Surely Sunderland fans must have their own chapter in Psychiatric text books now. Their ability to completely dismiss any truth they don't like and blame it on the mysterious Geordie conspiracy to keep them down surely deserves a syndrome named after it.

Dunno if I'd have it better than Guardians but I certainly enjoyed it more than most. -

Don't believe Gemmils hype. I'm amazed you've not seen it already tbh. It was really only because there's fuck all else on at the moment that we went to see it. My mate hadn't seen the second Avengers or Dr Strange so there was a few people he had no idea who they were. He still managed to enjoy it though. -
Another team beaten by Newcastle in Leicester this season.

Mitrovic has played as much for us since January as he would have had he not gone to Fulham. I also believe that he's much better than Joselu but either Rafa doesn't (I don't believe this is the case) or he has other reasons for not playing him. The only reason to think about Mitro now (as long as Rafa is here), is to wonder how much money we can get for him.

I've not said anything about what happens in it, just what I felt could happen right from the the start of it. -
From what I can gather, they're still making losses so while not having the threat from the debt over their heads is clearly a good thing for them, anything else is going to be hugely dependent on what their new owners have to put in. At this stage we have no idea who their owners will be so it's impossible to know how much benefit they are going to see. My first though is though that even without the debt, they are going to need cost cutting for at least this season so it's really still very much up in the air whether or not they will have any sort of squad capable of putting together a promotion challenge. Having new owners who aren't actively trying to get shot of the club must a positive for them though and positives is what they need more than anything.

Totally agree with this. It takes us playing at 100% with the players we have and it's no wonder that subconsciously they have relaxed a bit now that the job is done. I mean, I'm tired of the season and looking forward to a break from it all and I'm just watching. I do think that Rafa will get into them about this though and it certainly wouldn't surprise me if we don't pick up a fair bit on Saturday. Was nice to see that even with a poor performance we are still managing to be tough to beat and solid at the back. Apart from the Man U win, Dubravka has had very few saves to make in any of his games.

I really enjoyed that. It's only the second episode I've listened to but I love Mortimer. He wasn't being as funny as he is in Athletico or on TV but generally he can't help being funny even when he's being serious. Glad to hear he's doing more stuff with Vic too.

There is a podcast about the Golden State Killer that I just listened to the first episode of last week. Given this new turn of events it'll be interesting to see how it pans out (the podcast I mean). It's called Unmasking A Killer.

Went to see the new Avengers film last night. After the last Avengers and the last Captain America (not to mention Dr Strange, Black Panther and Spiderman) I wasn't really expecting too much but I was very pleased to find out that I really enjoyed it. Right from the start there seemed to be a real threat that major characters would probably be killed off (even if you still imagine that there would be a fair chance they'd come back in some form in the future given that it's a Marvel film and you regularly see that happening in comics and lets face it, they are a cash cow for them) that made for much more interesting action scenes. They also managed to bring the comedic elements from the last Thor film and the Guardian's films which I think is where Marvel films usually fail or succeed. -
I love Athletico Mince. You can pretty much ignore all of the fat Mackems stuff but Mortimer is a genius. The Sunderland songs (particularly the fact that KFC and donkeys are so regular) Beardsley and gangs of the EPL are all brilliant. I miss the South African stuff which seams to have tailed off. Fucking gang bangers, you gotta love them.

It was only when I ready that drivel from Taylor yesterday that I realised that Watmore wasn't actually a product of their academy. This makes it far more likely that he'll leave in the summer if he's fit enough for anyone to want. He's not got a great amount of skill but the pace he has(had) would most likely make him a standout player in league one. I'd imagine the likes of Gooch and Honeyman will manage to come through this season without their reputation being too badly harmed by the dross around them so they could potentially find teams like the ones Fish mentions willing to take a punt on them. Clearly the likes of Lens, Karzi, Kone, Borini will all be away. But there's no way they will get anything like the money they are hoping for for them. As Alex notes, none of their players are going to be attracting premier league interest so there's no chance of the really big money. And with everyone knowing the god awful financial position they are in anyone who is interested in their players will be bargain hunting. This will result in no money to spend again so that even if they might be a draw for players at that level they won't be able to afford them. I can see them having a team that consists of the players that were so shit no one even wanted who's morale can't be good now and will hardly be improved by being stuck in a team that's not being improved. I've not seen any of their games this season to I don't really know how bad these players are. But I don't think you really need to know to predict them struggling next season. I know how we were after years of Ashley, Pardew, Carver and McClaren. Had we stuck with the Wally With The Brolly we would have went down and stayed in the Championship for years. The morale at the club was the lowest I've ever known. It took a world class manager to change that. The state of them lot is far worse than we ever were. Coleman is by far the highest profile manager they could have hoped to get in their situation and he's managed to do fuck all to improve them. I'm sure they will point to Rafa taking us down but in the last couple of months of the season there was improvement that was clear for all to see culminating in the thrashing of Spurs. But even away from the results, we clearly took Rafa to heart. Can the same be said of them with Coleman? They might talk him up a bit but the proof is in massive numbers of unused pink seats in their ikea stadium. The apathy from their support means that even those who do keep going to the games will quickly turn on them when things don't go to plan and unless there is a change of ownership for someone very wealthy who can support them with funds for transfers, that black cloud hanging over them is going nowhere. Fuck knows how bad the standard is in league one. I suspect it's more than bad enough to keep them comfortably away from the threat of relegation. But in order to mount any sort of promotion push you need momentum and they have none (certainly not in a forward direction). Mid table obscurity is where they'll be.

Their 3 keepers this season got either a 4 or 5 from her. I reckon it would take a keeper with no arms to earn a score of 0 on that marking system. • Donald Love (Manchester United, £1m): Tries but not good enough at right-back. 6/10 What about that description suggests someone who deserves a 6 out of 10? They bought him for the premier league and he's been shown to be not good enough for the championship. £1m is nothing in today's transfer market for a premier league player but paying it for a league 1 (at best) surely deserves less than a mark which suggests more positive than negative. She really is the sports reporting equivalent of Sunderland.

I had a lazy Sunday and re watched the first season (I spotted quite a few hints this time round when I already knew what was happening) so I was keen to get straight into the new season.

Shelvey's schmeckel swingers v Hippo Heed's horror show
David Kelly replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Thought it was very similar to the Burnley Monday night game. Shit game that could have easily gone either way. Typically when he’s being talked up for England, Shelvey was the poorest he’s been in ages. And after being talked up for his recent performances, Perez showed why we desperately need to replace him in the summer. But we gave away very little and with a bit of luck or a competent referee we probably would have won. I loved Pickfords reaction. It reminded me of that time Sunderland got relegated to league one by Burton. -

I fucking hate the bisto drinking cunt. So after the weekends festivities, I fully expect to be beaten this evening. -
That is one of the finest examples of Mackem behaviour I’ve ever seen. Absolute gold.
-
I couldn’t be happier at the moment if Scarlett Johansson was rimming me. As if I’d if them going down wasn’t enough. But bent scoring the equaliser for burton and the thick cunts not even knowing they were down! Christ I’m not expecting any Christmas presents for the next century.
