  1. The thug was nowhere near him, he was restrained a good 20 yards from Bellamy who promptly ran over and gave him a slap.
  2. As with a lot of rules the laws are a little hazy on this, but there is no specific mention of adding on the time it takes for players to retreat to the centre circle in the laws of the game. Although I imagine that he can get away with it under 'any other cause'. Allowance is made in either period for all time lost through: • substitutions • assessment of injury to players • removal of injured players from the field of play for treatment • wasting time • any other cause The allowance for time lost is at the discretion of the referee.
  3. IIRC Cloughy cuffed a number of Forest fans (who almost certainly dined out on it for years) none of whom were restrained by four stewards at the time. He also didn't run 30 yards for the privelege of a free slap. It's grade A knobbery from Bellamy.
  4. Bring in Zurab gives us the flexibility to play Steven Taylor at right back as well.
  5. That's really surprised me, I thought Boro were better than that.
  6. A home game against what, on paper at least, looks like an easy game is exactly what we need. Ranger did nothing to deserve to be dropped on Weds and I would like to see him start.
  7. Isn't Flo a bit contemporary for you? I agree like, her album is outstanding. IMO best female lead band since Blondie. ? I've got contemporary-ness coming out the yingyang my friend. I'm street and that's no lie, bro To be honest (and I'm aware how wanky it makes me sound) I'm friends with Flo's brother so I've met her a couple of times and she's a really genuine sweet girl, who's as crazy as a pillowcase of rabid mongeese* * Mongoose, Mongooses, Mongeese? I'm not sure... You're right it does sound wanky. However she's on Jules Holland tonight and the more I see the band the more impressed I am.
  8. I've always wondered why, as an Island , we've not developed this more? Surely once the initial cost is paid, it's an abundant source ? There are literally hundreds of different designs for wave and tidal devices - the industry still hasn't settled on one. I think there is actually only one commercial size wave farm in the world, compare with over 250 wind farms in the UK alone and it gives you an idea of how far away technologically and commercially it is. The ROC 'subsidy' mentioned above will soon be doubled for wave and tidal, which should make it more attractive to developers.
  9. There's just no need though, vast amounts of the offshore sea around the UK is between 5 and 25m deep, there's no great technical problem or cost building in that depth. Yes they will be more expensive than onshore ones, but the cost can easily be recouped by the sheer scale of the possible offshore developments (although 1000's won't help if there is no wind ). Plus of course the reason so many onshore wind turbines are being built is not because they are great or we need them, but rather that the government grants are so massive for building them at the moment a company can make more profit building a turbine than it can from running it for 10+ year. Madness. People who want to stick a B+Q turbine in their back garden get grants. But wind farm developers do not get grants for building large scale turbines. There is a scheme called the Renewable Obligation which is essentially a carrot and stick for utilities to produce more power from renewable technology. Providers of renewable energy are given Renewable Energy Certificates for every unit of electricity they produce. They can either trade or use these to meet set targets, those not meeting the target are fined. But no or low generation and no carrot. The extra cost associated with this is paid for by the consumer not government.

  11. It's on Five Live Sports xtra in the UK..
  12. He looks absolutely knackered, I imagine a trip from Memphis to Newcastle Upon Tyne was no cake walk in 1967. According to wiki, this is one of 50 honorary degrees he picked up...
  13. I'm a PR consultant now, but I used to work for a renewable energy firm. And I've not heard about either of those to things, sounds like the work of Dr Evil to me!
  14. I work in the industry.. You're absolutely right about uranium stocks, they are ultimately a limited fuel, though 20 years is out of sink with most thinking. Suggest that our energy future will be a combination of all of the above, apart from PV farms here. Costs will fall in wave and tidal energy and ultimately bills will get much higher. A change in attitude regarding energy efficiency is also much needed and much overdue. But wind will more than likely lead the way in the UK. Suggest large scale near shore wind farms are a given. We will almost certainly litter the country with onshore turbines and on a good windy day that should be enough for everyone. On a non-windy day (which can be mitigated against to an extent by profileration) there will be a need for other fuel sources. There is a lot of talk about deep offshore turbines being potentially used as hydrogen producing stations and the worlds first floating 100m turbine was launched last week, bringing that a step closer. We will ultimately still rely on fossil fuels until the silver bullet is found, for my money the person who invents a huge energy storage device will be richer beyond his wildest dreams..
  15. The answer to your population reduction scheme, then. Carnage in all countries where the green cross code is largely ignored.
  16. Where are you going to build them? And what will you tell the nimbys? You generally find that those living near to Nuclear power stations are favourable. They are the best paying jobs in invariably rural areas.
  17. Yes it was. http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2009/best-female-video/
  18. Thick as well. Beyonce's video wasn't even on the shortlist in that category.
  19. Probably not that fugly when not prentending to be Arnie movies.
  20. . Well if he can't pass a medical I reckon we've done the right thing.. In fairness Coloccini and Saylor don't miss a lot of games but it'd be just our luck if that changed. Crucial we get Simpson's loan extended IMO.
  21. Aside from the goal, which was a cracking header, I thought Coloccini had a good game. Both he and Taylor are getting very good cover from Alan Smith and absolutely nothing is getting past Jose and Simpson at the moment.
  22. I don't think that Smith has ever had a full pre-season or a proper run of games in a set position since he joined the club. Under Big Sam he played right wing for a while, I do remember him being gash when he played central midfield, but I get the impression that he's playing deeper now. Looks a good player and I would certainly not take the captaincy off him, though I reckon that looks likely as Butt's certain to play while he's suspended.
  23. Downloaded the Euros Childs album for free. Not listened to much but looks good and I quite like GZM. Just sign up for the newsletter... http://www.euroschilds.com/
  24. According to The Times he did this with over 7,500 people, it was just that they showed the one woman where it came off. Would there be a spate of people claiming Derrens mindbogglery never worked on me..
