Agreed, I'll be really disappointed if we don't win the league - promotion is all well and good but it's kind of embarrassing if we're not going up as better than the rest of the smaller teams in the Championship.

To be expected though really, it'd be foolhardy to think the same team that were capable of winning the Championship would be able to perform to a similar level in the Premiership. Billy Davies was spot on when he said we'd need to invest a good £60m imo.

Fair play Acca, I think after the season we'd had before it was only natural for people to be pesimistic, certainly it wasn't taken in to account how totally shit the opposition's been in the Championship. I think we've been promoted not through anything Mike Ashley has or hasn't done but more because of the very poor standard of the league making it easy for us, even with a depleted squad (I say depleted in that it won't stand a chance in the Prem and we were already threadbare last time we were up). I want to celebrate us winning promotion, hopefully winning the league but my feeling will always be we should never have been here in the first place. I'm happy enough to grab the moment even though it feels 'small time', let's just hope we can finish the season in style.

For me if we're looking at one of them having to go then we need a striker more than a defender right now and I suspect Taylor's value to potential suitors is going to be much higher than Carroll's. If there's a dressing room 'clique' (which I doubt there is) then I'd rather keep it in place for the good of the club than risk dividing the squad again.
