Sounds like Tron to me. Not really. In Tron they know they are in a virtual reality. And it was annoying as shit to watch, I still don't think I've sat all the way through it. Do they not in the Matrix like? You're basically claiming it's hugely original because no-one's made a film called the matrix about the Matrix. Tron, Superman, Ghost In The shell and any other film that shares the same themes are disregarded by you because they aren't identical. Oasis don't play all the same notes in the same order, but they've lived off the Beatles for 7(?) albums. I don't think there's anyone alive who at the age of five didn't look at their hand and think "I wonder if that's really there" or look in the mirror and think "is that what other people see" or look at blue and think "I wonder if other people see pink". There's nothing original about the ideas in the film. Superman? You've lost me there. The idea that the simulation is unknown to the masses is central to the Matrix, nothing like what occurs in Tron. I think you've generalised originality in the same way Alex did. I assume HF mentioned Superman because it's basically a story about the coming of a Messiah just Neo is in The Matrix.

Star Wars and Memento are both fantastic films (two of my favourites) but The Matrix is just a good action movie, nothing more imo. I have it on DVD and I enjoy watching it but I don't consider it anywhere near one of the best films ever made. That generally seems to be a veiwpoint of people who haven't seen a very wide range of films.

He's shown time and time again that he will play a few good games and then just go back to the same shite again. Get rid and start again or we will just continue with the same shite. We need two new centrebacks if he goes and two if he stays. In fact if all three of them stay we still need two as none of them are anywhere near good enough.

No doubt we'll be buying him back for £10m+ in three or four years! I haven't seen much of him this season but I have been impressed by the variety of goals he's scored as well as the quantity. I always expected him to knock them in from within the six yard box but I was surprised to see him hitting free kicks in too!

Rumour has it Dyer has put in a transfer request
David Kelly replied to Gemmill's topic in Newcastle Forum
That's one of the best points raised. Personally I doubt it. I just don't see where he fits in as we end up really weak in the centre if he plays his prefered position of centre midfield. He does nothing to compliment our two best strikers and he doesn't like playing on the right so he usally will do well there for a while but then get pissed off and put in non displays like yesterday. As a player I think we can easily afford to lose him but my only wory is that he is still one of the big players in our squad and I think this would send out some worrying signs to other players. That never bothered Alex Ferguson.... If we can get £5m for him and off the wage books I'd be delighted. Manure are always a much bigger draw to players due to fact that they regularly win trophies. We don't have that and players like Dyer handing in transfer requests could be seen as a signal of the direction we are headed! -

When he was playing there with Speed I would have agreed with you but it's a long time since he's put in anything like those kinds of performances. Now when he plays there he just seems to disapear. Emre puts in a much better shift even if he's been nearly as unproductive! -

Big Trouble In Little China - Quite possibly the most fun film ever made. Jack Burton is a legend. -
Newcastle United Vs Chelsea: Official Match thread
David Kelly replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
tbh Well said that man. I actually don't watch Roedent's post match interviews cos they're irrelevant to me. You know you're gonna get a load of crap about team spirit etc when the only question that matters is where's the evidence of team spirit when it really matters, like Bolton/Wigan away etc etc? Draw at home against Chelski. Big deal tbf. Aye I think it all goes to show Roeder up as being unable to motivate the players against the teams that they feel they should easily beat. -
I thought Emre played well yesterday although I agree with whoever said he should be pushing further forward. Dyer was shit and has been for ages now. He's done nothing in any game for a long time (of course this hasn't been helped by him playing up front with Martins for a lot of the games).

The home strip at the time was fucking shite too. Any strip that looks terrible on a footballer isn't going to look good on your average overweight man in the street and every single player looked terrible in that seasons strips.

That purple, orange and green thing has to be in the top two or three worst strips of all time.

How did this scum escape a custodial sentence ?

Should all get a right good kicking in the cnuts if nothing else. -
Loved that as a bairn. Had completely forgotten about it until you mentioned it. It's a classic.

Borat - Incredibly funny in bits (the ones where the Americans didn't have a fucking clue what was going on) but let down a bit by some of the set ups. Stranger Than Fiction - Pretty good. Not the Will Ferrell Eternal Sunshine that it was touted as but more a high concept romantic comedy. It suffered a bit from not really being able to come up with an ending that matched the premise. -
The Animal Olympics is far and away the best thing ever done!

A bloke who's played in a couple of games can see it yet our coaches have missed it for years!

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari - German silent film from the 20's. Not bad and certainly interesting but not something I'd be desperate to see again. -
Good luck finding any of them! I'll be off like a shot tbh, the whole club has been an embarassment yet again this season and I won't be sticking around for more than I have too. If they had any sense they would just get straight of the pitch but I'm sure there will be another pathetic spectacle.

Well we can stop taking the piss out of the scum for the "get your season tickets now" after this shite.
-
The National - Boxer It doesn't have anything of the intensity of Abel but after a couple of listens it seems rather good.

A must see then 'The Prestige' - canny good - 7/10. Watched the Prestige last night and I enjoyed it even though the twist was blatently obvious from half way through at least! -

Pan Labyrinth. Very good but I have to admit I was slightly disapointed after all the gushing reviews. Still better than 90% of the films coming out of Hollywood these days. -
Don't Look Back Into The Sun and Can't Stand Me Now are both excellent songs but I could never really get into either of their albums tbh.

He hasn't impressed me tbh. We need someone who will be able to lead our back line in the premiership and I don't believe he's up to that at the minute. He may well be a solid premiership defender in the future but we can't afford to wait for that to happen (which it probably wouldn't with our coaches).
