Can you enlighten me to exactly what the reason is that pards plays him? I'm not seeing it and I don't think I'm alone in this.

Maybe it will help pards get the message.

From the player's point of view, it has to be difficult playing for a team that has basically said its a developmental club for bigger teams with its buy and sell-on policy and no ambition to compete at the top level. I'd assume not many players would arrive and actually buy a house in the area.

It was surely obvious that Liverpool were investing in the potential of Carroll. Handled right, he could be a hell of a player in a couple of years as he has the basics plus some experience. Nobody thought he was the finished article. I'm not surprised he isn't getting as many games because competing against the likes of Bellamy, Kuyt and Suarez is a bit different to Best, Lovenkrands and ameobi. There's no doubt in my mind that he'd have been better off staying at Newcastle in terms of developing as a player at least over the next couple of years.

I'd take him on loan for 50K a week for the rest of the season providing Pards was absolutely convinced he'd be putting out 100% effort. Worth a gamble. Without Ba the outlook is scary unless you are in the Best is a good player camp.

Having seen a lot of very good forwards over the years, its difficult to consider him in any way as good. He lacks pace, scuffs shots and isn't that good in the air. He does score some scrappy goals and they all count though. But a good player? Maybe he's all we can afford, but that doesn't make him good either.

I don't disagree with you entirely, I admit. Clearly many players do get better as they play at a higher level. I'd put obertan and perch in the group that won't because they don't have either the ability or awareness to play at this level.

I don't agree with you. Some players are very clearly out of their depth. Obertan may not have played much at manu but thats because he wasn't good enough to get in, even in cup games, and make his mark. Younger players than him werte preferred. He's shown here that he has not improved at all. Perch is another one who no matter how long he plays will not be good enough. Its only a matter of time before he is moved on. Same goes for obertan.

Apart from the fact they are all shite in the air, the major problem is that none of the patched up back four are comfortable on the ball and can play it out. Colo did so much of it that we just took it for granted. Even Saylor is streets ahead of the rest of them. Williamson is no better than the rest of them.

The difference is that Cabaye has massively contributed to where we are this season and the pluses in his game greatly outweigh any negatives. Obertan has been consistently useless apart from one game when people thought he might have turned the corner. They were wrong. Hiding from team mates should be the last straw and probably would be in any other team. Easy to see why manure were only too happy to get shot of him and delighted to get 3 mill into the bargain.
