Yep, strikers with good goal scoring records in this second rate league rarely prove to be talented players. What have the van Nistelrooys, Romarios, Ronaldos, Makaays etc. ever achieved after leaving Holland? 176369 Ronaldo was an amazing talent scoring on average a goal a game both in the league and in Europe, RVN had a decent scoring record in the CL with PSV and would have left Holland earlier if it wasn't for an injury, Makaay left for Spain at a young age but was hardly a top goalscoring in Holland, not too sure about Romario. Kuyt outside of the Dutch league has done nothing, not for Feyenoord in Europe or at International level, thats not to say he can't come here and be a top player but for £10 million it s just to big a risk IMO. 176387 I was rather about that I find it ridiculous how always performances in other leagues are played down. Of course the Premierleague is one of the top leagues, but that still doesn't mean performances and goal records in other leagues mean nothing. The Dutch league has a reputation of producing loads of talents, most of them able to prove themselves as well in "bigger" leagues. It's not like player of the standard of Heskey and Ameobi automatically would become top scoreres there...

How is Martins a proven player and not a risk? He is a young squad player from a southern European league. He is not even as proven as Luque was when we signed him...

FashionS that suited you and those that did not

The holy ghost seems quite busy these days...

Just by the way, Klose said in an interview with Jormany's leading football magazine that there were inquiries by major European football clubs (i.e. not Newcastle) in signing him, but Bremen rebuffed them by declaring him unsaleable. But he expect Bremen won't stay in his way next summer.

I still cannot grasp our transfer policy. People seem far too confident by recent talk to me. What happens if Martins knocks us back and opts for another club (because he doesn't like the English weather, wants to stay in Italy, gets offers from better clubs). And even if we signed Martins I am not convinced by him. He is just another prospect from a southern European league (probably) signed far too late. He would get thrown into English football without any time to adapt. I already can hear the excuses: "Needs time to gel with his team mates", "has to adapt to the English style of football"etc.

Listening to Talksport a couple of days I can just say (with Moritz Volz): Hoffness is everything (it even beats MacGyverness). I am just on the short stop between the afterwork drinking (nice british tradition before going out for more beer). Thanks to everybody, see you soon!

Emre certainly was the man of the match, orchestrating the game and getting involved as much as possible. And it was apparent that Duff was the only one with a bit of pace. IMHO it was a bit frightening how some of our players especially at the back could easily get overrun. Moore was more the player I used to know, giving a way a couple of really stupid free kicks and not giving the back four that kind of stability that he was capable of at the end of last season.

If no one who can get to the ground volunteers, I'll try and get you one on the phone/online Isegrim. 168691 Thanks, I might come back to you then (even if have to provide pink wine/beer). 168694 Sorted, Fritz. In the gallowgate. £34! Enjoy! 173540 GREAT. You're a star! I'll bring some cans of original Jorman kraut as reward!

I was always taking the piss out of the Villa season ticket holder I have to work with that the takeover fails and they get Souness. Doesn't look to happen though. They let people into the ground at 6pm and hold a press conference at 6.30.
-
Why in the Villa end? Villa will undoubtedly be selling tickets on the day. As they have done for the last 5/6 visits there. 170550 Damn, you should have told me three days ago...

With the talk down here about how much money he could have to his disposal if the 'merican bloke takes over there is the big chance that we will face another strong competitor for European places soon. But as Gemmill I hope he fails spectacularly.

These are our chief scouts tbh. The conversasions between the scouts and the managing staff normally involve "Iwantthatone", "But he is shite" and "Yeraknow".

Well, it's really kind as I thought Skol had changed his username again...

http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?...d=170418&st=0 Could this be the end of his beautiful narcism?

Great idea, Easter's shit. 170290 I think the health insurance industry would be opposed to this idea with no lent anymore... Though, lent/advent could probably be replaced by a healthy Jesus bicycle day... 170293 Christ on a bike day? 170353 170355 Tell you what, all these qualifications weren't wasted tbh
-
So, you're still confident about Klose for 7m ...

The fucker had better bring Kuyt or Huntelaar back with him double quick then! 170288 Watching players now in a meaningless pre-season friendly is not the base I would sign players on. So I hope he rather is going there to have immidiate talks. Though, I think Huntelaar is just wishful thinking, if at all we rather end up with someone like Charisteas who Ajax want to get rid off...
-
Jesus wept Rather get Christmas and Easter merged tbh.
-
Quelle surprise, they flogged him when he was becoming shite and now see that they made the right decision back then...
-
That's why I said that we are heading into desperation again. I still think the acquisition of players should have started in May. Just stealing Duff at the right time doesn't justify this lack in strategic planning IMHO.
