  1. Aye two legged affair in those days, Klinsmann was absolutely immense, think Bayern beat Forest 6-1 at the City Ground on the way to that final.
  2. Wigan were much better than we were yesterday if Moses and Rodallega could finish we could've had a really embarrassing scoreline yesterday. The problem we've got and have had in many games this season is we don't move off the ball very well, and are better suited playing teams who come at us all the time, as I just don't think we've got enough movement to take the game to teams all of the time. That's my conclusion, don't confuse movement with pace, we have an abundance of pace, but there's not many intelligent runs going on. Had me contact lense punched oot me eye after the goal but it was worth it. Had a major argument with a mate about Ashley after the game in the pub was nearly a get ootside job with piss offs and fuck offs flying everywhere, can't believe how suckered in people are by this start to the season and it's going to get even worse the longer we keep fluking results because that's what we're doing. The back four was quite good I thought though, more vital we get Colo a new contract than any of AC, Barton, JE or Nolan. Best looked like he'd been on a cowie last night or summik, after 5 minutes he looked fucked hands on hips, his performance was feeble, and that weak header when he should've scored summed it up. Anyway it's 3 points, but we need to up that against Stoke and the blue dippers cos we'll get beat off both if we don't.
  3. We tried to sign Terry as an addition to Woodgate. We signed Woody in the January, Terry was only a few days from signing for us in the June when Abramovic bought Chelsea. Ah right. I thought it was around the same time or maybe we were linked with him in the January too, perhaps? Would've been a canny partnership like. Aye slightly more solid than Bramble and O'Brien. Too many near misses like this in our history for me to think we're anything other than cursed. Up there with that time Keegan was offered Zidane for £1.8m but thought he wasn't good enough. Where did you hear this about us and Zidane? It's a known fact amongst toon fans. Well toon fans 30 and over. Alan Oliver mentioned it in 1996 we'd been offered Zidane, and his agent pressed the Hall's to sign him, but Keegan said he didn't think he was good enough. It was backed up by this agents' crack last year.
  4. One of the designs considered for Zenit St Petersburg's new 70,000 stadium. Looks like the Titanic, after it hit the iceburg.
  5. Aye, your facts. Which are once again wrong. Spurs over took us in the 2006/7 season in terms of revenue. And we've been nowhere near Liverpool in the past ten years. 2007, so I was one year out. As for Liverpool??? Really? http://edition.cnn.c...d.richest.reut/ Aye, talk about cherry picking your figures. How about the following season when we were €50m behind them? NOthing to do with them winning the Champions League at all, oh no.
  6. His point about our stature and turnover being higher than it is now, dismissing it as a "fallacy", is completely uneducated and misguided. You don't even comprehend what I said Stature > Liverpool - never Staure > Spurs - for a time Turnover is ONLY one side of the coin. Turnover is the most important aspect of a clubs ability to grow, having a rich oligarch will mean fuck all in the near future when financial fair play comes in to force, and I'm sure it'll diversify so eventually there's no loopholes like Man City are currently trying to exploit.
  7. When have Tottenham ever fucking looked like winning the title since 1961? We've seriously competed for it at least four times in the last 16 years. FA Cups and UEFA Cups, anyone can win them look at Portsmouth or Ipswich. Tottenham haven't been one of the big boys for 50 years, and won't be so you're talking shit there. As for money generated like I say for most of the last 20 years we've been significantly richer than Tottenham and now the tables have turned, accelerated by this regime.

  9. That said while Leeds home support has always been shit, their away support isn't bad, was never that good in the Prem but strangely it's improved while they've been in the lower leagues, probably like a Man City siege mentality thing, and it's normally a good atmosphere at both grounds when we play them, as opposed to playing your Wolves' and your Fulhams'. A good point always ignored by these Knackers on the likes of Talksport/shit journalists etc who sometimes dig the odd poor attendance out by us and have a pop. Man City averaged 28K, (not the often stated 30K plus) in their Div 3 promotion year in 1999. We had averaged 29K in our div 2 promotion season in 1984. There is a hell of a difference between those figures as 29K in 1984 was a far more impressive figure for a club outside the top flight. It was in fact only slightly bettered by a Liverpool side who won everything bar the FA cup, including the European Cup, and Man Utd. Football in 1999 was far more popular. That's not a dig at Man City more the usual suspects who can't stand NUFC. Man City have always been a poorly supported club when you look through their history. Their away support has generally always been shit too, and I don't accept the argument that they have the biggest club in the world 5 miles away, why bleat on about Manchester being blue then? 4m people within 25 minutes drive. Newcastle are and always will be relatively speaking the best supported club in England, in terms of profile of fan, and the astonishing amount of shit we've had / actual match going fans. I don't even see how anyone could argue about that.

