    Cath

Happy Birthday, hope you have a good one!
  2. even though you are probably one of the only people shorter than him I was expecting this post as soon as i saw what i'd typed, but i'm disappointed, i expected it to be from Gemmill!!!
  3. I don't think we'd have bought Martins if we still had Bellamy... Quite possibly, but of course with No Souness we wouldn't have possed away millions on shite and could have bought who we want...this could go on for a while You're right there... It wasn't my intention though tbh...it just struck me that since Martins has got more confident, I've cared less and less about Bellamy. The golf club thing followed by his goal in Barcelona is typical of him, I was just thinking that now we have an "equally good" striker without all the baggage. I'd expect more goals from Martins than Bellamy tbh and that is the most important thing in football, despite the fact that along with Leazes i'm one of Bellamy's biggest fans! You do need other things up front, but a striker who can guarentee plenty of goals is always worth their place!

  5. Long term i'm hoping Martins continues his progress and ends up being the better of the two players, because he's the one here and so that would be best for NUFC. Certianly he is showing the potential to be a top class striker. In his first season in the prem as a young (or 28 year old!) lad he is playing in an average team who often don't make the best use of him, yet he is impressing and banging in the goals. He also scores a variety of goals, with both feet and head, some placed, some blasted and he is matching up to the physical side of the prem. Currently Bellamy has a few years having proved himself in the prem which Martins doesn't yet have. But i really like the look of Martins and think he will be the better of the two to have and i hope i'm right. But as Dan said, but for Shepherd employing Souness we could have had them both, and Owen!
  6. I should have sued them! Me and the other bloke who went arse over tit before i did!
  7. I'm a boring bastard... You said it See you soon though hopefully. Not sure if I'll be down again this season tbh.. I am renewing next season though so will be down for every match I will also be down once again for the "Annual Summer Piss Up/5 a side though Yes, we need another 5-a-side match! And hopefully we can have a rematch of the "locals" versus the "exiles" or whatever it was called last time! I'll be there for the Smog game!
  8. Africa on the PA when we run out. Or 'Rosanna' Or 'Hold the line' and i think that's it...
  9. I think the UEFA cup is most definitely winnable, but for th curse at this club that means we'll never win a trophy ever!!! But seriously it is the trophy we have the best shout at winning, the league even at the start of the season is a no go, the FA cup towards the end will feature the big teams playing near or at full strength and we have never done well in the league cup.
  10. Also i think they probably deliver less high balls into the box, both long and as crosses and we struggle with that alot. And alot of teams in europe seem to have that style of being pretty decent enough at football technically without offering that much of a direct threat.
  11. How come your mark is out of 10 and not 12? As I am at work, is this silicon tits I take it? Think lower than that!
  12. But the media and experts continually said we were shite defensivle under KK so that must have been true, i mean they never get anything worng do they! You can't go letting facts, like the amount of goals being conceded be taken into consideration when universally decalring KK's team as crap at defending! Strangely though in the UEFA cup we are coneding hardly any goals, especially away from home, and long may it continue! People may say some of the opposition has been crap, but so are plenty of teams in the prem and domestic cups and we've let in plenty there! There's something about the UEFA that suits our team and we manage some of our better football as well as being tighter at the back.
  13. And it was all going so well. It'll be fine, surely when they're both fit Roeder wouldn't contemplate such lunacy as dropping Nobby to accomodate Carr...
  14. I thought it was enough of a shove to give the foul, he does put two hands on him before he heads the ball, just manu's luck that they get it when i think alot of the time that would not be given, even if it should be. For the manu goal, only the ref and the players around the ball will know exactly what was said/asked and if permission to take it was given and if it was then they can't really complain. But even if both decisions were wrong they have to be punished for the near walkout and they have to be hammered for the actions of their fans and the police. But with an English club being involved (and by invoved i mean doing fuck all wrong) i'm sure they'll let the police of scott free.
  15. The funny thing is, that's how he's NOT like. He's always playing a role, it's just that spackers can't realise it, and take it at face value. It's when he's talking to a chat show host, and they go, 'so you have a bafta' and he goes 'two, just to clear that up' THATS A JOKE, THATS WHAT HE DOES. FFS He's always done it, right from when he was on the 11 o'clock show and played an obnoxious character but used his real name instead of creating a character name. Its always a joke, but because he delivers it in an understated realisitic way some people seem incapable of seperating what he's really like from his joking about. In real life you hear/read very little about him as he is pretty quiet and down to earth, keeps to himself and doesn't spend all his time at celeb functions, events and going to "the opening of an envelope", he goes to awards ceremonies and the like but, people know very little about his private life because he doesn't broadcast it everywhere. One of the reasons he gets all these people to work with/for him (on top of how good he and Merchant are) is that people like him (the real him, not the character some people fall for). Pretty much everything he's done has been great and a success from The Office, Extras, his radio show and podcasts, his 2 (now 3) stand up tours and his debut on the 11 o'clock show, only his chat show didn't work as well as the rest. But in this country if you dare to be continually successful and worse a success over in the USA then people here will hate you, its a characteristic of this country, build people up, then think they're above themselves and knock them down!
  16. sorry, I thought it was funny Like when you had a curry saturday night and woke up sunday morning I imagine that'll last as long as the old lady pic did! I didn't see the old lady one but has it been posted before, i'm sure i remember something like that appearing in the past?
  17. you aren't aware that a previous Newcastle chairman decided to sell Gazza, Beardsley and Waddle are you Sadly i'm aware of that, but employing Souness is a worse decision than those 3 combined! I know YOU are aware of it mate ..... I take your point, but don't think even the appointment of the Scottish fuckpig damaged the club as much as selling those 3 though, it didn't take us years to get back into the top league after sacking the Scottish fuckpig...however also I realise there are people who think we have always been in the top 2 or 3 teams though and Fat Fred is damned to eternal damnation for not carrying on those trophy laden decades we had previously ...... The manager can have so much more influence than players and affect so many aspects of the club that i think it makes that decision the more crucial and thus far worse decision. As an example what would be worse, we sell say Owen, Martins and Given (over a period of time, they didn't all go at once with the other 3 mentioned) for a hell of alot of money or we re-employ Souness! And remember Souness would likely fall out with and kick out one of the 3 best players himself anyway, on top of destroying the club from top to bottom of course!

