Virgin plans Sports News channel...and sky loses massive audience
Gemmill replied to Happy Face's topic in Newcastle Forum
Well my mam, who was previously on basic - no sports, no movies, no V+ - got all of those added and her broadband upgraded with a sizeable discount on what she was previously paying. She did quote the stuff on the mackem site and was told that that deal was impossible, so I think you're right, there's some exaggerating going on there, but there are definitely advantages to ringing up and telling them you're leaving. -
He's right about failure being engrained in the badge. It's as much a part of NUFC as fat blokes with their tops off.

Next season they're going to see a fall in average attendances for home games I reckon. I reckon you might get around 10-15% not renewing, and that won't be made up by people buying on the day. I reckon the average for next season will be in the low to mid-40s. If they could encourage people to renew by lopping 10-15% off the ticket prices, they could probably break even on it in terms of season ticket sales, then if we did have a good season, make more on top of that on general sale tickets. When you factor in the increased TV money, the correct business decision might well be to cut the prices for the coming season. And that doesn't even take into account the goodwill factor with the fans.

Is he fuck man, he hasn't released anything listenable since the 80s. Too busy sleeping with bairns I imagine. Class act. -
Christ, he's a tit isn't he. I think there's some merit in what he says - giving reserve keepers a cap from time to time, but it's hardly Shay's fault the manager keeps picking him. What's he meant to do, refuse to play for his country so that the reserves get a go. Engage brain, Roy. Then speak. There's a good lad.

Wouldn't Anthea be better off writing about something she knows about. "How to be a vacuous tart" for instance.

Virgin plans Sports News channel...and sky loses massive audience

When I rang up to cancel the tv just now the bloke was adamant the SSN would be back soon. Told him I didn't give a toss since it's on freeview anyway and I currently seem to be paying £5.50 a month for E4. I've not seen it anywhere, but are Virgin upgrading everyones internet for free in may? Everyone I know who's rang up has been bumped to the next package....from May. Why not straight away? When we complained about the loss of the Sky channels they gave us a 20 quid discount to stay with them, and this is a permanent deal! So for £39 a month we get all the channels except the Movies, boadband, and the telephone. Seems like a good deal to me. Best of all if they get Sky one and SSN back we'll get this too. Did you get V+ too? You should have - they gave it to my mam for nowt. No, but I'm paying less than 40 quid and get the football etc. How much is she paying? Hopefully if I upgrade to it I can take my 20 quid discount, which is itemized on the bill. What she pays is complicated slightly by the fact that she has two extra phonelines etc - they have a home office that they run a business from. I think they're paying about £80 for three phonelines with the talk anytime thing on, 10 meg broadband, and full package TV with V+. -

My mam rang up and got their VIP package, V+, the sports and movies and a broadband upgrade. And all for a chunk less than she had previously been paying. They've had to delay the installation of V+ by a month though cos they've run out of boxes. -
Everyone knows you can only get good food in London from the foreigners. To be fair, the same applies to the rest of Britain. You're from Switzerland! Your national dish is the cuckoo clock!

Roeder: No one could have done better than me!
Gemmill replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'm not in love with Roeder or anything. I just feel that there are always alternative viewpoints, and the board would be one big circle-jerk if someone didn't point them out! Circle Jerk? Are you actually American? It's a wank-wheel man. A merry-go-wank. -
Or McClaren. He got the job on the back of 3 flukey results in Europe he has never looked like emulating. That's the top and bottom of it. Clawing back deficits against sub-standard European sides using the subtle tactical approach of ZOMG 4-2-4 FOR DA LAST HALF HOUR!!!1111, and they gave him the England job. A cursory glance at the league table would have shown them that Boro finished 16th that season, and that they were doing the club a favour by taking him off their hands. I don't think Allardyce is England manager material, but he'd be getting a LOT more out of this lot than McClaren is, and without any PR gurus on the scene. Apparently McClaren is picking up £2.5m a year btw - wtf?!

North Shields to Felling. About half an hour. I used to do North Shields to Billingham - twice a day through the tunnel. That wasn't much fun, and it cost a fortune in petrol!

He looked a natural finisher, that's for sure.

I had that match on with the sound off and that was the only point I turned it up. Didn't look too good at first, but aye apparently he'll be fine for their next game.

Rocky Balboa. The first two Rockys are class, III, IV and V are all ropey, but I just didn't see the point in this one. Or Rocky V tbh. Who wants to see Rocky doing the "last hurrah" thing as a washed up old has-been? He looked rough as fuck and had varicose veins in his arms and chest ffs! The film was enjoyable enough like even the worst Rocky films are, but they shouldn't really have bothered imo.
-
Roeder gets the credit on this one for trying to sort the problem out tbh. He takes none of the responsibility for the situation as it currently stands - that's a situation that's been allowed to continue for a number of years, it seems.

Haha, quality signing Glenn.

Patrokles still ploughing a lone furrow as Roeder's chief apologist I see. Like fighting a bush fire with a watering can tbh. -
Good. I hope you suffer after all your 4-dayers. Edit: that sounded a bit harsh so I'll throw in a . Silence, Renticus! I'm suffering already. I'd sent myself some stuff home to work on over the weekend - obviously I never bothered, and now I've got a meeting to review what I'm supposed to have done at 11:30. Whoops.

There is nothing happy about Mondays. A full 5 day week for me this week too. I don't know how I'll cope.
