Official Match Thread: Arsenal Vs Newcastle United
Papa Lazaru replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
Roeder in not playing a crippled Ameobi shocker!!! He must have literally been unable to put one foot in front of another for him not to get a game mind! -
IMHO - The Day Today was their very best. Awesome even now 12 years on. See how well The Mary Whitehouse Experience has aged, saw a couple of episodes of that and found it terrible now. It killed me at the time! Probably alot of Chris Morris in that whereas he had no part in writing Partridge. I'm a fan of the Day Today as well myself but Partridge is my favourite of anything that group of writers has done together or apart.
-
They're probably a team who just work at their very best together, like Coogan/Iannucci/Baynam who together wrote the genius of I'm Alan Partridge but seperately or with other people have never quite matched it.

I didn't want to disappoint!

We played 5-3-2 which is a workable formation if you have a sweeper type player (Dumas) and want to be very defensive which on the day we were. Had we actually played 3-5-2 we would have been an abject mess like we were every time we tried that formation with players who couln't and hadn't played it to any level.

A watch is all i ever wear and that's digital. Never had any inclination towards jewelry, piercings, tatoos or any other adornments, but nowt wrong with other people who do!

Agree, He's basically played with a cripling injury and given it everythign he has for no credit or thanks, when the likes of Shearer and Owen would have quite rightly told the club to stop pissing about and either get the op sorted or stop playing them when they blatantly aren't fit enough. We all know Shola shouldn't be a first choice strker if we want to challenge the best teams but as Alex says a fit Shola would improve our current situation and under Roeder he has a strike rate of about 1 in 2.

I remember reading/hearing that, think it was from an interview with Dyer and/or Jenas.
-
Yeah, i've alwasy enjoyed that when i've caught it on BBC7, like you say the regulars they have on it are always good value so its worth a listen.

as has already been said, you slip into a couple of black socks and it's only a little bit later that one sock isn't black, but really dark blue. what you need is some Catholic priest Socks... only truly black socks in the world. Don't get your black socks from a non-priest store, they'll feck you over every time!

Both he and Martins have really suffered not having an experienced striker alongisde them leading the line due to injuries, retirments and bad use of the transfer window. They have further suffered by playing a team who create next to nothing, offer very little going forward and who collective can't cross a ball or use set pieces anymore!

He's better than what we have not got He's not, he's an average youngster who's overrated because he's from Man Utd, he missed a sitter against Charlton and was a passenger against Sheffield Utd, on top of that he runs out of steam after 45 minutes. Looks like he has the potential to be a good player to me. His first touch is excellent. And as for running out of steam, how many senior first team games has the kid played in? He's shown everything a striker could need. Pace, movement, awareness, touch, vision and on the potential to be a very good finisher, he's also highly rated at Manu by all concerned, but what do manu know about talented young players!!! However a few games in our current situation can have a negative effect on any player, particularly strikers! Obviously he's not the finished article yet, or why else would Fergie let us have him instead of playign him at manu!

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps
Papa Lazaru replied to Hatful Of Hollow's topic in General Chat
They should put that on the cover of the dvd's as a reccomendation. Plus it would draw attention away from things like the script! -
Yeah, it sounds a bit too much like a "plan" for my liking! And would require Fat Fred to gve a fuck about the fans who pay to get in! Also SLP is right about the adverts, its the typical Fat Fred style geordie-nation bollocks that makes us look like right pricks to the rest of football!

I'd consider the KKK over what we have now!!!

How can something be Harsh and Fair? Simon Cowell? ...Like it or not, as a semi outsider I maybe have an advantage at knowing what people think of outside "the goldfish bowl" My take on it: 1: Far too much gets made here of "London Bias".... anyone who's lived in London would know it's not that London has any vendetta against anywhere, it's just insular. My Northumbrian neighbour thinks all Londoners spend their day thinking about how they can get one over the "country folk"...In truth they don't give a toss, they're worried about crime, terrorism and parking... 2: As a city, Newcastle has a schitzophrenic view of itself...it wants to laugh at itself but it doesn't like it when people don't take it seriously. 3: There is an enormous pride in the club and the area...unfortunately, I believe this stems from a lack of opportunity for many people who associate with the club as a break from their own problems. I'm not having a pop, but there is a comedic element which I think holds the club back. The pie boy is playing to the wrong fans. The fact that an internationally respected "local lad" (SBR) is out in the cold says a lot about where we have gone wrong as a club. The London bias thing isn't particular to Newcastle its something thought by most cities (particularly Northern) outside of London and isn't unique to football, its also correct! Also its not aimed at Londoners themselves as much as the media, people in power and suchlike who think London is the centre of the known universe and that all other cities should bow down before it! I agree in part with part 2. though its applicable to most places/people that they don't like too much stick being aimed at them, but plenty of geordies do laugh at themselves. And i have no doubt that people outside of the area think alot of the "hilarious article" that started this thread is true based on what little they see.hear in the media about Newcastle.

Owen would however have bailed Roeder out and hid some of the poor management just as he did for Souness. No matter the team, Owen will score goals and win you matches, without him we would have seen Souness out the door long before he finally fucked off. As to where exactly we would be, its impossible to say, but the prem is such utter shite these days that if Owen had played and scored as he has so far in his brief toon career, we'd have been a hell of alot higher up than we are now! We'd still ultimately be going nowhere as we'd have Fat Fred, Roeder and the prems shittest coaching staff but he'd have made a massive difference to league position.
-
It defies belief really! I would have problems with our club if they couldn't get some random fat bloke off the streets fit in this length of time. If they can't get a current footballer fit then i despair!

What are "gay" fights like? Manly or girly? Can't say I've ever seen one on a night out, but we'd probably just hire rent boys to do the work for us. I don't know, i'd expect gay men to be pretty handy with their fists!

Considering what things are like now how about: Wish you were here - Pink Floyd!!!

Dire Straits - Money for nothing (in terms of trophies anyway!) That's Entertainment - The Jam

How predictable. Yeah, predictably good. LM blatantly the most predictable btw. Even when you post predicting what his response will be, he still turns up and posts exactly what you've predicted. I'd say he's probably only the 5th most predictable poster, would have been higher but he didn't plan for it!
