  2. thread started well and then went all which had the unimaginable effect of getting everyone on the side of the Fish and then a flounce Nail on the head line in bold. Based on this post I've told the others that I don't think I can mod / admin this place any more. Whether that is a permanent or a temporary thing remains to be seen but tbh I need some time away from here anyway. Adios. Maginifique
  3. I don't want to come over all generational, but the club has never been the same since they took the roof off the Leazes. I followed the time honoured tradition of graduating to the Leazes when I stopped going with my Dad and started going with my mates. The noise that was generated under that roof is still the greatest thing I have ever heard. I am sitting hear lost in the memory to be honest. Even under Keegan, even when we winning every week, the noise was nothing like that of the Leazes, and there were so many songs. Some call us Newcastle United Some call us "The cream of the land Aye aye aye someone has nicked my sombrero Bertie Mee said to Joe Harvey I feel sorry for the young uns - they know not what they missed
  4. Hitler built a canny road or two, Mussolini got the trains running and the Krays loved their Mum. None of these things stop Ashley being a cunt
  5. Ta I'm sure he will. I am trying not to think about what he will be getting up to Couldn't persuade either to head for Newcastle unfortunately
  6. Thanks man - the boy is going to Manchester so that has lowered my stress levels considerably. What are you studying there, and do you have any knowledge of Bowden Court - thats where the young fellow is heading Oh and 1.5k!! mine are on £3225 each

  8. So both my little darlings are heading off to University in a couple of weeks. Obviously the student finance people appear to be completely useless and there seems to be no chance we will have any money by the time they start. I can just about cope with paying their accomodation/food whatever but whats the story with the fees. Are universities happy to wait for the student finance to get sorted or do I have to start thinking about grovelling to the bank manager. I had assumed that they would be flexible, but I havent been able to find any advice on what to do on looking at the University/ student finance websites
  9. All those players who so have surprised us with their commitment, have actually been playing for a move and will now revert to type. Expect a return to the gutless inept performances we were so used to last season
  10. I want to see us win a cup before I die. Cup every time
  11. Speaking as a Supermac loving member of the older generation I appreciate this post.
  12. Forced a great save from the keeper, and put a 25 yarder inches wide. Unlucky not to get 5 tbh.
  13. What Have I Done to Deserve This? pet shop boys
  14. Seems honest enough answer to me. He would prefer to stay and get promoted, but if the club decided to sell him he might not have much option. Came across well in the interview I thought
  15. "SO lets finish by asking the audience who thinks Newcastle will get promoted" .. .. . silence lone voice yes
  16. I cant be arsed looking, but hasnt the wage bill increased by ~20 million a year under Ashley. It seems to be accepted wisdom that FFS was a useless businessman, and clueless with money. It seems to me that he understood that you had to grow turnover and generate income, and to my untrained eye actually seemed to this pretty succesfully. Plainly he got stuff badly wrong(Souness) and gambled unsucessfully(Owen, Luque) which had left us in a position that was far from ideal, but I have yet to be convinced we were seconds from administration. I would rather have his brand of failure than Ashleys brand of success for sure. And to be honest I think we would have fared better with administration, 10 point deduction and FS in charge than Ashleys moronic performance Firstly, I wasn't say saying one was better than the other; although FS looks better when viewed through MA tainted glasses. I don't know about the wage bill either. There's no doubting he's signed some players on big money, and we have probably gotten rid of a few but it's a resonable assumption that it's higher now than when he took over. All I was comparing are the facts we know about. I dont think we were seconds away from administration either; but if the reported figures are true (weren't they back up by the published accounts) we were on a slippery slope. When you compare our state immediately before MA took over to now, it seems we are more in debt than ever and we've been relegated. This means our current financial commitments are such that we cannot sustain ourselves and yet we still have some of the same problems we had when he took over 2 yrs ago, which were the same problems we'd had for the 3yrs prior to that. I was trying to work out just how we are financially better off under MA as has been proffered by others. Going off the hard facts, was are not. I was agreeing - the only possible improvement in the financial position under Ashley is he claims to have paid off the debt Whether that turns out to be true, and if true has actually been beneficial is yet to be seen.
