  1. He'd still reach for the stars if Arsenal came in for him...
  2. Ah, Danny is posting there as well...
  3. If Man Utd hadn't have came in he'd have signed for us, he said that in his book. They were always going to and it's easy for him to say that now. According to my ITK Rooney was close to signing for us. We had a decent team then remember... We might have had a chance if we had been able to finalise a deal before it went public, but the moment Everton revealed that they had accepted a bid from Newcastle it was clear that ManU would come in and hijack the deal.
  4. Radgina could have posted this herself tbh.
  5. Yeah so probably bollocks but from what I've seen of him and at the price they are quoting it would be a canny deal. The fee mentioned is a dead giveaway for the lack of truth of this story though...
  6. Isn't what? Some sort of thing related to The Hoff. Never thought about this. But with the love of German teams to have goal music and this crap they really should look into playing songs from the Hoff.
  7. I assume it's going to be spend spend spend for Hoffenheim once again now that they've been promoted? Or was the aim of the whole laboratory project just to get them to the 1. Liga and take it from there? It's a long term project with the next step being to establish them in the top flight. They stick to their "plan" to build up a team of young players for the future with the aim that later it will be predominantely (German) youth players from their own academy. Next to their new stadium they are currently also building a new übermodern training complex.
  8. Derdiyok, who we were rumoured to be interested in, looks like he is joining Hoffenheim in Germany (newly promoted). Talks are ongoing (confirmed by Hoffenheim) with the player accoding to Basel's manager Gross having stated his intention to move on. Seens like just the fee has to be agreed after Hoffenheim's first bid of 5m Euro got rejected.
  9. Let's hope he knows his way around Tyneside though. I bet he can draw his own street map. Anyway, I actually never got lost and don't know where this reputation comes from.
  10. Sounds like a fancy dan artist tbh.
  11. I was totally stupid this year and mixed more or less everything up. I won't be able to make any pre season malarky and won't have time to make the Bolton game. But I'll be in Newcastle at some point before (ie between 17th and 23 rd). So, who ever wants to get pointed to the direction of some happy Auntie's house can still have the pleasure to meet me..
  12. tbh Don't blame me and Ocean Road of South Shields...

  14. According to Swiss reports the buy out fee is also 10m Euro. http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=771324 English tabloid in being wide of the mark shocker...
  15. I invade neighbour countries. And take over the world. Narf.

  18. I was at an Irish wedding three weeks ago. I don't know if there are the same traditions in England, but there it was a common thing to take bets on how long the speeches last in total. So as best man, I'd just start to keep it as long as possible just to piss off as many people as possible. Maybe start reciting sentencds from Ulyisses or that kind of crap.
  19. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!
  20. I am still sure that Mertesacker will play at a top European club in 2-3 years time. Yes, both of them together was not looking good at all, but maybe with a quicker CB beside him he would look better. I think that was the problem. They didn't exactly compliment each other. To be fair, the combination did well in 2006 and in most matches afterwards. The biggest problem was that Metzelder has hardly played at all last season and was totally lacking match fitness. Why Mertesacker was so nervous and lost his confidence is a bit strange, positioning and passing are normally his strength, but he looked like a Boumble (a crossing of Boumsong and Bramble) the last couple of matches.

  22. Lahm? Didn't he have a total shitter of a tournament apart from that last minute goal against Turkey? I wouldn't have put Lahm in there myself (he played well in 2/3 of the games though). But he deserves it more than Ballack tbh who was pretty shit apart from one free kick.
  23. Deserved win for Spain. They were the far better team and the most consistent team of the tournament anyway. One (+ a half) good game in a tournament are not good enough, so reaching the final means that we overachieved anyway. A bit disappointing that we couldn't build on the good game against Portugal. I can't understand why we let Turkey and Spain play their football. But going into the tournament with far too many players not being in form always meant that it would be difficult. The axis of Mertesacker - Ballack - Gomez was meant to have to carry other players, but instead they all grossly underperformed themselves. Germany have about 14-15 good player, who can play decent football (like against Portugal), but the depth of squad wasn't good enough to provide cover.
