  1. If we post a profit of £50m and spend all of it I doubt it would turn this squad into anything special. We need a £20m striker and another £10m one. We need a good £20m of centrebacks and then we need at least one decent winger (more if Aarons doesn't start making some impact). We then need to add to the squad. There's not enough in £50m to do that imo.
  2. Bring 'Em Back Alive was another favourite of mine from the 80's. Can't remember anything about it now like but I loved it back them. A-Team was the best though.
  3. At least they've now realised we're a little bit short of defenders. After selling two of them this year!
  4. None of those are big fees anymore are they? Everton paid about £27m for Lukaku that's a big fee. £12m for Cabella (if that figure is correct and I doubt it) is way less than we paid for Shearer twenty years ago.
  5. We need a fast bowler like. The Aussies strike fear into our batsmen with their pace but our lot are pretty pedestrian usually.
  6. He's always seemed like he would be a good opener to me. He seems to have the temprement (well when he's not having his problems) to be a player who can stick in and you can build your innings around. I've not followed how he's been doing since he returned like so I don't know if the call up is deserved but really it's the likes of Root, Butler, Ali & Balance who have impressed at various times over the last year whereas the senior players (Cook, Bell, Prior, Anderson, Broad) have been well out of form. We need to help out the youger players so if he is back in form and mentally ok it seems to make sense to bring him back in.
  7. It started turning in to a bad Tom Jones impression last season.
  8. I see Trott's back in the test squad. Desperation or a sensible approach to a squad that needs some it's senior players to help out the promising younger lads?
  9. GOT is my favourite series ever but Aiden Gillen's accent is getting ridiculous. Not as bad as his Irish accent in Calvary though!
  10. Still don't think it was anywhere near a red card. Raylor, Janmaat, Williamson, Haidara (assuming he's fit) for those games then?
  11. I agree with that like. If there actually was an organised bouycott that a good portion of the fans went along with I'd be behind it. But there isn't so why should I feel bad for getting the enjoyment that I do still get from going (obviously that enjoyment isn't as much as it was).
  12. I refer you to my earlier statement, our coaches aren't good enough. In the time they've been there (and I'm including as assistants to Pardew), they've never come up with any discernable plan to effectively utilise our more tricky, less physical attackers. Don't expect them to start now!
  13. It's interesting to watch the way some of the threads on here go from one thing to something completely different (and weird) in a short space of time
  14. None of those options allow us to play the game we like to play (ie the striker only gets a pass if it's punted from the defence). Armstrong got a run out against Burnley and we continued to hump the ball to him. He's a fucking Hobbit and you'd think he was Jan Koller the way were playing to him. I honestly don't believe our coaches have the ability to get get us to play in a way in which we can accomodate a forward line with no physical prensence. That's why we need Riviere to produce something.
  15. Well quite possibly. For his own sake he'd be right to move on rather than stay while we twat high balls up to him and do fuck knows what in training. I see from Carvers comments in that article, that he's certainly taken some notes from Pardew. "I took him out of the firing line and I was right to do so." What a cock!
  16. He's played in every game except Leicester since the turn of the year and started most of them. And it's a massive jump from the physical (and mental) demands of the Spanish second division to the Premier League. He's definitely looked a bit jaded to me recently but then again who hasn't. I do believe they are trying to protect him to an extent. I also believe our coaches don't have a fucking clue when it comes to setting out a team so that will be a part of it too.
  17. A mate of mine went to see the U18's and U21's the other week and was considerably less than impressed by both of them. He reckons only Woodman and Kemmen looked like they have any hope of making it beyond the Northern League. He did say though that if we had any decent coaching it might help but as it is all of our teams from the U18's up play exactly the same sort of nothing hoofball.
  18. I'm taking that as fact rather than a theory!
  19. Tbf while he's done really well, he does struggle up front on his own (especially when the service he gets are forty yard punts from Williamson). I can see the reasoning for playing Riviere in that role ahead of him even though he can't hit a barn door. I would certainly prefer to see Perez played alongside him though in preference to the completely useless Gouffran or played deeper in place of Sammy or Obertan who are also both pretty useless. His form has certainly dipped a bit recently so I think they have been looking to rest him a bit to help him out.
  20. Perhaps Graham Rix would be a better fit?
  21. Poyet has been sacked I see. No surprise after watching their game on Saturday and listening to his weird comments after.
  22. 3 Days To Kill. Utter shite. I don't know why I bothered giving Costner another chance, I can't remember the last time he was in anything remotely watchable.
  23. Aye I think that's the story for most of us (and the players) now!
