down as the better player for me. Pele never tested himself at club level, and stayed where his record could get some padding/massaging - and even counted friendlies in his overall stats (which if you counted friendlies for Messi and the Portuguese rapist he'd probably be some distance behind them). Maradona at the very least tested himself (and the local marching powders) in different countries, and excelled. Pele stayed in Brazil and went to the states which sets him back for me as he never put his ability to the test at an actually good standard at club level. Plus Maradona would have jawed him, all day, every day.
  8. They gave it to us tbf, even rolled out a black and white carpet for our arrival. That's even more embarrassing for them than us taking it, good, proper or otherwise
  9. This just made me wish for a moment where a Barry rocked up on GoT and claimed the iron throne for himself. Made the actual ending feel even shitter tbh
  10. I’m unclear. Do they think the frat boy lacks class?
  11. The Von Erichs. It’s a proper miserable story. The dark side of the ring episode on it by Vice is fucking brutal.
  12. The bit where his racing pigeons die broke my heart.
  13. The Brighton? It was comfortably the best takeaway in the region IMO. Insanely good food, and proper cheap too. They closed it to expand their supermarket next door, which still hurts to think about. However, it's worth knowing the supermarket still does their onion bhajis and samosas if you're ever up at the top, and they are still fucking sensational.
  14. If you stick to Stanhope Street you'll be fine. If you accidentally enter new mills or the dwellings then I hope you run fucking quickly
  15. Having his ear chewed off by a coke addled scouser, all so he can pretend to be a canny lad, but really so he can tell us all on here. Also, 3-1 to us. They score first, we rally back and batter them.
  16. I DID change, that's why I move away from Elswick over 15 years ago thank you very much. Though I did only move to Arthur's Hill, so it was really out of the frying pan and into a very similar frying pan.
  17. Elswick has obviously changed since I last lived there
  18. The mackems and blackpool were the two best results for reform it appears. What a surprise.
  19. Driving to work down the high street shortly. I have a mad max type car so I’m taking cunts out as I go.
  20. The hair lineup at the back is spot on though, very medieval.
