I'm willing to bet that is not unusual. I'm not in the clique on here who probably claim to have never spoken to a mackem in their lives.

The question I posed is a very reasonable one to ask given all the press Ba has had over the last six months or so. And the premium placed on consistent goalscorers. I have no problem with Ba staying. I do have a problem with his performances post-africa as I mentioned. I also think that Pardew has his work cut out to get Cisse and Ba to play effectively together and get Ba playing like he was pre-africa. I hope Pardew does it, and we have a pair of strikers who score 50- 60 goals between and have them tied down at the Toon for years to come. In my opinion, Pardew did not do this last season and Ba did not produce in the second half of the season.

Probably half my mates are mackems and have been since the infants. None of them have ever actually expressed a desire to move to sunderland, mind. There's nowt better than beating them, so as long as we are always one step ahead then I'm not bothered where they finish. Higher the better in fact, keeps them dangling.

I think we'll spend some rather than claw it in. In fact, I think we'll be more or less intact and add a few new faces. Debouchy will be about 6 mill, the cheap Aussie kid, another new face in the back four will be about five or so if they are going to be any good. Offloading Simpson for two perhaps, another young forward/midfielder for 3-4 mill takes us up to about 12 mill or so.

Perhaps after watching his second half of the season performances, and him going to africa again, nobody will bother forking out even 7 mill. I don't know if playing on the left did him in or the african cup but he was pretty much rubbish. If pardew sees him in the same position then he might be better off going. If not, pardew needs to have a big rethink on the shape of the team.

I haven't seen anything from ameobi to suggest that he is awesome. He may show promise, but at this time he is no better than many of the kids we've had in the past.
