I still fancy us to nick a win against someone and then another one. Hopefully that will be enough. 34/35 points will be enough...
  2. Slow news day then. He openly says he loves Chelsea and still speaks to the big wigs at the club. Off course he would want to beat them if he played them in competition. Total non story. By the way I reckon he could do a job for us.
  3. I'm expecting a win. 3-0 ... Smith (2) and Duff

We'll be fine. Derby and Fulham have gone, definately think we'll pick up at least 3 wins between now and the end of the season (Probably not at Anfield though) and there'll be someone worse than us.. at the end of the season. Here are our remaining fixtures - i've highlighted the matches i think we have a chance of winning (and i've put a * next to the ones i think we'll win) Sat 8-Mar Liverpool (a) Mon 17-Mar 8pm Birmingham (a) * Sat 22-Mar Fulham (h) * Sun 30-Mar Tottenham (a) Sat 5-Apr Reading (h) * Sat 12-Apr Portsmouth (a) Sat 19-Apr Mackems (h) * Sat 26-Apr West Ham (a) Sat 3-May Chelsea (h) Sun 11-May Everton (a) Hopefully we will be safe before the last 2 games.
  5. To be fair how do you choose between Anderson and Guivarch? Carl Cort only made the bench. Could also have had Paul Kitson...
  6. You should take into account value for money also, i'm quite young so i cant remember alot of the oldies! However, Bramble (£5m) .. Boumsong (£8m).. Maric (£8m?) .. Luque (£10m) ... could be considered worse than crap players who didnt cost alot.
  7. Ok to lighten the mood a little bit (perhaps) here is my team which i think could give any side in the conference a run for their money (i've probably missed a few so feel free to add) Keeping it tight at the back we've got Hooper in goal, being protected by Bramble, Boumsong, Marcelinho and Craig Moore. In midfield we've got a blend of youth and experience, with Fumaca playing in the hole backed up by Amdy Faye and Maric on the flanks. Upfront I've gone for the dead eye trio of Ameobi, Anderson and Luque which is sure to have the big 3 conceding the title right away. On the bench: Lionel Perez Gary Caldwell Alain Goma Carl Cort Andreas Anderson
  8. Enrique might be alright at LB. He needs a chance. With none of our strikers likely to score in a brothel I reckon Bramble could come in and do a job up front. His strike at Anfield showed his quality.
  9. I actually think there's a player somewhere in Cacapa, but maybe he cant handle English football. 6 years at Lyon, he can't be crap. Taylor is like a white Titus Bramble, always a mistake waiting to happen. We must be the most expensively assembled relegation battlers in history.
  10. It seems unthinkable that the defence could have gotten any worse since the heart-in-mouth days of Boumsong and Bramble, but it has! The defence is appaling and looks well capable of conceding 5 goals every week. Ok Man Utd are exceptional in the forward areas but at least make them work for their win. 1st goal - no marking 2nd goal - just let Ronaldo run straight through 3rd goal - Steven Taylor look away now 4th goal - two poor clearances 5th goal - too easy At least Bramble liked a Haymaker tackle every now and then!! Right now i'm thinking we bring him back as player manager, thoughts ?
  11. I'm not so sure. I've seen it several times now and it looks suspiciously like he went in to do him. Nobody goes in that high and studs first without wanting to hurt someone. People on this thread defending the tackle have obviously never been on the recieving end of one of these. I feel for the lad, as others have said this looks depressingly career threatening.
  12. I heard Enrique has a raggy nail. He could be the new Marcelinho.
  13. Have to say i agree with Wenger's sentiments on this one... Guys like Eduardo are great to watch and all of a sudden you get some hoofer centre half who just goes right through the back of him and practically rips his leg off. It was a dreadful challenge, its hard to believe some folk are defending it. They've obviously never been on the wrong end of one of these tackle's. On the other hand its hard to know where to draw the line in terms of handing out lengthy or even permanent bans to players who put fellow professional's careers at risk with dangerous challenges. But you can see why Wenger is so upset, we've heard it so many times on TV, the way to beat Arsenal is to get "physical". All the best to Eduardo in his recovery. Personally i think he would have been one of the better players to watch at Euro 2008 so i am dissapointed.
  14. Matt Le Tissier's against us at The Dell where he controlled it with his heel then dinked in over the defender's head and rolled it into the corner. Outstanding goal.
  15. Berbatov a newcastle fan? Says who? I'd be amazed if any top class player turned down the chance to join Man Utd for Newcastle to be honest. Newcastle UEFA cup hopefulls while Man Utd are likely to pick up 1 trophy (at least) this season.
  16. The hell with tactics.... nobody ever won anything with tactics Give us attacking football!! 5 up front, if they score 4 we'll score 6, etc etc etc
  17. People have to realise that it's a different game now. It's not like before when it was Newcastle and Man Utd at the top battling it out for the league... Mourinho and Wenger put together would struggle to win the league with Newcastle now because Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea are lightyears ahead and it will take years if not decades to close that gap. This appointment was all about restoring pride and getting a smile back on the fans faces and that has already been achieved.
  18. Didn't know what to think when i heard. Initial thoughts are... Happy he's back Unhappy the defence will probably never get sorted out now Happy if Shearer becomes asst manager Looking forward to regularly getting beat 4-3 Seriously I'm happy and i reckon we'll see some decent football now this season but I'm not really sure what the board expect Keegan to achieve... he couldn't win anything when we were the best team in the country - what chance now we're about 10th best team?
  19. How is it good news? We've ruled out the only guy who would get the whole place flying right from the start. Yes he does lack experience but he knows the club and the fans - in fact he is a fan. Experience isn't everything. Allardyce was an experienced manager, so was Souness. Now what will probably happen is we'll appoint some non-entity manager with no connection to the club on a huge salary and sack him in the summer and then we'll have to do it all over again.
  20. Hughes isnt the answer. Bolton played attacking football under Sam Allardyce and were actuallypretty good. Yeah Hughes has a "big club" mentality but this is a step sideways if you ask me. Still, its better than the Harry Redknapp rumour...
  21. Given the bout of depression i've been in since hearing Harry Redknapp was the No1 target for the job, and remembering that probably no decent manager will want the job anyway, I'm thinking of sending my CV in to the club. Although I don't have any real football manager experince, I do have several years Championship Manager experience in which I took the Newcastle job. I won the Premiership (twice) the FA Cup (twice) and the Champions League once and in that year I also did the treble. I'd happily give it a go and if things don't work out then walk away with an obscene pay off. Thoughts?
  22. Ha ha ha, and Titsup Bumble has just scored Wigan's equaliser at Anfield! Bad night all round!
  23. Who then!! Im still waiting on a name
