  1. it's not just Sky, it's the Beeb too, there's a massive wank-a-thon in the meeja for anything Liverpool. watch their game, and whomever is reporting for the Beeb or Sky put a red scarf round their neck, and just fawn after the scousers. it's pathetic.
  2. I'm not getting a good feeling about this game. I'd say a one goal game... don't know which way it's going though.
  3. this just reminds me how good Football Italia was....
  4. You're right of course, when I said "If you don't concede you don't score" I obviously meant I thought that we would be able to shut out any team in the world, whenever we play them. it's a mindset, not an absolute. I meant that if we stop conceding shitty stupid goals we'd have got many more points this season, is it just coincedence that typically the teams with one of the best defensive records win the league? oh and the big teams don't have that mentality? How did Chelsea win their title? was it Arsenal-style extravagant flair football? or was it a 4-1-4-1? Which in my mind is a prettyy defensive formation. Arsenal, Chelsea Liverpool all won their games with a strong back four, who gave their flair players the freedom to create and needle through the opposition. The Big teams deliberately sort out their defense just so that they can have the ball more, they can giive luxury players more of it and they can afford to fit luxury players into their team. the defensive 5 players of Chelsea mean that they can have Robben, Kalou, Cole, SWP, or whomever in their team. We'd have to be a hell of a lot better up front to permit the likes of Car, Babayaro, Ramage et al to retain their place. Newcastle have to build from the back. It's ether spend big and maybe we find a striker that produces the goods, or spend less AND have a better chance of the defender improving our lot. simple choice in my eyes. 3 of the last 4 big money signings have been strikers, one is long term injured, one is never going to play for the club and the other is just coming good after struggling with niggly injuries most season. We've been playing a tackle happy poor mans Griffin at right back, a left back who 1) doesn't know what he's doing and 2) doesn't care. We've been playing children at the back. While some of them have handled themselves well, they're still some way from being good enough.
  5. why give it 11? why not just make 10 better? awesome film
  6. ...well aye... a garage. Where else would you keep your Car? on bricks...? fucking Prol
  7. If you don't concede, you don't lose. That is fact. It is irrefutable. We do need a striker but I'd rather we wait until the right one is available because historically strikers cost more than Defenders and are more likely to fall short of their promise. I'm saying that in Martins we have a good striker who (when playing with confidence) is a genuine match winner, but he is unable to plow a lone furrow. He DOES need a partner, I think, however, that in Sibierski, Dyer, Milner and Carrol we have four make-weights. Not nearly good enough to be a first choice striker, but good enough as a fall back. When I look at our defence I don't see a good defender, I see a couple of kids with some degree of promise and the rest are makeweights. We need at least three good defenders to come in, imo. We are in desperate need for fullbacks and if we, instead, spent £9m on a striker I'd be furious. Buying a striker potentially solves one position, we're lacking in four. Defenders cost less so we could potentially solve at least two of those positions. It seems logical to me to buy players that will turn losses into draws at the very least. We could have scored four goals against birmingham and we STILL would have lost because of the back four. We are incredibly lucky to have Given, if not for him we'd be relegation certainties. So quite how you could justify spending big (which we'd have to, not only because strikers cost more, but also because every one knows we're in the market for a striker) on a goal scorer when we haven't squared away the back four is, to me, a mystery. I'll repeat my original point, if you don't concede, you don't lose.
  8. I can just see Rio Ferdinand and John Terry now, fighting like fuck to hold onto the 0-0 draw, swamped by the opposition because the forwards and midfield players keep giving the ball away. Maybe they would improve the 4% possession we had in the Spurs last 3rd of the pitch or whatever it was last sunday. I'm sure it would be money well spent at the moment. I can just see Henry and Rooney now, twiddling their thumbs as the ball time and again rattles into the back of their net, devoid of possesion because their centre halves frantically fail to get to grips with the game at all. Maybe they would get a touch on the ball and improve on the 1-5 deficit we fell to against Birmingham, if their midfielders were able to spend more time supporting the attack instead of trying desperately to assist an ailing back four? I'm sure it would be money well spent. and those defenders would score as many goals as Watford if we are lucky and those strikers would be as stout in defence as sunderland, no doubt. seriously, you can't see that defenders are the priority and while we DO need strikers we should direct our attention to the weakest area of our squad?
  9. I'm more upset that you could have been a normal, sound, non-dickish lad... but somehow it's not to be.
  10. would love to have the time and dedication to learn an instrument, but other than air-drums I can't play for shit.
  11. nobody plays the lottery to win a tenner, and 9m return from a 75m to 1 shot isn't worth it in my eyes.
  12. bugger, the Euromillions is only £9m... I thought it was closer to £20m. won't play it this week.
  13. he's only 16, I'm sure he'll get off with a warning
  14. got a hectic day of... erm... job hunting today so bugger all basically... I'll buy a Euro millions ticket today though, spend the rest of the day daydreaming about what I'll spend it on

  16. Quality, not quantity. maybe the interlopers should be tagged and introduced slowly into society, you know... to properly integrate their culture into our own?
  17. You mean that they'll scurry back under the rock from whic they crawled?
  18. With the exception of last night's game, I was at every single one of those... I'd also add: 6. Newcastle 1 Liverpool 4 87/88 - Petrified of Barnes, Beardsley & Aldridge we forgot all about Steve Nicol who ended up with a hat-trick it's you man, you're a fucking Jinx!
  19. they should all stay... it's just that they should grow up and curb their twat-streak
  20. I think that Roeder has done a good job when you look at the injury list for this season, but he is not the man for the job when the stars return. I'd keep him at the club, but he wouldn't be the main man. I don't think this is knee-jerk at all, I know I've always been saying that Glenn is a nice guy, he's just not the right guy. oh and we're still in the UEFA cup lads, so y'never know....
  21. An Update, it looks like my russian friend isn't the only fella with financial woes, this bloke is interested in pimping my bankbalance to the tune of $44m! that's £22m! I'll have a slice of that cake thankyou very much.. ... hangon... a "Yahoo" address... could it be that this is not a legitimate transaction....?
  22. something cannot be "New" and "Improved"... it's either new, or it's improved. /petpeeve oh and get a curry sandwich, put grated cheddar cheese and 5 BBQ Pringles inside. fat-fuck-o-rama
