  1. We have no chance of getting Gomis or Mbia for 4 million... Hmm well Mbia is looking more likely around 5mil, and id not be too bothered if we dont get Gomis... Any thoughts on the rest of the post bud?
  2. If at the end of the window we have signed the following id be confident of us stayin in the PL. Lovenkrands - FREE and provides cover on the flanks and up front Neill - SMALL FEE and would give us cover for the whole back line, most importantly whilst Beye is injured Mbia - 4-5mil, Tough tackling midfielder, cant strike the ball and good with his head, ong term replacement for ARSE? i mea Butt? Yes i think we'd still need an attacking CM but with Barton coming back, id like to see how he plays for the remainder of the season. Gomis? Well he'd be ok for 4 mil providing we shifted Xisco, was touted as the next Didier Drogba, was poor last yar but wouldnt be a ba signing a someone has already said we could ose Viduka and Owen at the end of the season. And i dont think martins will go anywhere unless someone triggers his minimal fee release clause. Even in this dark time im still hopefull, some woould call it dillusional but... If we get the above in, and maybe these two loans (Italian and Argie) and push on to finish in the top half, keep a relavtively decent diciplinary record we could get into europe, know our sqaud atm wouldnt not be good enough to play in europeb we would be in a better situation to lure better players, keep our best players (Martins, Owen, Given N'Zogbia) n move forward. Maybe im dillusional, maybe, but its not impossible. Finish 8th and top of fair play league getting into europe...giving Martins, Owen, Given N'Zogbia a reason to stay, and giving MA a reason to invest properly at the end of the season.
  3. Is this just another young lato put in the reserves? Or is he really an awesome talent? I mean what about zamblera? I wonder if the young lad will get a chance at all...
  4. Absolutely disgraceful! Shite shite shite...but a suprise? NO
  5. Think i mite have an early night...YAWN What time is the highlights on ITV?
  6. Bollocks IMO. Read an article this mornin with quotes from kaka sayin how much he was looking forward to playing with david beckham. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
  7. Hopefully. Id thought that mind, trying to confuse selling clubs as to what our situation really is, could be a clever bit of work but i doubt him nor MA have the mental capacity to conjur up such a plan.
  8. Didnt we nearly sign lovenkrands before he wet to rangers? Decent player and for nothing why not? Could spell the end to N'Zogbia time here though. As for dacourt and someones remark about "getting a pacey attacking midfielder" well i dont think pace is what w necessarily need in the middle, we need someone to pull the strings, pick a pass, and he has one that his whole career. Again for nowt wouldnt be a bad idea. I'd offer both OD and PL a year and a half contract. Am i the only one who thinks aron and guthrie would be a good midfielder pairing though?
  9. Why Joe Hart? Harper is a perfectly fine mid-table Premiership keeper and Krul/Forster should be at the point where they can be relied on as dependable back-up. Quite simply because JH has shown massive potential, he is young, and he is english and ot a bad replacment for given. If Citeh came to us with that ofr i think many people would stap there ands off....yes shay given is one of the best in the league but he is 32 remember. Arguably at his peak in terms of keepers ages You are rite mate but stilli think if we could get MJ and JH who are both in there early 20's it would be a good bit of business and plus MA wouldnt get a penny!

  11. I agree with Pud to some extent, MA needs a reality check for sure. Though like a few others have said i really t want our boys to lose anygames, further jeopordising our PL survival. As for MA, DW and JFK winning a cup....who cares? I'd love us to win something even if it ment peter fuckin reid being in charge man. It wouldput us into europe wouldnt it? Also itwould make us a more saleable asset too. Something has to happen, but what, i dont know.
  12. If he was to go to man city there would only be one deal id be interested in an that would be Joe Hart + Michael Johnson for Shay Given. Period.
  13. Its going to be a tough old month is January, on the back of a 5-1 home thumping from Liverpool, a boring goalless draw at Hull, and a lively yet slightly dissapointing home draw against West Ham we look forward to the home FA Cup replay against Hull which i fully expect us to win, then two tough away games at Blackburn and Man Citeh. Although we cant expect much in the way of signings we do have a few players coming back from injury, most notably Joey Barton who i think has been sorely missed in our engine room, Alan Smith who has been poor but will have the fire in his belly and a point to prove, and lastly and probably most important Oba Martins who im sure most will agree, although not exactly prolific nor consistent and at times frustrting, his directivness, pace and trickery has been missed greatly. All three probably wont make the hull game, but i'd imagine have a chance for our two crucial away games. So for our immediate encounter at home to Hull City i'd quite like to see the Carroll and Owen partnership. We all know where we NEED to stregnthen but whether we do actually go out and get the LB, RB and CM we yearn for is yet to been seen. Fingers crossed that by the time the filth come to St. James on the 1st of Feb we have a few numbers in and the three above mentioned back and fit. As always with NUFC, January will be nail biting and unpredictable but here is what i think will happen in terms of results, i would normally have a punt at prospective signings but like everyone else, its pointless even trying to suss out what MA and his team are doing at present. Newcastle v Hull (FA Cup) 3-0 Blackburn v Newcastle (League) 1-1 (Optamistically thinking though i should of learned by now!...1-2) Man Citeh v Newcastle (League) 2-1 The above assuming we dont get anyone in and we rely on the current squad.
