  1. Still, at least there's nothing in the papers yet about Joey Barton actually being the Anti-Christ... just a matter of time imo though.
  2. I thought doctors only got busted by governing bodies if what they'd done had something to do with their jobs, ie medical misconduct? I know most companies would penalise an employee for being banged up but that's as much the company's own decision - NUFC have chosen to stick by Barton after he's served his sentence. The FA getting involved now is ridiculous and just shows their usual level of ineptitude. On a side not I don't think Dabo was exactly whiter than white in the whole affair either, I'm not defending Barton's actions but I'm sure it was more two-way than is being made out - one of the quotes made in one of the papers was that both players had been making vicious tackles on each other during the training session, seems to me that Dabo can dish it out but can't take it.
  3. Wanky FA, what exactly do they do that's any good for the game anyways? Turd-burglars, the lot of em.
  4. I agree. People are desperate for overnight solutions though. Despite them not having worked in the past. Whoa there Neddy, Ashley's done an okay job of sorting said finances out, but what's the point if you're unable to compete at the end of the table where you actually make money? We could at least have bulked up the squad a bit even if it wasn't with top star players. I never expected us to get enough top players in to challenge the top four but there's plenty of good squad players out there we could have brought in by now. I've said before that you don't make money without spending it and that part of football is no different to any other business. And for the record I'm pretty sure transfers can't be that bloody difficult to sort, unless you're a penny pinching, tight-arsed fat southern miser. Short sighted Im afraid. You are going to have to consolidate before moving forward. Personally I don't want a season of consolidation, I want a season of going forward. Making savings and investing in players aren't mutually exclusive. Ashley has paid off the debt which has saved us a lot of money and secured the future of the club but the fact is that we need investment in transfer fees to even tread water in the league. Throwing money at the problem hasn't worked before and I'm not against bringing in a number of players for reasonably low fees as Spurs did not so long ago iirc, but I want those players to at least be able to challenge for a first team spot. I applaud the club's efforts to develop the youth team but we do need a few quick fixes as well and if we don't see them arriving before the end of the transfer window then we will struggle next season. Pretty much my feelings too. Ditto

And for the record I'm pretty sure transfers can't be that bloody difficult to sort, unless you're a penny pinching, tight-arsed fat southern miser. Firstly, he's done an amazing job of sorting the finances out, he's paid off the fucking debt man I'd like to have seen some more players in but I don't doubt they've been trying. Why did he employ Wise and Jimenez for a start? Why did he bring KK in and pay off Allardyce? All that's because he's tight I suppose? Erm, if you say so. And I'd say football is very different from most other businesses. And speculate to accumulate is just a cliche which doesn't actually mean anything in itself. And aye, transfers are easy to complete. That's why Villa have signed nobody, Berbatov has gone to Man Utd and Barry is now at Liverpool. That's fine that he's paid off the debt, we weren't exactly doing too badly in the league though before Shepherd brought Souness in and we had some debt then though. It's not that however, I agree it's nice to be debt free - this business of bringing in Wise and Jimenez though has done what? They've not really contributed much apart from giving the press excuses to suggest discord between Keegan and Ashley. Football is a very different business to most but you still need to spend to bring in quality enough to compete where the money is. Your comments on Villa, Berbatov and Barry are daft, Villa isn't in the same position as us and only needed to bring in a decent goalie which they've done. The Barry and Berbatov sagas were both about better teams wanting to buy top players from lesser teams but not paying the going rate or where the buying clubs weren't making the offers in the first place - we've made inadequate offers and screwed up actually getting the players in from start to finish or letting other teams nip in ahead of us when we should have been offering more. What really guts me is that we've now got a manager in Keegan who could win things for us but we don't appear to be backing him at all. Part of me is hoping that this will just be a 'transitional year' (again) but where we'll keep the manager at the end of it and move on from there - we won't be able to consolidate anything though if our team struggles to stay in the premiership due to a weak squad. You said he'd done ok on the financial side of things. I thought he'd done better than that. The comments on Shepherd/the league position are irrelevent because we weren't even discussing that. The examples were to show how difficult concluding tranfers can be. I fail to see how they're daft. As for the backing, we've bid for players haven't we? I think it's just going to take longer than a lot of us would like to sort things out. I'm still hopeful of bringing in some new faces and we certainly need some. Agreed, we are desperately in need of several new faces. I know it's going to take time and you're spot on that it's been down to the previous numpties who ran the show, I just wish we could at least make a go of things rather than appear to do a half-arsed job every transfer window.

