It is no surprise for Newcastle fans when assessing the defence to say a decent performance was one that was without any of the typical laughable mistakes the defence tends to make. Fact has it, they shouldn't be making them anyway, and we should really look at how well they defended...

There's been a definite improvement on his finishing this season. He seems relaxed and confident - think it was last season against Middlesbrough where he hit over from about a yard out in the last minute.

Isn't it still both Harbarjhan and Kumble? I can just imagine Udal bowling to Sehwag on day one of a test match.

Jenas has scored 5 goals for Spurs - despite that I do not think he has played that consistently and gets lost in games. N'Zogbia has scored 5 goals this season and I think more assists. He has been generally consistent, and his weaker performances seem to have taken place after his dad died. The fact he had the courage to play on is extremely impressive.

Alan Shearer flicks a header on for Nolberto Solano and when his shot is saved by Thomas Sorensen, youngster Charles N'Zogbia is on hand to net his second goal in as many games. Newcastle have led twice now, and Graeme Souness must be wondering where this fighting spirit was during his spell in charge.

Actually, looking at those figures, it does appear that we bought a squad player, but 33 of his substitute appearances were in his first season at Depo. 92691[/snapback] Not as bad as we think, though still wouldn't say he's very prolific as a striker despite the substitute appearances, although he would have played on left-wing a bit too I'm sure. He has seemed much more comfortable as a striker, though I think the Spain international side seem to think of him as more of a winger.

Been told quite a lot that he is actually pretty slow, but I've seen videos of him, and he certainly doesn't look slow. He easily beat a defender for pace then chipped the goalie rather skillfully if I remember, and has a great strike. Apparently though, his scoring record isn't too impressive.
