  1. Being a bigger club allows you to get better managers though. Has there been any traditionally big clubs who have really fallen and not managed to come back at least most of the way in the last thirty or forty years? You probably have to go back to the likes of Preston or Blackpool for clubs who were once big and never managed to at least partly re establish themselves. I'd love to see the mackems give it a go mind.
  2. I was in the car for a bit of their first half last night so was listening to the radio Newcastle commentary. They mentioned Camp's name and I did think to myself that it was a shame that they'd managed to get themselves a half decent keeper for the rest of the season after the performances from the chuckle brothers. Then I heard Gary Bennett's reaction to the goal and pissed myself laughing. As if rest of the setup wasn't bad enough but the amount of goals their keepers have cost them this season is brilliant.
  3. Anything is possible with complete mismanagement from the top, but I think that's what it would take for any club around the size of us to really drop for any significant time. Leeds are smaller and although they still haven't completely recovered from Ridsdale, they reasonably easily moved out of league one despite being owned by a loon.
  4. Lets not spoil the fun of taking the piss out of her though.
  5. I quite like how he developed towards the end.
  6. That was very much my thoughts on it. Fucking hate that pathetic excuse for a club. I see they're still covering half their seats to hide the fact no cunt turns up to watch them.
  7. I don't think there's any doubt which one they'd go for.
  8. Is she a real athlete and not just another one of these ones just turning up for a laugh. From what I've seen of her I reckon I could do better. I've only skated once but managed to stay off me arse. Maybe she needs some of those shoes the curlers wear? They never seem to fall over on the ice.
  9. Hows Carlisle doing this season? Any chance of a derby for them?
  10. They might have got the win if Debbie Ali hadn't continued with her diving.
  11. Their only hope of getting rid of the shower that they have at the moment is a further relegation clause in the their contracts which might get them down to a level that bottom half of the championship teams might be able to afford. But I serious doubt they factored the possibility of a second relegation into any contracts. The better players (ie the ones who are already out on loan) will go for a comparative pittance and they'll be left with the likes of McNair, Love, Matthews (nope I don't know who he is either), O'Shea if he doesn't retire and the young kids. I can't see them having much money to even bring in some experienced lower league players to help their plight. I must admit, I'm enjoying this.
  12. Aye her reaction was brilliant. You have to hand it to the Russians don't you. No one could have expected they'd go so far as to dope curlers but they go all out with their drugs programmes.
  13. Aye it's superb. Watched the first episode of Altered Carbon and it looks really promising. As does Collateral which started on BBC2 last Monday.
  14. Standard Pardew. I generally have no feelings one way or another to West Brom but I'd love to see him take them down.
  15. Aye if they go down those players will be worth even less purely because any club wanting to buy them will know how shit a position they will be in. They had no interest in playing for them in the championship so they have fuck all chance of getting them to play in league one. Even the ones that haven't been flops while out on loan like Lens and Karzi will go for a fraction of what they might have. Any interested clubs will have a massive upper hand on them because of this the knowledge of their finances. I can't see them getting more than £5m for anyone.
  16. Why was that? Must be a reason why he's king of the caveat.
  17. The fact that we've not had a proper leftback playing all season while Dummett was out has meant he's looked better than he probably should have since he came back. That said, I've never been anything close to a fan of his and I've been impressed with him since he's returned to the team. I didn't take much notice of him doing ok last season because most of the time he was up against dross. But now he's putting in comparable performances in the top division too. He's still pretty useless going forward, which is especially disappointing since he has a pretty decent left peg, but defensively you can't knock him much at all.
  18. The Shape Of Water. What's not to love about a romance between a mute woman and a fish man.
  19. I don't think 10 Cloverfield Lane was written that way either but I thought that worked really well. Apart from the fact that name of the film gave away whether Goodman's character was just a loon or whether his claims were true. I really liked it either way mind. I went to see The 15:17 to Paris last night which is the new film from Clint Eastwood about the attempted terrorist attack on a train headed for Paris which was foiled by (mainly) three American tourists, two of which were off duty military. The three real guys play themselves in the film rather than using actors. Unfortunately this is one of a couple of reasons why the film doesn't work. Instead of it coming across more real, it just shows them up as really bad actors. The other main reason is that the whole attempted attack lasts about ten minutes so for the rest of the film you have a pretty uninteresting story of the three guys meeting in childhood and them growing up and then taking a trip round Europe which eventually leads to them being on the train from Amsterdam to Paris. The guys (as well as one or two other who get short changed) are certainly heroes that prevented many deaths but unfortunately there's not enough in their story to last 94 minutes.
  20. My dad was telling me at the match on Sunday that he'd read their match report in the Sunday Sun and they still had 2 or 3 players who they'd scored as a 2 in the marks and most of the rest of them were 4's and 5's. Overriding impression was that this wasn't anywhere near enough to paper over the cracks. Of course regardless of how they managed it, they did manage it and it is the type of thing that they could possibly draw on to lift things and take them forward. Or more likely they'll continue to be unable to defend and get twatted off Brentford on Saturday.
  21. Difficult for the players we have to keep playing to that level. Consistency is what you get from top players not the type that we have.
  22. Reserves played again. We’re clearly focusing on ODI’s ahead of the World Cup. Strange that you’re not really. But you’ve got a much better set up for T20’s. Looks like having Warner captening instead of Smith works well (well apart from his actual batting but he’s been pretty poor all summer). We were pretty shit though it has to be said.
  23. Brilliant performance yesterday. Shelvey’s most complete performance since he’s been here. Diame alongside him continued his good form, Lejeune and Lacelles were excellent and Dummett is actually starting to win me over (defensively at least). Delighted for Dub’s start. It can be difficult for keepers to move to a new team but to have a debut like that is an absolute dream. I’m hanging today but well worth it.
  24. I keep saying this to people. I don't know what they think we can do with the players available.
  25. Slimani still not fully fit apparently. He's going to be checked on tomorrow. Can't see him starting.
