Could be good, but i doubt JFK has the balls or the tactical nouse to try it out though.

Not very happy about this tbh, he is a liability, im just worried that JFK see's him as a KEY player! In my opinion when fit Guthrie and Barton should be ahead of him, yes keep him as back up, but somehow he is going to be a key player, especially as guthrie and barton are fucked for a lengthy spell. Fully fit i think Nolan and Barton would be a pretty decent engine room.

I too love the home shirt we wore in 95 and im not sure if it was the same season we had the "rugby shirt" with cream shorts.....my two personal favourites. Though i do really like the current home shirt. And im growing to the idea of puma taking over from adidas if it is true of course.

I was tempted to suggest him aswell after his performace at the weekend, my only feeling with him is though, he has obviously got alot of talent, but like bramble his concentration lets him down at key moments which subsequently puts the rest of the team in the shit. If he can build on his performance against sunderland then yes i'd agree with you. Id say colocinni too but he has been poor of late, i do think he is still adapting and will be better for us next season though thats a different matter.

I dont think there is a club in the world where ONE player can single handedly change the clubs fortunes. Yes a striker getting 30 goals a season is a massive help but he would not get those goals without assists. Likewise a goalkeeper keeping 20 clean sheets would be a massive aid but he isnt going to do that without a good defence. We have to be strong, tenacious, confident and assertive to beat the drop, and i think there a few players who will be influencial, not only on the pitch but in spreading the fighting spirit, building team morale. Granted we've missed oba and he will be a huge bonus at the weekend, but i think the likes of gutierrez, nolan, R.Taylor and Bassong are going to play massive roles in picking up points.

We'll finish 11th. Write off this season and build in the summer with 5-8 new players, and a similar number leaving. (Owen, Viduka, Geremi, Cacapa are pretty much nailed on but i would like to see Butt and Duff leave too).

Boys if we dont stay positive then whats the point? Im as frustrated and fucked of and you lot about the transfer window, im pleased with the players we got but we still needed 2-3 more. Didnt happen, we feel we've been bullshitted too but end of the day what will be will be. Maybe im being daft, but i really dont see any point being negative about it. We HAVE to stay positive.

So we didnt get the "two more" that we hoped for, but we all kinda knew it wasnt going to materialise didnt we? Trying to be positive looking at our current squad, situation and fixtures till the end of the season. Oba should be back for WBA, Smith nearing fitness, Viduka in training (Means nothing) but we are going to be without Danny Guthrie for the rest of the campaign (NUFC.com say he's available?). So we've got Butt, Nolan, and Barton when he's back in 2 months time to play in centre midfield. Butt and Nolan can forge a good partnership in midfield i think, lets just hope neither pick up injuries or suspensions becasue then we will feel the lack of adequate recruits. Beye, Barton and Owen likely to return in april so my guesses our starting line up will be the following... Harper R.Taylor Coloccini Bassong Enrique Gutierrez Nolan Butt Duff Shola Martins Not a GREAT side but surely good enough to stay up and finish top half? Lovenkrands will cover for both Duff and Guti and imagine will play in the absence of Guti against WBA. R.Taylor will play at RB whilst Beyes out and id imagine will then replace Enrique at LB when Beye returns. Butt and Nolan HAS to be our midfield pairing as we have no choice, but i hope once Guthrie and Barton are fit either of them would be a better choice than Butt. And finally we'll have Carroll, Viduka and Smith as cover upfront, Non of which are world beaters but better than nothing. Seeing as we havnt spent the SG and CNZ i can only hope there is going to be a sizeable budget to spend in the summer when we are going to need 2 strikers, one of which to replace Owen, 2 LW one of which to replace duff, and RW as an understudy and cover for Guti, a creative CM a LB and an Experienced CB. 7 players needed for us to go on and have a better campaign next year.

