  1. I wouldn't even call him a forward player: These are his statistics in the league since 98-99: 98-99 = 7 goals in 22 99-00 = 4 goals in 25 00-01 = 11 in 33 01-02 = 4 in 23 02-03 = 3 in 33 03-04 = 9 in 35 04-05 = 6 in 31 05-06 = 1 in 21 06-07 = 0 in 9 07-08 = 0 in 5 England = 1 in 16 You can't tell me that he didn't get any service when he played up front at his time at Leeds and Man-Utd. Imagine Shearer's statistics with the kind of service Smith was getting for example. You can have the best character in the world, all the aggression in the world but without footballing ability, without a footballing brain, you're just shite like Alan Smith.
  2. So when Shola got us from lower-mid table to europe at the end of the 05-06 season with a dodgy hip he couldn't shoot, pass, header?
  3. waste of money, only good for a booking and scuffing up the pitch with his needless sliding. Would rather have bought that Boateng fella from the israeli team for 1/6 of the money. He'd just sneak on my bench if everyone is fit. Should be no-where near the starting eleven.
  4. that Swedish defender Marklund, I'd let her tackle me in the box for sure. Now THAT's a sportswoman
  5. ... are you sure you are still talking about Viduka? That is the very basis of Shola's game yeah it has been on many occasions but I thought last night he won a fair amount of headers and his general play wasn't too bad at all, better than I've seen from Vid. I must have been watching a different game. People also forget that during his last start he set up Owen with a great through ball to beat that rather stubborn Barnsley team.
  6. I've seen all our games this season... and that is simply not true. Viduka was poor against Boro, but good against Wigan. As for being offside and giving away free kicks, you're simply talking crap. So you obviously missed the many freekicks Viduka gave away (this is because the lump can't jump off the ground and the modern day ref doesn't like his shearer-esque wrestling vs the centre halves) against both boro and Villa, and he only played a half at Wigan. To simply say I'm talking crap when the facts state otherwise is a bit harsh.
  7. It makes me fucking sick. To be fair to Ameobi, I saw the game last night, and he did more for me than Viduka has done so far in his general play. All I've seen Viduka do is score that spectacular goal against Boro (fantastic goal from a player who has it in him to do something like that out of nowhere). Ameobi was offside a couple of times last night, but Viduka has been offside way more this season and has given an awful lot more free-kicks away. Ameobi for me won more in the air than Viduka has done. Also he did hold the ball up well on a few occasions waiting for our far too defensive minded midfield to get forward. He didn't have the best of games, but people are making out that he missed 3 open goals and gave the ball away all the time....The lad had one half chance and just missed the target. Ameobi may not be the answer, but to bash him when for me he has contributed more than Viduka, is quite unfair.

  9. he's not a bad reserve striker but he's been consistently poor for us in midfield and shouldn't play there again unless the squad is stretched. i'm more than a little concerend that sam seems to think he's a right winger. He shouldnt be played in the midfield, he should be played up front or on the bench. The thing is tho, he's a pretty boogz striker as far as I can remember, hence his goals record in the league and international (even though many of those games are from midfield), the lad is shite.
  10. would rather have brought smith off for Beye and not Taylor, and stuck him at right mid as he can bomb it up and down and cross a ball. It's nice to know we have two former captains of champs league teams in the back four though =) Let's hope he settles in as well as Cacapa has pretty soon.
  11. I didn't think he was all that bad, looks alot better with the ball than Amdy, passes with pace, I think he's here as cover for centre back, and reinforcements at DMC when need be.
  12. I remember when I called the 6m signing of Smith 'DISGUSTING' and was flamed for it by a few. HE had a good game vs sampdoria soon after in a friendly, but every performance since then has been shocking. What I'd give for Nobby, even a discontented Nobby, instead of this useless tool.
  13. To be honest, I'd rather have Geremi on the right than in the middle. He's done it for Real MAdrid there, and his athleticism up and down the flank would be beneficial as would his passing and crosses (when they beat the first bleeding man!).
  14. I was so disgusted that I felt the need for a new thread if you don't mind =)
  15. Why bring Owen off soo soon in the second half? I can sort of understand this one, to give MArtins more time to make an impact. But why on earth bring Geremi off for Faye, and not ALan Smith who was once again absolutely fucking useless. All he's good for is a booking and messing up the pitch with his sliding. Geremi played Right midfield for Real Madrid more than a few times and he could cross a ball from there, so why not bring smith off, Faye in the middle, and Geremi on the right?! Unless he was injured, this really angers me. To give SMith the captains armband also, I know it doesnt really mean a lot to get the armband mid-game, but come on, It's no wonder he doesn't get on for England, and it's no wonder Man U let him go and played some fantastic football without him in the side last year. We were pretty bad in general today, defensively not as comfortable, and our set pieces were nearly all fucking abysmal. As were all the hopeful long balls. This is the kind of result that we would have got 6 months ago. No need to hit the panic buttons yet, but I hope things can click sooner rather than later. To think, we let Solano go for under a million and signed Alan Smith for 6, what a joke =/
  16. If Taylor doesn't get the same as Zog/Milner, then it's a disgrace. It's not like we can't afford it and he's a 32 year old bald frenchie with a proper heinous nose. Give the lad 30k a week, and if ramage asks for the same then ship him the fuck out.
  17. Cech's only weakness for me is from crosses. Doesn't seem the most commanding at times which is odd for such a big guy. Kinda like Calamity James but with less errors =/
  18. You're not going to go very far in life son. Disrespect will get you nowhere, and so will an inappropriate and dim sense of humour...
  19. absolutely. mclaren really ought to stick with this winning team but i suspect he'll draft in the 'star' players for the final games despite them unbalancing the side. on paper, lampard is better than barry and rooney is better than heskey but as a unit, owen plays better alongside heskey and gerrard plays better alongside barry. it would be nice to see mclaren stand up to his star players. a bench including rooney, beckham and lampard would also be pretty tasty. yes it would, mentioned it above all the usual bollocks that follows my posts =) I really hope as you say Mclaren has the bottle to put out a TEAM like the last two games and not just bow to pressure from his stars...
  20. Trouble with Emre is the previous managers couldn't keep him fit enough (his fault also), and Roeder persisted to play Emre and Parker in the middle, with Parker as the more offensive midfielder for some reason and Emre playing far too deep and not getting on the ball enough! When Emre and Butt were together, Emre looked like a decent player who could influence a game. Would like to see how he works as the left of a midfield 3 of Emre Barton Geremi but if not then I'm sure Zog could do a very effective job for us there, heck, he's the lad on form so give him the shirt there for a few weeks if Enrique is fit enough and able enough to now start at LB.
  21. Here Here, and Sepp Blatter's rejected idea of implementing tight hot pants as opposed to baggy shorts
  22. I tell you what lads, How about a choice of Rooney, Lampard, Beckham and that big lanky bastid Crouch as impact subs in the Euros! Now THATS strength in depth! Get in England, well done everyone, that was a TEAM! A FOOKING TEAM!
  23. Offshore has put me in a shite mood before hopping on the train, what a CUNT RIP Ian
  24. is Ronaldo's ex-missus still playing for Brazil?
  25. would have to bring up your twisted anti-Martins obsession wouldn't you? Was a fantastic goal, up there with the curler vs luxembourg and the argie one =)
