  1. Don't think Haidara was great yesterday either although I thought he was a bit better than Janmaat. As you've suggested, he was better than Janmaat defensively but offered very little going forward. I'm in too minds as what was more important yesterday. I'm possibly on the side that at home to Stoke you want to see your fullbacks attacking more. Mind you, we didn't seem to be playing with anyone in front of Janmaat on the right whereas we had Sammy (addmittedly not doing much at all) on the left.
  2. Thought he was the only player who looked capable of creating anything yesterday and couldn't believe it when he was taken off. I doubt we'll ever see the best of him with Carver as manager mind. I don't think Carver has the brains to utilise fully a player like him who doesn't fit into the traditional positions. He grafts a lot more than Ben Arfa ever did though. He's soft as shit and falls down too easy still but he does actually try to make tackles so I can't really see them having the same complaints with him as they did with Hatem.
  3. That was what I meant. I don't really see a couple of months of people talking about it in the way you said establishing Sports Direct as brand though. I'm no marketing expert like.
  4. Thought Janmaat was poor yesterday like. Not as bad as Sissoko, Colo or Williamson but I wasn't impressed with him at all. Can't really say anything positive about anyone other than Cabella, Perez or Colback anyway though.
  5. Stevie's spot on. The game was boring as fuck and we are now too. The crowd was so apathetic it's embarassing but you can't blame people for feeling that way. It comes from the top and you know the players feel it too. The whole club is rotten now and I don't see it changing any time soon.
  6. Aye but that wouldn't have lasted would it. In general it would have just been called St James' Park by most.
  7. Aye I know. That was why I said I think the stadium naming thing is pretty worthless. That stadium has always been ibrox and to nearly everyone always will be. Stadium naming works on the likes of the Emirates because it was never called anything else. Even if he could do it for nothing, I don't think it gives SD anywhere near the advertising we give him by being in the premier league. Shirt sponsorship might just about be worthwhile like.
  8. I think it's a lot more subtle. I didn't expect it to be as funny as I found it. I just really liked all the characters from the start. Although I did find Aiden Gillen's Irish accent a bit weird. Especially given that he is Irish. Just watched What We Do In The Shadows and I thought that was really funny too. The werewolves were brilliant.
  9. Calvary. Excellent. Not a comedy like the Guard but still has some great humour to go with the dark subject matter. Brendan Gleeson is excellent as ever.
  10. As I understand it, the advertising around the ground that he does here can't be done in the champions league. They have specific sponsors (Ford and such) who sponsor the champions league so other advertisments get covered up. In order so get anything out of the champions league Sports Direct would have to be their shirt sponsor or their stadium sponsor (something which I don't see as providing much given the history of Ibrox). I seriously doubt that's more valuable to him the free advertising he gets in the premier league every week with us.
  11. This is exactly my fear. He doesn't seem to give a fuck about the football other than to keep us in the division in order to maximise what Sports Direct gets from us. He could get even more exposure by getting us into the champions league but that would take spending more than he's interested in risking (more that FFP would allow anyway now). So it benefits him to keep things as they are. Unless something goes really wrong with his finances and he needs the cash or something massive happens in football to make him need to ditch us, I really can't see him going anytime soon.
  12. I'm not anywhere near as confident as you but I hope so.
  13. Come on, you didn't expect an in depth analysis or insider knowledge did you?
  14. Not sure I'd go that far like. He looked like he had improved a hell of a lot over the time he'd been away and he looked a lot better suited to our league than Anita does but the full package is pushing it.
  15. Apparently there's an automatic trigger in the deal where they have to sign him if he plays so many games. If that's the case it's probably a reasonable deal for us if they're paying most of his wages until then (and probably a loan fee too). It's not like we were desperate for the funds to be able to sign anyone ourselves was it!
  16. I rate Krul, Janmaat, Colback, Sissoko, Perez and Cisse. Cabella looks like he's starting to come to terms with the league and I think he will be in that crowd soon enough. Hopefully SDJ will also. He looked good whenever I saw him for Ajax so I'm fairly confident he will do the job. Haidara has potential but is still a little raw. Clearly he is now the best leftback we have. Aarons has burst on the scene this season and if he can stay fit and progress he could be a real star. Armstrong seems to have a bit about him too. His size and our attempts to punt long balls to him have held him back a bit but I still have hope that he is a propper footballer. He needs to go out on loan (not to fucking Rangers). Abeid has come back from Greece and looks like he might just be a footballer too. Not sure whether he will ever make it into the top bracket or not but certainly looks worth a shot. Colo looks to be fading fast. I hope it's just Williamson dragging him down but I worry he is gone now. The rest look nothing more than squad players (maybe that's harsh on Riviere as he's not had a real chance with decent players around him) with some of them (particularly Williamson) not even that good. I think the reality is that even if we kept all of the players we have now in the summer, we'd still need two centrebacks, a centre mid and another striker so that we had a starting 11 full of top half players.
  17. Aye this was always on the cards after that!
