If you look closely a German player treads on his foot as he runs past. Make no mistake. It was a foul. But if you saw the slow motion then he went down, looked up to the referee and just then started to pretend it to be like it was a really serious foul. I won't dispute the yellow card, which was totally deserved, because it was a tactial foul, but the way Ronaldo acted made me wanting some player to delibaretly kick his head...

Don't know what people are about 'keepers today. I think apart from Lehmann's mini theadralics in the dying minutes he was realy doing ok today. Germany played really well for the first 30 minutes when they pushed Portugal in their own half. To concede the goals was rather stupid. Both times mistakes by Mertesacker who normally has an excellant positioning. Germany's third was a bit lucky because of Ballack's push. But just for Ronaldo's antics just after half time, when he went down, then looked at the referee before to cry, they deserved to lose. I don't wish any player an injury, but I do not wish Ronaldo an injury-free career. F***ing wanker he is.

Poor man's Peter Crouch according to Eamon Dunphy. But to be fair his ball control for the penalty was sublime and the chance just afterwards with his back to goal well taken.

He's a nationalistic grade A twat with no sense for sportsmanship tbh. He's a good manager though. Fantastic in motivating players and letting his team play some decent football. I am not sure if he was a success for any other team but Croatia. Croatia totally deserved it. They were the better team for nearly the whole 90 minutes. It's telling when Lehmann is your best player. Frings and Ballack got bossed in midfield and losing far too many balls. Set pieces were crap as well. Only with Schweinsteiger came a bit of creativity. It probably wasn't a red card, but if you push a player you are always in trouble. There are too many players who are not in form. Without a major increase from nearly everybody it will even be difficult against Austria...

Yakin should have made it 2-0 in the first half. 'keeper saved the equalizer (all starting from an awful dive of Altintop). Plus I hate honking parades...

It's the abortion of a football match you could expect with Rehhagel sending a team out tbh. Oh, I don't know. Turned out enjoyable enough Masochist? Rehhagel makes Allardyce looking like an advocate of attacking football.

Well, if he could have adapted to a more physical game he would have been a decent player.

Ok, just the important part. SPOX: After you were flirting with a move in the past, you can now put yourself in the shop window and show you ability at the European Championship. Van der Vaart: Absolutly. The Euro is my chance, although I like to point out that I have been playing on a high level for a couple of years now. Now everybody knows what I can do and what I can't. But such a tournament is important. When I see that nearly all of my team mates at the national team are playing for European top clubs then I'd like to do the next step as well. SPOX: What country do you prefer. Van der Vaart: Although I have said that I fancy Spain, but I don't want to rule something out. It should only be a top club, and I must have a good feeling when I sign.

Would be an excellent signing, but I can't see it happening. Said in an interview today that he is interested in a move, but only to a European top club. http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/em20...-der-vaart.html (last sentence.)

He was totally shite when he played in Germany. Frings is too old now, we should have signed him when we signed Butt... Austria's right winger Harnik would be a good option imho. He was canny quick and powerful like, but his finish the other night looked a bit ropey. Who did he play for in Germany? Sverkos? Gladbach and Hertha. Scored a total of one goal during his Jorman career. Didn't do too well in Austria either.

Seriously, how shit is the journalism from the Chronicle and its sister papers? The same story, nearly word for word, just with some extra waffle about Guifarce gets also printed under Comical Alan's name.

Damn, I thought this was about the hond German blonde from the other thread...

I think that was just you being nervous. As a neutral, I thought Germany were quite impressive and always comfortable, they never looked in any trouble and were always more likely to score. The only spell where Poland threatened was in the second half before Podolski's second goal. They should have stepped up a gear and they couldn't. I am not too sure. First half Poland had a couple of half chances as well. We have to up our game, at least we are looking some kind of solid. More match practice for Metzelder & Co can only be good...

hes rubbish and klose is the only reason he ever scores goals Especially for the second one... that is what you call a lampard goal I was more about the "assist"...

Kinners, that was hard work. Lucky first goal which easily could have called offside, second goal was a great assist from Klose. I think we were dominating the game for most of the game, just in between 30th and 60th minuted giving Poland the upper hand. It might have looked more comfortable for us if we had taken advantage of our first good chance in the early mintues, afterwards it looked a bit nervous to me. Anyway, our defence looked alright and we had some passing moves who should have resulted in scoring. After seeing Austria and Croatia we definitely have to make the quaters....

Croatia were surprisingly awful. If Austria had anything decent up front they should have got a result.

Shearer Wants To Speak To Rovers - Your Thoughts?
Isegrim replied to bluepeter1875's topic in Newcastle Forum
Keegan didn't get that lift from the players when Allardyce went. It's certainly not working all the time. Probably different circumstances as well as Keegan not only had to instill believe but also totally change the tactical style. -

I think Souness had the biggest influence back then. He lifted the mood by not being around anymore...
