I suppose in light of the NE the question may be; compared to the cost to the overall country and as a % I that in the NE, how much will be made back by any local event or knock on effect. In other words, does it leave the area better off or not? I wonder with hindsight if the government would have bid for the games at all.

Krugman is spot on there imo. I run a small-medium business. Less employment red tape would be nice, less corporation tax would be nice, but what drives the business is demand. I am linked through supply to the construction industry. For that it needs funding and confidence (to build or renew). The banks are encouraged to lend but they are not (much). Everyone is banging on about austerity and private business is largely holding on to its cash. the knock on effect is less demand and so on. I was wrong. I thought short term austerity would work. But right now I think what the country needs to a boost in confidence to spend. Get the wheels turning again.

Agree about Tyrion like. Plays the role brilliantly but such a great character as well. Ive enjoyed this series again (its not a fucking season!) best thing on tv by a long shot. Id put it ahead of walking dead which I also enjoy. Last one next week will be interesting with so many lose ends to tie up.
