  1. I watched that earlier tonight, thought it was quite an uncomfortable watch at times.
  2. I'm always the cold one in our office but I take plenty of layers since there's no way I'm winning against a load of menopausal women who want the windows wide open.
  3. Aye, fantastic ending. I wanted them to win too.
  4. £1.70 for a pint of Strongbow in the Beehive. The lager is a similar price. And yes I know this because I go there quite regularly.
  5. It's getting right on my nerves. I don't mind burgers, but they're generally not my first choice. Sick of seeing yet another burger place spring up every other week.
  6. I read the question about 20 times thinking of course it couldn't be that straightforward. Of course it was. And I thought my mental arithmetic was turd.
  7. Did that too before I saw your reply.
  8. I'm only a few episodes in but really enjoying it too. Hoping to get through quite a bit of it this weekend. It looks absolutely fantastic as well on our new TV.

    Gigs 2024

Got tickets for the Newcastle version of this a week later. Missed out on the above so happy I can see it on my doorstep. Bit shan not to have just confirmed all the dates at the same time like since loads of people from up here will have booked up for Leeds.
  11. My cousin sailed through his test by thinking he'd made a massive mistake in the first 30 seconds. I can't remember what it is, but apparently it wasn't that bad and he was totally comfortable after that once the pressure was off.
  12. I thought the first episode of series 2 of Happy Valley was very good. I really enjoyed the first series.
  13. I used to love the X Files, but I probably remember it with fond memories on the basis I was a kid at the time and it was one of the only more "grown up" shows that I really had any interest in watching. I haven't re-watched it at all until this new run, so I'm sure there is plenty I would find cringeworthy and dated now.
  14. I thought it was alright, but then I was expecting it to be cheesy and naff because, well, X Files.

Growing up in an estate permeated by the smell of the Findus factory was enough to put me off their products for life.

I was never that fussed on pancakes as a kid as my mam would never entertain anything other than lemon & sugar, which I wasn't keen on. Once I discovered savoury pancakes I started liking them a lot more. I usually end up making some sort of pancake burrito type thing with chicken, cheese, chilli and salad.
  17. I smiled at it too and I'm the victim.
  18. Getting the answer to a really clever cryptic crossword clue. I don't mean in a smug way, more so the appreciation of how good the clue was.
  19. Congrats. I never hear of anyone actually getting into that so you're very unlucky.
  20. The Count of Monte Cristo was absolutely fantastic. Real sense of achievement for getting through it and despite a few waffley areas I enjoyed it a great deal. Three Musketeers will be my next "classic", after a few others I should get through a little quicker. Starting with January's book club offering, White Teeth by Zadie Smith.
  21. The Count of Monte Cristo is fantastic, but my god it's long. Sitting at about 70% of the way through at the moment and very much enjoying the experience.
  22. Hard lines Tom. Hopefully you'll get through it next time.
  23. We're going for Hamburg v Hertha BSC. I think the ice hockey team is playing on the Friday night too so probably go along to that as well. Sport abroad is great fun.
  24. Got a weekend in Hamburg at the beginning of March but not sure where to consider for later in the year.
