  1. I thought with maybe a couple of exceptions we out muscled Reading especially Enrique - which will have surprised a lot of people - and i thought the front two put the fear of god into their defence everytime the ball went forward. For all Shola is a clumsy cunt he looks very intimidating when he is up for it and Carroll enjoys the hard side of the game and you could see the reading defenders shitting themselves
  2. Would have been great to have Taylor and Campbell together - still maintain if Roeder hadn't been such a fuckwit we would have won the uefa that year if he had signed Campbell when he wanted to come. I don't think deteriating pace should be too much of an issue in this league either
  3. He seemed to trip over nowt and then Carroll maintained the comedic element with that airshot - jonas was decent yesterday but still tends to disappear second half unlike Enrique who was still bombing forward in the 90th minute - Taylor is away by the look of it and i think thats a big shame - defensive frailities aside he is a very talismanic figure and drives the team forward. Even Colo got better second half after a being weak as water in the first half
  4. Just got back - great result and nice to see the confidence flowing through the lads when we got to 3-0. Even Ryan Taylor started to look like a footballer after that awesome cross. Hope they can carry it forward
  5. To say Krul is better than Harper after 2 or 3 good performances if unfiar. I would agree that Krul should keep his place and be given a chance to prove that he is the better keeper (which he may well be) but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Agreed, based on one performance we dont know if Krul has it in him to be great, we do know though that hes earned another chance to prove it. By dropping him straight back to the bench we're basically saying "get yourself away lad, theres Premiership teams that want to give you first team football". Im not even sure if he'd get a regular PL game. If Arsenal sign him he isn't going to be number 1. I cant actually believe some are saying he is going to be better than Given and is better than Harper now after 1.5 games in 3 years. Worthy of a chance? Yes. Weren't some people on here claiming Harper should be played over Given this time last year?!? Unbelieveable tbh. I wouldn't go chucking him in at the deep end like - play him in the league cup or something like that - slowly slowly catchy monkey
  6. Apparently not playing tomorrow so I think we can safely assume............
  7. I would imagine the club and its staus would be to his liking but why should he risk an already tainted reputation by not having what he wants in place - Ashley needs to realise he can't bully people who aren't yet in his employ because he hasn't worked for - what? - four years. It's ridiculous to think he'd be setting conditions, he'd bite off Ashley's hand if he got a serious offer imo. I don't buy this myself. Aye but combine his massive ego and the fact he isn't on the bones of his arse and i would imagine he would be reticent to take on anything regardless

  9. .....and who are we going to play in defense pray tell? Fuckin exactly - its mint seeing these numbers for players but not so good when we are getting raped on a saturday afternoon by Doncaster and Blackpool et al
  10. This Barry Moat dude has no credibility with me at all - alarm bells started ringing as soon as it came to light that he was chums with Ashley-its the easiest thing in the world to hide behind this NDA and release a few rumours about a local enterepreneur using the Shearer ticket as a sedative to the fans - complete shite - now that they are ending the whole charade Ashley may find - once again - he has fucked himself by being a clever cunt. His total lack of awareness is staggering
  11. Pre- match songs: I predict a riot - Kaiser Chiefs Somebody got murdered - The Clash Why don't you kill yourself - The only ones
  12. I thought he couldn't work till November - either the Express are lying or Kinnear is this is not going to be a good friday is it Goes with every Sat,Sun,Mon,Tue,Wed and Thurs in recent memory
  13. 9.00am Monday apparently. Can't wait
  14. O Leary has a good track record but is a twat - Curbishley is a good steady choice - Strachan is an odious twat who would do well - Hoddle is mental - I would lump for O'Leary because i just think he could spark something big to happen , however, as i have always maintained this whole sale thing was a ruse and Kinnear will be back soon enough
  15. I thought he couldn't work till November - either the Express are lying or Kinnear is
  16. Never been anywhere near the player he was at Blackburn or Chelsea for us like - I don't think he would improve you lot at all
  17. Henderson gave Huth and Wheater a right going over - if he had anybody alongside him
  18. He isn't performing and is visibly unhappy so I suppose we should get the best valuewe can for him-at the same time there has to be some decent additions to the squad - not loans but long term, well thought out additions. So expect three tottenham juniors on loan and a ryan taylor lookkee likee
  19. Between them the worst two central defenders I've seen wear our shirt. And that's saying something... As for comparing him to Puyol.... We could have played 3 in the middle of defence Collo, boum and Marcalino Its not just him though is it - Enrique was very average and 3 or 4 clearances were pathetic and nearly resulted in goal chances - Ryan Taylor was never in position and looked one paced and weak in the tackle - you have to feel for steven Taylor as he must of been having kittens every time they crossed the halfway line - he stood up well but I fear he can not do it on his own when the long ball merchants arrive - Collocinni would be manna from heaven for the likes of Sheff Utd
  20. I noticed that on the replay - he just stands watching outside the six yard box andmakes no attempt to get stuck in - what a waste of space
  21. Exactly what I was thinking. Shearer won't get the job under Ashley because of the demands he'll make. I think the lack of connection with the club more than a yes man - shearer and keegan care too much and won't accept compromise, somebody who has no affinity with the area or club is more likely to tow the party line especially if they are chums with the director
  22. I think its a better choice than Kinnear but its not so much the choice of manager as much as the temporary make do and mend thought process behind his decisions. If he turned round and said he wasn't selling up and was backing the guy to take us back up then fair enough, however, previous form would lead me to the conclusion he was a fat lying twat.
  23. If you're a betting man like me what price a top six finish?
  24. Whilst our worst were the two clowns from Argentina. Collocini takes the highlights (as does any dodgy NUFC centreback) but my patience ran out with Guiterrez a while back, he started brightly but is now known by me as 'blind alley' Jonas. He runs into defenders and tries to do the impossible and is also starting to embarrass us with his diving which is becoming frequent, his passing is very, very poor and his reluctance to take a man on when in a good postion and have a shot has me pulling my hair out, he has a phobia about shooting, if I was a team mate he'd get the hair dryer treatment from me, never mind the manager, (if we had one). How he never came off was baffling, our goal came about when Shola ignored the overlapping Jonas which would have been a decent pass to be fair, but he would have wasted it, instead he passed to Nolan who played in to Duff who took it very well, more of that kind of play please, lads. Jonas is seriously disrupting any flowing play we might produce, he's a liability. Spot on that like - It was a toss up between him and Ryan Taylor as to who wasted the ball the most - I would give Lua Lua a go in the right wing and put duff onto the left and get a right back asap. I would even give Geremi a go, I know he can't run but his positioning is so much better than Taylors I don't think he would get exposed as often.
  25. I would agree with most of that especially the need for a nippy striker like ratboy but i do think Carrol has enough about him to be a player in this league, i thought they were petrified of him yesterday and he looked different class to Ameobi in everything he did. From the look of things if we add 2-3 players in the right areas and lose no-one else we could do this but fully expect the owner to fuck up again
