  1. Been listening to Hunger Strike quite a bit recently. The pairing of him and Eddie Vedder is superb. RIP
  2. I'd love to see Gilfi here like. I'm not at all sure about Cairney. Whereas I could see the sense with Moy as a squad player, with Cairney we need a guaranteed starter in that position and he'd be a massive risk for the premier league.
  3. We looked desperately short in midfield when Shelvey was unavailable (or having an off day) this season and would only be worse in the premier league. As I can't see us looking to replace Shelvey this summer, someone like Moy who could fill in for him for him without a dramatic reduction in quality could be a very good piece of business. It might not be a move that would improve our first team a great deal but it would certainly improve the squad (and make the possibility of having to play Hayden and Colback together less likely). Much like signing Atsu, it's not an exciting move but if it's only a deal which supplements other key signings then it could be well worth it.
  4. Collingwoods benefit match isn't it?
  5. He was comfortably the second best of all of those Nordic wonder kids behind Zlatan. Mark Collis was the first real wonder kid I can remember on it. Of course he was just one of the programmers and not a real player.
  6. Personally I think Darlow and Elliott are pretty good. Certainly don't see the position as a priority as they're as good as most of the keepers outside the top 8 or so.
  7. If that video shows one thing, it's that old blokes should never be seen in football strips. I actually think it's pretty decent.
  8. He's not prolific by any means but he's a player I like. The Chronicle are describing him as a winger but I wouldn't agree with that. Maybe not an out and out striker though.
  9. Whether he's a good signing or not depends on who else we sign. If we sign him you'd have to assume Gouffran will be away so we need to have someone as back up for a first choice. As long as this is the case then he won't be a bad signing. If we end up with him and Gouffran again we will be in trouble.
  10. Theres been a whole host of teams further up the league than us that have been linked with Gibson. Unless he has a strong desire to stay in the area I can't see us having a chance of signing him. McGuire would appear to be a much more likely option.
  11. Thought Alien Covenant was average at best. It's less about the Alien's than it is about Fassbender, there's far too much light so you can see far to much of the aliens, the aliens they have for the most part aren't the ones we want to see and the last half hour our so is obvious beyond words. If it wasn't a follow up to two of the best Sci Fi films ever it might feel better but it can't escape where it's come from. Nice to see Danny McBride not quite playing Kenny Powers for a change though.
  12. Powers Boothe gone. Was quality in Deadwood and Sin City.
  13. That strip looks pretty decent and if they are our new sponsors, I would say it's pretty likely that's what it will look like going off what they had on Burnley's kit previously and their branding. Anything other than a blue star is going to be frowned upon but if they're giving us money to spend on players, that's all that matters to me. I agree it look like a pretty low quality picture though so it's quite possible it's not legit.
  14. I imagine you're a novelty everywhere Fish.
  15. I think this might be a fair point. I don't necessarily think it would mean Gayle would be on his way but it could certainly mean he won't be first choice. That being said, Rafa could be certain that he will score goals. As Howay says though, it's very interesting if this how the players (especially our top players) are thinking.
  16. Which players was this? I could imagine the likes on Hanley and Murphy as well as some of the younger ones who have been here for years without making it (Vukic and Sammy spring to mind) but it would be interesting if there's some of the ones who played more regularly.
  17. I think that's the key point. If Rafa is happy enough with it then he must think it's enough to make us competitive.
  18. I wouldn't bother. We're going to have to spend our money wisely and although £6m isn't a massive amount, it's money that could go towards a player who could keep Gouffran out of the team in the premier league. Something that Atsu couldn't manage in the Championship. And if Atsu was our first choice I'd be very concerned.
  19. Aye I talked myself into keeping him as backup as I was typing that and thinking about the other options, none of which have impressed. But he'll get more players who are capable of ripping him to shreds in the premier league and his lack of ability on the ball hinders our attacking and ultimately would put him under more pressure. For me leftback along with left wing and a number 10 are the three positions in which I have absolutely no confidence in the ability of any of our squad to play there in the premier league (assuming Ritchie plays right wing). There are certainly the questions that Fish raises but there's a reasonable chance that Gayle, Lascelles, Mbemba and Clark can cut it in this league. From what we've seen of the players in the positions I've noted, there's virtually zero chance these players can.
  20. I'm going to see Alien Covenant at the Imax on Friday. I do expect to be disappointed even though I thought Prometheus was ok.
  21. I'm still one of those who want shot of him. He's done ok defensively against championship players yet still looks like he's lacking in quality. And we've all seen how good he is in the premier league. He's not improved at all this season, he's just played against worse players. That being said Lazaar and Haidara have shown nothing to suggest they're even worth a place as backup. There's a lot of players who haven't contributed at all this season that you could move on without weakening us one bit (Thauvin, De Jong, Saivet, Riviere, Sammy, Toney, Armstrong, Good, Krul). There should be £20m in that lot alone. Then add the likes of Gamez, Lazaar, Murphy, Hanley and Selz and there's another £10m. £30m could be used to replace what we lose with better players. I think Anita will probably stay but at his age I think Gouffran will probably move on despite the number of games he's played.
