In my opinion he is no "utility man" - his best position is easily behind the strikers, where he can link up well with Nobby and run up the byline. He hasn't got a bad scoring record for the past 13 or so months as well.

First time I think it was impressive, and was pleased he show authority there. In some ways Shearer's injury helped, because it gave him a chance at the role he'll probably take next season.

He's done plenty more backtracking today than I saw Robert do in 4 years. Plus he'd make a better left-back than Baba too, but I'm happy seeing him in his current role.

Not a big enough club tbh. Sir Alex hasn't helped his career by playing him as a centre-mid. He won't make a quality, international midfielder, and he won't revert back to being a striker either, now.

I was just mentioning he had shots on goal at least... I wasn't impressed, but he certainly needs somebody (such as Alan Shearer obviously), to be alongside, as he did not link up well with Dyer. Frustrating player really - Roeder did say though if Crouch can force himself into the England squad, Shola has the potential too. We'll leave off that subject for now.

Pundits tend to say Ameobi "with all his talent..." etc, but they're probably forgetting he's 24, not 18, so is no hot prospect for the future, and normally they'd only say that if they knew he had potential.