  14. Because of an OUTSTANDING tackle by Upson, maybe could of cut it back but at the pace e was moving would of been a tall order.
  15. Good, decent performace, ok result. After taking the lead e really should of stayed firm, bassong again was outstanding though lucky not to give away a penalty. Coloccini is growingly becoming a worry, he is slow and at times gets caught out of position. Taylor done well at right back but wsn't brilliant. Enrique after a few decent game was woeful again, his distribution over and over again put us in trouble. Duff was tricky and done well, as to was gutierrez, he ran his heart out and for a world class tackle from upson would of got th goal he deserved. Geremi was wank a per usual. Guthrie for me was brilliant, worked hard, harried and his passing at times was rob lee'esq. N'Zogbia s busy but no end product. Owen took his goal well and should of scored at the death. Carroll i was very impressed with, his hold play was good, worked hard and im chuffed the lad got hs goal. Overall...pretty decent, both sides could of won it, id say we haded it but still gave west ham too much of the ball. Not bad lads...
  16. All streams have died??? Anyone with a working one? Pm please still 1-0?
  17. Anyone with a link? Tvu just stopped and justintv asks for password? Anyone got one please PM me Thanks boys
  18. There is contrdicting statements out there though, icnewcastle says he mite make west ham game!
  19. Exactly what i thought....and he remembered he had an ashtray full of the white stuff and called to say it was a missunderstanding!
  20. True. He has the greasy locks of a semi-homeless hobo who has just blown his giro in Ladbrokes. Hahaha SO TRUE!
  21. The legend that is.....Nobby Solano
  22. nope. nowhere near good enough. on their day all are good palyers but none good enough to propel us into the top 6. zog can't deliver the goods consistently and wants to go to arsenal. duff is slowing down. guthrie is good at fetch and carry and can use the ball well but isn't top class. bartons got a fair bit about him but again isn't top drawer. gutierrez is very good at what he does but rely's on decent movement from our forwards. that isn't always forthcoming.... unfortunatley for me i don't have the answer as i don't know who our targets are. None of them are top quality...correct...but are we a top quality side? No. Is any side in top 6 top quality? No. I agree with you about duff for sure, and to some extent with charlie but he has pace and is direct, he is a different type of winger. As for barton and guthrie i truely think it would work well, barton sitting in the whole pulling strings and getting a few attempts on goal and guthrie being the more industrious, chasing, harrying and using the ball well. I dont think we've seen anything near the best of gutierrez yet, once in a stable side who attacks more than defends he will blossom. If what i said could happen id be very happy with this side next season. Given Beye --- Coloccini --- Bassong --- Baines Gutierrez --- Barton --- Guthrie --- N'Zogbia Ashton --- Martins Subs: Krul, RB, Taylor, Enrique, Duff, Skjelbred, FWD Backup: Soderberg, Edgar, Kadar, Tozer, Butt, Lua-Lua, Ameobi Obviously it would be better for us if Harps signed another contract but i think he will want 1st team football to end his career. And all of the above is assuming that owen leaves along with cacapa, geremi, smith, gonzalez, xisco and viduka. And id imagine we'd replace those with 3 other squad players.
  23. OzToonFan...You've hit the nail on the head mate, i read and agreed with pretty much everything you wrote. Though i dont think it is likely, that is the measures needed to drag OUR club out of the shit. I think your assesment of the squad and which players should stay and go are pretty accurate. In my opnion NO-ONE should leave in january as we need as many numbers as possible to help retain our premiership status, that being said it does look likely that N'Zogbia will be going should an offer of around 12-15mil is made. Shay Given on the other hand is a worrying situation, he is the "calming" figure in our side and if we lost him i could well see it all going tits up. I think it is even more imperative that he stays that owen staying. Like you said, owen leaving, is not the end of the world. Id quite like to see us go in for ashton if and when he does leave as i think ashton and martins would work very well. Also as you stated, come february we will know what state we will be in, and i hope to god that no-one has left and we have gone out and got at least a CM but preferably alongside a RB and a LB. A second CM and RM can wait until the summer. I think a midfield of N'Zogbia / Duff --- Guthrie --- Barton --- Gutierrez is sufficient of a side in the top 6. Butt as a back up alongside someone like bullard or Skjelbred, the later offering cover for the right too. As far as LB is concerned, id be willing to let Jose Enrique continue in the side as he has been showing a little promise of late, but this would not stop me going for the likes of a baines or a warnock. RB is an issue, a massive issue as we can see now with beye out injured and relying on taylor or edgar to play there. Not having sufficent cover unbalances the back line and we cant afford to do that in the back end of the season. The problem is, there is a serious lack of decent RB's out there, never mind ones who would come here! So on the whole i agree with your point that only a few GOOD signings is what we need in january, and then we can take stock of the situation come the end of may when id fully expect the likes of geremi, cacapa, smith and xisco to be sold and replaced. The figures needed spent are probably accurate to but extremely unlikely under MA. The ebst we can hope for i think is 10mil and a few loans in january and if MA sells up in the summer then and only then can we expect a sum of around 40mil being spent. Even then thats not a gimme given the current finacial climate.