  19. The manu fans will have to spend the next decade singing songs about him then for daring to turn them down like they did with Shearer! I couldn't believe when i went to the semi at Cardiff and they were still signing about him, and this was in the streets after the match! He came here and won fuck all whilst they won loads and yet the sad little pricks still can't accept any player daring to choose to play for anyone else other than them!
  20. We'd have unquestionably been better off. But the best option was always to move Bobby on at the end of the season previous (like Liverpool did with Houllier) and use the time to bring in a top class coach from who was available, giving them the time and resources to set their team up and get some time with them to start the season following. But of course Fat Fred prefers to keep Bobby on toolong, then having done that dumps him in the shit by telling everyone he has 1 year left, then sacks him 4 games in and then makes the single biggest fuck up any chairman has managed and employs Souness...and the rest is history! i would have let him see out his contract meself. would have been tough on the auld boy to sack him after finishing 5th. I agree it would have been very tough/harsh, but the sort of decision the top 4 clubs would make without batting an eyelid. Liverpool moved Houllier on when it was his time to go even after the trophies he'd won them.
  21. Funny as all this is, knowing the Aussies i would put money on them now to go and win the world cup!

    Lent.

If i did that i would starve! Needless to say i'll be giving up nothing whatsoever, but like manc mag will in a way be giving up pancakes as i don't really ever have them at any other time than today!
  23. I have for some reason! Now we know your best film, what's your worst!
