Alan Thompson definitely went to Willington high school. He was a couple of years above me there. I can understand why Rafa would be so fucked off with Ashley that he wanted away but I would be a bit disappointed if he went to West Ham. Them two are as big a pair of clowns as Ashley is. The only difference is they promise the earth and deliver fuck all. Ashley doesn't bother promising anything. I think he'd be on to a losser if he went there but it just shows how much of a cunt Ashley is that we have to be worried about it at all. Mind you, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's not just Rafa using West Ham as a bargaining tool with Ashley. Risky game if he is.

I'd have been tempted to give Butler the gloves and move Bairstow up to 4. Bairstow is probably second only to Root as the most reliable run getter we have at the moment so I want to see him in as early as possible. Also giving Buttler the gloves might make feel that he can contribute in more ways to the team so not feel like he has to go out and start hitting from ball one. No idea about this Bess kid but I'm glad we're giving a young lad a go in this series. Sticking with Moeen as a front line spinner has made no sense for a long time. It's got to be Stoneman's last chance. I'm a bit surprised they haven't given someone younger a go in this series. If Stoneman fails again they are going to have to try someone new against India. And unless Jennings can continue on from his last couple of knocks, or Hameed can find some form again, it's going to have to be someone completely new. And if Cook also struggles and decides to call it a day, we could be needing two new openers to come in.

Rafa's god-like grafters v Antonio's turgid turds

I kind of agree but I think our money needs to spent on a 9, 10 & 11 as a priority so I'm happy to rely on what we have plus a replacement for Hayden for now. -

Empire gave Deadpool 2 four stars. Considering their Marvel wankathon is still in full flow, it suggest it must be a right turd. I thought Game Night was ok but nothing special. -

I think that's right. But he's 31 in June so there's a concern that he will start fading with age. -

That is a possible concern but I wouldn't be putting it at the top of the list. For me you keep him, Shelvey and Merino and replace Hayden (who I think is great person to have at the club, but unfortunately I don't think he's progressing). I don't think there's any real reason why we should expect him to fall away so quickly that it becomes a problem. He might not keep hitting the heights he has been since Christmas but I don't see his performances dropping off a cliff as long as he plays where he has been. -

Yeah I that's what I was meaning about Cole. My problem with Perez is nothing to do with him being fancy. It's that he gives away possession too frequently. We don't have that much of it so we need to look after the ball better when we do. Of course he's been vital to us, we've not got anyone else who can play in his position. -

We desperately need a new 9 and 10. I assume Mbemba will be away so we need another centreback for cover at least (Lacelles and Lejeune are more than acceptable as first choice), an upgrade on Yedlin and Hayden would also be more than welcome. That's in addition to signing/replacing Kenedy and Dubravka. -
Aye Lejeune got injured by Kane in that first game and Lacelles came on to replace him.

I doubt he's even close to that when you think about some of the players we have signed for around that amount in the past (Andy Cole leaps to mind) but I do take your point that we spent next to nothing on him in this age and we've more than had our money's worth from him. -

He gives up possession far too much for me and I think in that position you need to have a player who can keep the ball and take pressure away from the defence. He also very rarely manages to beat a man (he's not the only one by any means like). -
Whether he's better than the likes of Keane, Maguire and Mawson I don't know as I've not paid a great deal of attention to them. But the fact that they are around and have been more highly rated in some circles is good for us in hoping he stays, because it means he's not necessarily the standout choice for other teams looking for a new centreback.

I generally think Perez is dog shite but towards the end of the season he actually popped up with a few goals and yesterday I thought he was very good. If he could regularly play like that I'd be over the moon, but more often than not we get the Perez who played against Everton. Hope he can be more consistent but if we're still relying on him come the start of next season we will have failed in our summer recruitment. -
He's one of very few batsmen that have been near the England Squad who is. Wood has 3 wickets so far today.

I've always liked Superhero movies and as I've previously said I really enjoyed the new Avengers one. But I agree with Gloomy that there is just too many of them these days. I think it's more Superhero Fatigue than Spiderman Fatigue (the new film was just boring). Fish is right that there is plenty of other options out there if you want to go to the cinema and see something else. I go most weeks and I do get to see plenty of different types of films. What I do feel though is that the options of action films these days is limited and disappointing. It seems that all we get is either a Marvel, a Fast & Furious or Liam Neeson doing his latest version of Taken. The variation and quality certainly appears to have dropped. KD is also right, if you don't get a chance to go to the cinema often and are unfortunate enough to try and go a time when the latest Marvel (or Star Wars) film is in full swing, you can be very disappointed in the options you have. Anyway I managed to catch some of Casablanca and The Princess Bride yesterday morning. Two great bank holiday films. -

I was bored out of my mind throughout Civil War. The plot holes didn't come into it for me because it didn't engage me at all apart from Spiderman. Which made it strange that Homecoming also didn't engage me in the slightest. The stream I was watching of it cut out half way through and I've never bothered going back to it. Ultron I really can't remember what happened now but I know it was wank. -
He's on at All Points East when I go there next bank holiday weekend. Can't say I'm massively bothered about seeing him mind although I've not heard of a lot of the other people who are on past Bjork, Beck & Flying Lotus.

Was that Thor bit worthy of a spoiler? I don't think you need to have seen the last Thor at all but it's worth watching as it's one of the better Marvel films anyway. My mate hadn't watched the Dr Strange film and aside from him not having a clue who Wong was, I don't think it hampered him at all. Personally I think anyone's life would be better for not watching Avengers 2, Spiderman Homecoming and Civil War. -
Fuck all I suspect. He’s just got to pay for their massive losses each month. If he can get shot of their bigger earners he might be ok. But I suspect they could end up supplementing some of their wages to get rid of them. If it doesn’t start well for them and they aren’t selling tickets he’s going to have problems covering what they’re losing. Even with reduced wages I imagine their monthly payroll dwarfs every other club in that division.

Agreed. I’ve had too much to drink to work the spoilers thing so I’ll not elaborate. I agree with Fish that Thanos is a good bad guy. Don’t think it had more heart than the first guardians. Second maybe. -

Don’t need to have seen all of them at all. Having seen the last captain America will certainly help but since it’s turgid I’d advise against it. Same with the previous avengers. You can probably get away without seeing dr strange, black panther, the second guardians, Spider-Man and the last Thor (although I thoroughly enjoyed Thor and guardians). Quite a bit of the one liners but there’s plenty of them that come from the guardians and Thor and as such are fine imo. -
Aye, Louise Taylor called him an experiment that didn't work then scored him an 8 out of 10 last week.