  11. to be fair Chez, you responded to a post I made where I said there was an increasing amount of posts similar to the crap posted on NO. The comment you are making here ie implying that people are waiting for the team to lose before "gloating" is exactly the sort of crap comments that became quite prominent on NO before I was banned. To date, unlike some, I haven't given up supporting the team yet, and I'm not even one of the people who think exciting times are just around the corner ie mid table obscurity which is the new target. I don't comment in many match threads whatever the result, I never have as a rule. And I've already started the Wigan thread by saying that win, lose or draw I may not be posting for a few days again even if I feel inclined to. My stance remains. The club is in long term decline, because it is encompassing falling standards and targets [now there is a modern business cliche for you.....]. A small run of good results isn't going to change that mate. None of you make any attempt whatsoever to be objective and assess things from a balanced perspective. Anger and resentment builds up over time, through a succession of events that are spun negatively at the time. The fact that these events dont end up being negative does not lead to people to say 'we were wrong about that'. They just search for new ways to hold on to their opinion. Happens in all walks of life, its an established and known behaviour. I just try and bring some balance to things, we are going well for now, we have a new strategy, its less exciting than previous strategies but its the one we have. I dont know if it will work but i understand why we have adopted it. The things that MA has done wrong since relegation are 1) Getting rid of the singing section. The SD branding could be worth £40m, we dont know how it is positioned financially inside his head or whether there are no actual payments associated with them. Pure conjecture for now. Carroll? I'm happy. Nolan? I'm happy. Pardew? I'm happy. Enrique? Lets wait and see. Barton? Stil a bit disappointed tbh but thats life. If you can get over what happened 3 seasons ago, then all i can see is a debate about ambition and if we are competing for 7th, then thats an accurate and fair representation of our status in the game financially this year. People need to grow up imo. Sorry, i know that sounds terrible saying it like that buts its how i feel. That's absolutely fine saying that, but under Shepherd we were SIGNIFICANTLY richer than Tottenham, and more or less on parity with Liverpool for many, many years. The lack of ambition and bastardisation of the club now by clueless owners mean that we really are only the seventh biggest club on those terms presently in stature and finance. We weren't though, that's a falacy, our "richness" was based solely on debt, and the ability to get more debt, they made profits, we didn't, that debt came home to roost. Why lie? Our turnover was ALWAYS larger than Tottenham's till 2008, it was generally on parity with Liverpool give or take £10m up to around the time they won the Champions League. They've moved forward we went significantly backwards, I'm not on about just on the pitch but as a money making business. There are facts available that can't even be argued with but you don't have the intelligence to understand the importance of money making for any business, and on those terms from being £25m in front of Tottenham, this season we will be approximately £25m behind them. Do you have the intelligence to comprehend that? Do you understand the principle of debits abd credits ??? Completely irrelevant to Chez's point of being 7th in terms of finance and stature. Explain why you ignored that, lack of understanding or ignorance? I wasn't talking to Chez, I was talking to you. In other words you're uncomfortable about being shown up, so you have to say something.

  15. 94. Seems closer than that. 94 seems like yesterday to me anyway.
  16. Bagsy using your casey. If Martins ever plays there you could probably make a lot of money by fishing for balls in the river. There's innovative and there's pathetic, which one is that?
  17. Whey a canny few years ago. That River Phoenix.

  20. Bates bought Chelsea for a quid and sold his stake to Abramovic for £80m. Look like he's going to do similar with Leeds. I think he's probably learned his lesson with overstretching a club, Chelsea were going bankrupt when Abramovic bought them. Not many people remember this but Newcastle were on the verge of signing John Terry for £10m when Roman bought the club. I think for a club like Leeds it's important to live within their means given their past, and I don't know what Bates has done wrong so far, do they want a Ridsdale situation again. Leeds can come up live between their means and be at their natural level of 14th-17th. Bates has done nowt wrong.

  22. I don't believe the pish about Man Utd not having a bid accepted. I do believe Walker said £20m to them £15m to any cunt else.

    Gaddafi

Hard to believe his influence stretched to getting the son games in Serie A. All in all fuck him. People are saying the Daily Mail and The Sun frontpages are wrong because you shouldn't revel in death, but I wonder if the "NPDG's" would be saying the same thing if they were Jewish and it was Hitler on the front page.