  7. And the three signings we've made are all of a good enough level to compete? I'd like to think that Jonas is but the other two? No, can't see it myself. Once again we're in the same old situation as always where we have to hope that by the last day of the transfer season (after the season's started) we'll be lucky and get some saviours in - it won't happen though, you know it and I know it, it'll be another anticlimax like it was in January. We have the manager in now to do the job but not the financial backing. I'll be amazed if we finish in the top 10 next year, I think it's far more likely that we'll be in a relegation battle once again though a slip even further behind turds like the Spuds, etc who up until recently were trying to keep up with us.

You are going to have to consolidate before moving forward. Fuck off, there's no short-sightedness there at all. Without an adequate squad you can't compete to a reasonable standard to improve your situation in the future. We've lost players from an already thin squad and struggled to replace them, at best we'll be in the same position we were last season, except all the teams around us will have strengthened further moving us further down the league.

  10. I wonder why they're not doing a Webster anyways? I mean the player doesn't lose anything as an unofficial payment could be made by Newcastle to the player once he's signed for us. I reckon the whole things waas just made up to make us think we were signing someonoe half decent, just something to keep the fans quiet. I'm concerned that we've lost player and brought in a sum total of four new ones, and only one of those is going to be worth having in the first team. *Grumble, grumble*
  11. It's true, it's a fine line I'm treading - think jaythesouthernmag's gone too
  12. Old bored or new bored? Both I suppose, mainly new though
  13. ... and we're deluded?!
  14. Keegan's quoted as being confident of another two signings before the end of the transfer window, funny how every time someone speaks to him the number of definate incoming players goes down... I think it's a conspiracy, Mike Ashley really is a Spuds fan and he's been getting us to find players for them - Woody, Modric, Arshavin, Coloccini - I'm not lovin the fat turd.
  15. Torres ... not being a cock ...
  16. a strange move for bentley. he said he wanted to play in the champions league but he isn't going to get that at spurs - uefa cup/intertot football at best tbh. more of a sideways step than a move forward - i guess he just wanted to move back to london, which is understandable - blackburn is a right shithole. He said his eventual aim was to play in the champions league. No reason why he can't do that at Spurs. Would you want to work for Paul Ince? do me a favour. when was the last time spurs played in the champions league? oh yeah, that's right - never. no one is going to break into the top 4 in the near future, not least spurs. you've got about as much chance as we do - which is exactly 0.00000001%. Stranger things have happened, Im not saying it will happen this year but if we keep building the team and with a coach like Juande, you never know. Bentley seems to think so anyway. My man tells me it is happening today.
  17. A good post mate, I've also noticed this - I blame the media for the majority of it, stirring up crap where there isn't any.
  18. I was going to say it'd be fairer commenting on the lad's ability scoring goals if he was actually played up front but looking at his past record playing for Leeds...
  19. So we have to let yet another player leave before we bring in someone new? I thought we were supposed to be strengthening our squad?!
  20. I'd be happy to have 'squad' players through the door, let alone star players. Yes, I can see some of the longer term benefits that we've implemented but football isn't like a normal business, you need results on the pitch otherwise your future ends up in the non-profitable leagues outside the Prem. I'm all for making changes to the financial structure but we should have steady things with our game first and made sure we were going to be able to compete for a top eight spot. We definitely need a few bodies in, don't get me wrong. I wonder why we aren't raiding the lesser teams for their better players, I mean there must be some - how much different from Championship Manager can it be

  22. I don't give a shite tbh, let the other nations have their own rule, let's see how long they keep up the good times if the haven't got the English tax-player subbing them.