Haa KD, yes i went to about 10 games last season fella, and yes Smith was gash, but if you HAD read on you'd of also noted that i said when Owen and Viduka leave we will be left with Carroll, Smith and Lovenkrands to partner Oba upfront. I also said we needed to go out at get a target man to play with Oba. Smith would be my choice out of the three as i think he MAY come good. He's not written off. Note: Andy Carroll had another good game today, if he starts getting a few goals i could well see him do well with Oba. And i tend to agree to some extent, but, JFK is building his own squad and trying to re-address the balance and settle the squad down. If we stay up, and i think we will, id much rather him stay for another season, keep building and get some sort of consistancy. No he wont take us forward massively but id rather build SLOWLY then appoint a new guy and us having to start all over again. Terrifying thought? Maybe but im hopefull, i think we all know its not great at the moment but i think alot of people are making it out to be far worse. Because MA isnt thowing wads about its seen as a problem? Harper: 7 Not much to do, few good saves, looked frustrated at having no quick outlets. Taylor: 8 Best performance at RB, solid, usefull and good going forward. Welldone Tayls. Coloccini: 6 Poor, appauling error for the goal, made a few good tackles but poor on the whole. Bassong: 9 Outstanding, anticipated well, good distribution, needs to keep his hands to himself though. Enrique 8 Best performance for the club, good skill, alert and linked well with Gutierrez. Duff: 7 Hot and cold Gutierrez: 9 Ran and ran and ran, heart of a lion this fella, touch of class too, needs to first find that final ball though. Butt: 6 Poor, wasteful, sloppy and disjointed, covered alot of ground though. Not good enough. Nolan: 7 Quite 1st half, Good 2nd, put himself about and made some good runs. Busy. Ameobi: 7 Link up play was good at times, but apart from a brilliant penalty his shooting was poor. Welldone on hitting the big 50 though shola. Carroll: 8 Hungry, strong, has a physical presence, im starting to see a real player in there. Good game. Subs: Edgar 6 (No time have inpact), Lovenkrands 6 (Done nothing) All in all it was very much a game of two halves, 1st half we started slowly, gave them too much time on the ball which they sprayed about well, few flashes in 1st half but nothing of note. 2nd half we should of battered them, on another day with Oba and Owen we'd of got 2 or 3, we hassled well, created space, passed it about, but like to often was frustrating infront of goal. Not a bad point, but not a good one neither. Bring on WBA, we should have R.Taylor in at right back and these "two more" hopefully and CM and a ST. We may even have Martins fit by the weekend though id imagine only a spot on the bench is the best we can hope for. Going to be a touch game at the hawthorns but based on todays 2nd half attitude, if we can carry that into next weekends game i think we'll pick up 3 points on the road.

Which young players would you premote to give a run in cup games or run outs last 10? My starting 11 would be as follows... Harper Beye---Coloccini---Bassong---R.Taylor Gutierrez---Barton---Nolan---Duff Martins---Smith Id imagine the likes of Geremi, Cacapa, Enrique, Owen and Viduka to all leave, so that will leave a gaping hole in the squad to fill, of course some youth can fill the void but we also need proven quality in there too. So we'd have Harps and Krul between the sticks with another two young keepers in Soderberg and Fraser so i think we're ok there for the time being. Beye is solid at Rb with R.Taylor providing cover, we have Kadar in reserve (Though worryingly injury prone he does look talented) we still need to go out and get another left back. Central defence we have a growing partnership in colo and bassong with taylor and edgar as backups, id be tempted to go out and get an old head too, maybe to provide competiton and knowlegde to both ST and DE. Left wing will be one of the priorities come the summer, duff just aint cutting it, actuallyy he never has in our shirt, i dont think he want to play a bit part role so i'd let him go and find a replacement (Schweinsteiger) if we are in a better position, and a youngster to groom and use as backup. We also need cover for Gutierrez, i've said for some time Skjelbred would be an ideal option as he can be adopted in both RW and CM. So in the engine room we'd have Nolan and Barton 1st choice pairing with Guthrie and Butt in reserve, i like Guthrie i think he will turn out to be a good player, where as Butt as seen better days, id let him go as the three afforemention players all hassle, chase and get stuck in, so id be pushing for a real attack minded CM ie. Michael Johnson, assuming we dont get him in this window. Upfront is where the problem will be at with Owen and Viduka not likely to be here next season, leaving us with a choice or Carroll, Lovenkrands, Smith and Shola to partner Oba up top. Providing Oba doesnt walk in the summer too. Carroll imo should be loaned out again next season, smith kept as a utility player although if he can find some form would make a god partner for Oba, and Shola well he's here for another 3 years so use him as backup. We really do need to search high and low for a target man, Mario Gomez would be my 1st choice, someone strong, good in the air and hold up play. So thats...LB, CB, LW x2, RW, CM and ST...7 new faces, replacing Geremi, Cacapa, Enrique, Owen, Butt, Duff and Viduka. Butt and Duff of course could stay if they'd settle for being backup rather than 1st players. Youth should get a chance too with the likes of, Kadar, Tozer, Lua-Lua and a few of the new youngsters getting a bit of pitch time here and there.
